So I could pick ether one, not both, right? But only if I win sumthing, right? Just want to make shur. As long as I dont haf to do math, I think Ill be oka.

;)

Are you inferring that you aren't well at math?

Fun contest, I will be entering every day :)

I also wonder if you get to choose the dates. Some dates are almost impossible to get off with my work.

I know the odds are bad but gives me something to day dream about anyway.

My trip this past August was a sweepstakes win! To answer the resort category question- Disney sends a travel questionnaire when you win a trip. It asks what airport you want to travel from, what times of day you wish to travel and lists all the DELUXE resorts. You are instructed to number your top 3 choices.

They sent us direct on Southwest Airlines at exactly the times we wanted. We chose the Polynesian and were so pleasantly surprised when we checked in and were given a Theme Park View in Tahiti. You can extend your trip and they offer your resort at a discount (we rented points instead).

Good Luck everyone! I would love to get those emails from Michael at Disney again with his sign offs of "Have A Magical Day!"

Oooooh, I like the sound of that. Congrats on your win! I'm glad it was such a nice surprise. :)

Oooh, now I really want to win! (As if I didn't anyway! :lmao:) I'd be happy with any of the 3 Epcot resorts. I was wondering about extending the trip, since we'd want to add another 4-5 night on.

Thank you so much mesaboy2 for pointing out my egregious spelling error that apparently needed to be pointed out by you. I was totally unaware that spelling errors on a web forum and stupidity are as synonymous as you have inferred them to be. This was not covered during my engineering or my MBA studies. Nonetheless, I’m happy for you that your days and nights will be filled with eradicating the web of spelling errors one poster at a time. Good for you!
By the way, in case you missed it, my only point was that I found this rule to be a bit draconian if not laughable and thought I’d make light of it.
Have a Happy New Year.

TenderDonkey, is that you?

I found this rule for the contest to be a bit puzzeling....

"Each Canadian resident who is a potential winner will be required to answer correctly a mathematical skill testing question without assistance of any kind whether mechanical or otherwise to be declared a winner and be eligible to collect a prize."

What gives with that? We let stupid Americans do anything they want.

I'm assuming that is a law or some stupid thing like that. Whenever there is any sort of giveaway, there is always a skill testing question. We even have to answer a math question to claim a prize for french fries on the McDonalds Monopoly game. I believe it has something to do with not being able to just give something away. Stupid yes, but alas, that is the way it is here.

Hey, so anyone out there who has ever actually won something like this...

When the contest rules say that the dates are determined by the company do they usually mean exact dates or a dates window?

Wondering because when I win :lmao: I'm hoping to be able to actually take the trip. As a teacher, if it's not during spring break, summer, or Christmas I would have to take leave w/o pay and risk my job also. Hoping they will be flexible with me when I win. ;)

But, then seriously, this question could apply to any winner. Many people have schedules that are not incredibly flexible.

This one may be different than previous ones in that there are 60 trips being awarded (rather than 1, or maybe 2). Not sure if they'd try to clump the trips together or spread them apart (or just let them fall as they may).

Can't enter here, tried two macs
Firefox and safari
Firefox loads the whole page but when you click enter all that happens is the screen turn light blue as if there is a popup trying to open
Safari just loads the castle background image and nothing else
:confused3

From what I'm reading in the rules, the trip has to be booked sometime between June 1, 2012 to June 1, 2013. And that there will be select dates within that year that are blacked out.

The taxes would be $2000 on a ~$6000 prize? I have never won anything major but 33% seems very high!

The website says: "hotel accommodations (one standard room/quad occupancy, including room tax)" There should not be any tax on the gift card portion so at most you may have to pay tax on the park tickets and airfare.

Not high at all. It's called "Gift Tax" and it's paid on any winnings of prizes or sweepstakes.

This from an IRS for Dummies website:

"You pay heavily on winnings of gain or cash or prize. What is not widely known is a thing called "the gift tax". It means you are taxed at 50% or more of the winning amount, or gift value. Federal, state and local combined wipes out 60% of the value of the cash or prize, normally."
Prize winning value is added to your income and taxed as ordinary income. It is not a gift.

I figured a federal tax bracket of 25% plus average state tax, ball parked a third.

(not to be taken as financial not tax advice)

Anyone else notice that it isn't rolling over from one day to the next at exactly midnight? I'm getting a "You have already entered today" message and I know I haven't entered in the last 25 minutes!

Anybody else enter by text? It was super easy.

I tried but never got a confirmation... My carrier (MetroPCS) doesn't always like automated SMS things, though. The downside of a ridiculously cheap cell phone bill.
