Tracy

Can I mention that if you have the credit card type driving license you will also need to take the paper part with for hiring a car.

I also noticed that you have a lot of things like the dishwasher powder etc. I assume that you will get those when you arrive as oppose to taking them with you. We also buy our sun cream when we arrive as well as we found it cheaper, and better, than what we can get over here.

Personally I like to take some clothes too ;)

No, in all seriousness, we take some "bounce sheets" to put in the tumble dryer. Depending how logn you are out there, would probabkly get diswasher powder out there (if you are going to use a lot of it).

Make-up, if you wear it.

Since you are using satnav, if you are visiting places/restaurants/shops outside of Disney etc (i.e. Outback), then it is worth noting down their addresses.

Hi Pegasus,
I've included things like suncream, as we always have some left over, and take it with us. As for dishwasher/ washing powder/bin bags.. no we don't buy it there. You'll find that the packets are way too big for our short stay!
They don't weigh too much and you won't be bringing them back!!

Hi Alice,
Love the idea of not taking clothes:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: although, the amount we buy......:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
We always set the sat nav up with favourites before we go, and to be honest, we know the route to our favourite restaurants/golf courses anyway. This year we are going kayaking, so will be using the sat nav to get us there!!

Hi Tracy. How old is your "left over" suncream? Am just asking because the latest buzz is that sunscream "deteriorates" over time... so becomes less affective at protecting you. If it is 6 months old, should be ok. But if you are looking at a year or longer... might want to get some new stuff when you can. Of course, that's if you believe the deterioration thing... :)

Good idea with the satnav. We always hire cars with satnav out there (rather than takign our own), but what you do makes good sense :thumbsup2

Yeah, definitely worth taking SOME clothes ;)

You would not believe the packing list i had in December!! I was re writing and adding things to the list every 5 mins for months before we went! But .... it was for our wedding LOL i always seem to forget something important! I was so worried i might forget something really important like the rings or my dress....or DH LOL!!

I do tend to make a list of essentials though.

I found this packing list -

I would also say travel insurance policy so that you knwo who to call if the worst should happen and you need to get emergency medical treatment as most companies will only pay if they are informed prior to any large expenses, unless of course it is a life and death situation where you haven't the time to make such calls.

Claire ;)

Photocopy of passport so that if you lose it you have the info for the embassy.

Maybe a sign of travelling far too much in my life (through work and pleasure)... I don't actually use packing lists

Anybody else not use packing lists, or am I some kind of freak? :lmao:

I would lie awake worrying if I didnt do a packing list!! :scared1:

My DH and I travel alot for work, but it didn't stop him 'thinking I'd packed his driving licence'!!!! So, that's why we do a check list now!!!:thumbsup2

I must be a freak - keep it all in my head... :scared1:

I admit though, husband is repsonsible for his own (card part) or his driving licence - we keep these in our wallets (couldn't imagine not having it in my wallet - useful for ID, proof of address and things). I am responsible for taking the paper slip bit of our driving licences (I just keep them in the folder with the "next holiday" reseervations etc). We always take the paper slips, but I have NEVER been asked to produce them... (still, the one time you don't take them... :rotfl: )

Nope,
same as you Alice.
The only list I draw up is my Travellers Cheque number list.

As I can go abroad at a moments notice, I keep my passport with me all the time, as well as my Card driving Licence. The paper like you gets put with the Travel Insurance document in the holiday folders (Use the small card and the European healh insurance card for europe)
Still get every time that nagging feeling of forgetting something and then am not happy until I remember something I have forgotten, then i can relax.

I am more relaxed about trips to the USA than trips to Europe as I know I can get anything I want in the USA, where Europe is a bit of a roulette. Then again, Japan, now THAT'S a completly different story......:goodvibes

Me neither Alice.I get a case down 2 weeks before I go and put everything in as I buy it and put all the essentials in (camera video walkie talkies and all chargers).Everytime I think of something it goes in this case.I tend to pack about 4 days before I go and me and dh pack and unpack several times to see if we have enough or too much as we know we will buy a lot.We tend to take 6 cases(3 smaller ones inside the big ones). So we go out with three and come back with 6(all within the weight range).Has always worked for us so why brake a habit.;)

Hiya

I also work to a check list and tend to check it at least twice on the day I pack (u know like santa lol)

I am at present writing both the check list for this years trip, and for the wedding (which is as long as my arm already!)

my bit of advice is if you have your passport in a holder always make sure it is actually inside it, one of my friends didnt check and when she got to the airport she found hers wasnt inside her wallet.

Nice to know that there are some more freaky people out there like me too :thumbsup2 (I am not completely alone :goodvibes )

Oh, ouch!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

We also take little ear plug adaptors that allow us to plug our own headphones in to the aeroplane's sound system.
