Sorry if this has already been posted but I searched and couldn't find anything on it! I've seen you have to be 21 for the on-site hotels, but I've also seen that for other hotels I've been to but I e-mailed them to ask and they told me I would be allowed to check in at 18. (This includes a JW marriott in Atlanta with a mini bar full of alcohol that they even gave me the key to! Not like I was going to drink or anything though) We're going to universal for 3 days before heading to Disney and it'd be really convenient to stay on site. I'll be 20 when we travel in August (3 months away from the big 21) and was wondering if anybody had some experience with this?? I e-mailed the hotel on Sunday but haven't gotten a reply yet so I figured this would be a good place to ask! Thanks!

Thanks, I didn't even think to look on the main site usually because I can't find it on the main site for most hotels so I just e-mail them about it. I guess I won't be able to stay on site which really is a dis advantage to guests under 21 who would like to stay on site and have free access to the express pass. I guess I've decided to stay at the Hyatt Grand Cypress since it's a 4* and they offer free transportation. Could you give me some information on the crowds august 15-18? If they're heavy I'll probably use the money I save on the hotel and just pay 30 a day/person for the express pass lol.

Have you looked into staying at one of the closer hotels?

Here is a link to the partner hotels that have free transportation.

If you look at the prices of the Loews hotels you can usually judge the expected crowds. By mid August, a lot of schools are back in session and the crowds are going down.

I imagine they keep the check in age 21 because with the theme parks right there, the groups of kids booking hotel rooms might get out of control. Disney has the same policy.

I'm really spoiled by those 4 star hotels lol and didn't see any 4 stars when I looked at the packages besides of course the lowes properties. The hyatt seems very nice and was one of the only ones that had free transportation. We were originally going to stay at the JW but decided against that since they didn't offer free transportation.
Disney actually has a minimum check-in age of 18! So I'll be fine there :) Plan on staying at the GF!

Instead of emailing Loews call the hotel directly. Explain your situation, tell them your age and birthdate and ask them if they could just keep the key to the locked mini bar. Its worth a shot, I would call!

Thanks! I probably will do that just to be EXTRA sure I wouldn't be allowed to stay there... lol you can never be to sure of things like vacations!

Double check to make sure it is 18 since a lot of the websites say it is 21 and some places that are normally 18 have a spring break policy.
Another hotel you might want to check is the Peabody -- if you are looking at many star resorts. Not sure on the free transportation or check in age but it is only 5 minutes away from Universal.

Thanks I'll have to look into it! I've been reading the disney parts of the boards and did a search for check in age and all the posts I've read have said 18 and they've said people have had no problems at check in!

i really doubt you can be under and check in ........have the ressie in your name.

when my son was 20, he was not allowed to make the ressie in his name.

they hold to the 21 age pretty tight even if you are a few months or weeks shy of checking in to the on site hotel.

The Hyatt and Disney World Hotels are 18, not sure about Peabody.
