The website and paperwork my son received states that he has to be in professional attire for check in day, traditions and training days. no problem, he's got the clothes (cause I just went out and bought em!:rotfl:)

Anyway, how long is check in? Will he have the opportunity to attend check in in professional clothes, and then change before he moves in to his apartment? This way he can be all professional looking and then get down to the nitty gritty of lugging all his stuff into his new room.

Thank you guys, this is a GREAT thread for him and for his nervous mom!

This is my first program, but from I've been able to gather, there probably won't be enough time between check-in and move in to change. I plan on wearing a short sleeve dress shirt and dress pants, which the Disney look allows and will probably just wear that.

If your son or you is concerned, what I would do is in the first load up to the room, take a set of cloths to change into, probably packed easy access, that way he can finish the rest of the unload in more comfortable cloths.

I guess I am confused as well. I thought (or maybe misinterpreted) that check-in day was casual dress? Or is it not casual for the entire day? Someone please confirm or deny/spell it out for me please!

You can wear whatever you want to check in and casting. Some people will say it could help you to dress professional but I wore shorts and a tshirt. You have to dress professional when you go to Disney University for traditions and training classes. Other than that you don't have a dress code away from your work location.

Oh but above your shoulders has to be "in the Disney look" for you apartment ID picture. So make sure he shaves and has his hair cut right.

Although the website says professional dress no one actually shows up to check-in day dressed that way. Most come in jeans. As long as shoulders are covered for your ID picture casual attire generally works. I think it's unnecessarily confusing that they tell us professional dress for check in yet everyone who has ever done the program says that most of the people there on check-in day didn't and no one mentioned it as a negative at all. Why would Disney tell us to do something that they don't expect us to do and don't care if we do or not? It's frustrating but alas, they do anyway.

Okay, so it's okay if he wears dockers and a polo to check in? I know it's not the disney look, but its also not just jeans and t's...can he wear his sneakers? he'll be shaved with a fresh haircut.

Right. If people show up wearing flip flops and regular sandals without problem then wearing sneakers (which are more "formal" than flip flops which are essentially the definition of "anti-formal") is totally acceptable.

unless they're changing it for spring semester, even that is too dressed up. Hair/facial hair etc. have to be in the Disney Look at check in, but you can wear whatever you want. I had on shorts and a t-shirt and sneakers as did almost everyone in line (August check in)
