I had to take a form to a notary (which needed my id), fill it out and swear it was all correct = name/ address/ ssn or tax id for my tax form/ contact information, my immediate family members names, who we all worked for etc - that was it - it said I will receive my next package in 7 days...I'll keep everyone updated...

Congratulations....
Could you tell us if you entered through the website or by text message?
I've been entering by text and I think if a fedex envelope showed up after just typing in disneyday to a text number with no other info attached to it...I'd be very suspicious....

I entered via website :)

If you are entering a contest by text, they have your phone number which is assigned to a carrier, who sends you a bill, because they have your ADDRESS.:rotfl:

(I believe by using your cell to enter a contest you give consent to the carrier to give out your address to an interested party whom you have contacted first)

this could be totally wrong but it's how I would explain it.

The only thing it gives Disney is the right to text or call you back. No way it gives permission for my phone company to give my address to ANYONE who I have contacted in the past. I know Disney has my cell phone number on file so even though I did not provide it for this contest they could run it through their system and find my name and address.

I am confused...if you enter on your cell phone, how do they have your address to send a certified letter?

You know when you go to a store and they ask for your phone number and then suddenly the name that the phone bill is under starts getting mail from that store.

The phone company gave them your address.

We have books and websites that people with a public library card can access that ties your name, address, phone number and property ownership together. It's considered public access.

So it would not surprise me if they are following texts back to the root and coming up with your name and address then crossing against thier records. Heck if you make a ADR they require your cell number.

So i have a question. When reading the official rules it says open to one person/cell/address per day many times. The thing is they never say if address means physical address or email address. My DH hasn't been entering but if it means email address I will start making him text in an entry too.

Anybody know? I would hate to have him enter and win only to have to forfeit it bc we didn't understand the rules.

I am sure someone else will paste the rules again, but I believe it was determined that Disney is referring to email addresses. Hence, you and your husband could each enter daily if you have separate WDW accounts with different email addresses.

Does this help?

Entries are limited to one (1) Entry per person/Cell/Address for each Daily Sweepstakes, regardless of method of Entry or whether one person has more than one Cell/Address or more than one person use the same Cell/Address, resulting in a maximum of 60 Entries allowed for all Daily Sweepstakes. In event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an Entry, the Entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the Cell/Address is registered. Entries by any method other than set forth above in Section 3 are void.

Yeah, it's email address. :thumbsup2 I think this was hashed out somewhere back around page 10.

For me, it's YOAMD all over again.

Always a guest, never a winner.... (sigh)

I believe you won!!! I won a Disney trip in 2000 through a McDonald's game. The same thing happened, we got a Fed-Ex letter, had to fill out info, send it back for verification, and then a week or so later we got the details of what we won - they put us in the Beach Club!:)

Enjoy your trip!!

The statistical probability that three people who post on this forum out of the millions who entered the first week is highly, highly suspect.

If even one person from this site won for the entire duration of the contest that might be acceptable given the higher probablilty that people here will enter more often...but come on...THREE in the first drawing out of what, eleven winners???

I hope at least one win was true but other than that I cry foul. Sorry....just sayin'.

I've won two trips in contests & had to fill out similar info-but I never had to go to a notary:confused3

How do you swear at a notary-do you place your hand on a bible or smething?:confused3

Unless you know how many people TOTAL entered each day and how many of them were DISers then you have no way of knowing what the statistical probability is. Out of the 380,000+ members on this board, it isn't a stretch to imagine a great deal of them...Disney fans who know about the contest and CARE enough to enter daily...are actually entering. How many lay-people are probably entering? I'd say the statistics are pretty good that a winner could be someone from the DIS.

AND, what would be the purpose of lying? And what is the purpose of "crying foul"? Lying about a win has ZERO impact on whether someone else could win. It's not like they'd be stealing a win from someone else. And claiming someone isn't telling the truth serves YOU no purpose either...either you won on a specific day or you didn't. Doesn't matter how many other people claim to have won the prize. There is ONE true winner each day, and apparently thus far it ain't you or me.

To be fair, I've actually only seen one person on here confirmed they've won. The person from the resorts board never came back to update what their certified letter was, and I have no idea who this mystery 3rd person is that everyone keeps referring to.

My husband is a notary (but could not be a notary for me if I won). All a notary is is a legal witness. They are verifying that the signature is yours. You need proof of ID when going to a notary. There is no "swearing" on anything. It's just legal verification.

Watkinsme -- Sounds like you won! Congrats!!!

You don't swear to the notary. You swear that the info you have filled out is correct and sign it. The notary just merely attests to the fact that you are who you say you are and that is in fact your signature -- you must sign it in the presence of the notary (you must provide an ID to the notary if you're not personally known to them) -- they are notarizing your SIGNATURE not to the content of the Affidavit.
