Check In Details & Experience

Just trying to understand.
Is the "selfie" a photo of the individual from the shoulders up with a light background?
And the "passport photo" a photo of the entire passport? Not just the photo that was used on the passport and similar to the "selfie"?
That's correct. A photo of yourself, and a picture of your actual passport.

For booking kids club is this released at the same time or is it part of check in? Or do you have to be checked in before booking kids club slots? Not sure what to prioritize my online check in or trying to get kids club times I want.

It's a photo or scan of the entire passport page. I still have an HP printer/scanner so it was much easier to scan the passport page because it lies completely flat.

The nice thing about the passport upload is that if it's clear, it can read your information from the photo itself (name, passport number, etc.) and fill it into the form automatically.

Just be prepared that the automatic filling of the form may not work. I had to complete the passport information form even though clear .jpg scans of the passports had been submitted (and despite the fact that DCL has had our passport information on file already from multiple prior cruises).

Check in at midnight did not go quite as smoothly as I had hoped. No problem with our security photos but our passports were pdf and we could not upload them until my DH converted them to jpeg. Makes sense now as the instructions are to upload a photo or take a photo. Neither of our passports auto filled so the info had to be entered manually. In the end we got a 10:45 port arrival time and scheduled both of the Star Wars meet and greets so I am happy over all! Now we just have to wait for them to review the photos and try to stay healthy!

is it possible to get an early port arrival time (10:45 - 11:00) as a new cruiser? Or is everyone who gets these a silver or gold cruiser? I’m hoping for an early time slot as a new cruiser!

right now everyone checks in at 30 days so new cruisers can get an early PAT.
When using DCL transfers from WDW or the airport, they set your PAT for you. Ours is set for 10:15 and we're staying at AKL the night before. Going to be a long morning and bus ride.

Have you gotten any info yet when the bus is planning on picking you up? I've heard mixed reports -- some say they've been there super early and some say later like pre-pandemic. We are staying at AKL the night before too and am still debating between Uber and DCL transfer.

We are in the same boat but staying at the Poly. I'm seriously considering ordering an Uber that morning if the bus isn't going to be picking us up until around 11-1130 like they did a couple of years ago. I know I will have to eat the cost of that leg of the transfers but I'd rather get to the port earlier than later. If the testing mess wasn't in the picture it wouldn't be as big a deal but if the busses do pick up at 11:15 we wouldn't get to the port until around 12:30....testing could take another hour and then not be on the ship until around 2. If we Uber'd we could get there as soon as they start letting people in and be on the ship in one of the first boarding groups.

I ran into this too. I had scanned all of our IDs and birth certificates at work but didn't think about it needing to be a JPG. It wasn't hard to convert all of them but at midnight I was rather tired so it took longer than normal lol

In another thread in this forum, the consensus is of late (like the last 3-4 months) the DCL transfers were getting people there from the resorts earlier, and typically after 1 pm from the airport. I have not gotten any info on pickup time from our hotel. I've heard they schedule that a day or so before and you get an email the day before. Reports have said the transfers typically pick up people at 3-4 resorts taking about an hour, and then it's about an hour+ to get to PC from WDW. I'm assuming since AKL is located at the far SW corner of WDW property, we'll be the first ones on the bus, then get to a few more resorts on the way to PC vs. back-tracking to AKL then going to PC.

That's what I've been reading as well. Would be ideal if it stayed that way! When is your cruise? Please keep us updated :)

Last time we had a letter under our door at the resort the night before telling us when bell services would pick up the bags and when to meet in the lobby. The meet up time was about 15-30 minutes prior to when the bus was getting there to make sure everyone that was expected was there. There was a helpful DCL Cast Member who had all of our information, checked to make sure we had out travel documents and was on the radio with the bus driver so that we could know if there was enough time to run to the restroom or grab a snack before they got there. It was very smooth. I am just hoping they arrive early this time.

Next Saturday (2/5 EC cruise); getting into AKL Friday 2/4. No parks, just dinner at Disney Springs and some time to relax. Will do on the updates (as best I can).

Thank you so much! We are doing dinner the night before as well. Don't want to risk the parks before the cruise!
