Switched AAA rate of $159.20 to
APH rate of $137.57avg ($129weekdays, $159weekends)

Wow.. everyone must have grabbed up all the APH room at the RPR.. BUT I was lucky enough to grab an AP rate at the portofino.. 189 a night (only staying one night on a sat night) So.. I consider that a pretty decent rate! Pretty much only about 20 more than i paid last year.. and I would pay much more for the FOTL!!! Always a pleasure!

I can see how someone might have saved $700. My rate went from $238 with taxes to $179. I had to get 2 rooms, for 2 nights, so I saved $236 total. My dates are 8/2 - 8/4 and BTW, the $238 rate was a AAA rate.

had hrh at 237 per night
switched to rpr at 159 per night
we staying 9 nights

Awesome - thanks for the info.

Just saved $470. We are staying August 21-31 at the Portofino. We had a AAA rate of around $230 a night. Now our AP rate is $179 a night (except for 2 nights, which is $209 per night).

Of course, I have to buy an AP now. I was originally planning on getting 4 of the 14 day/5 park passes since we are doing WnW, SW and BG. So I'll have to buy one day passes for SW ($55), BG (~$50) and and WnW ($35, less 25% for AP discount), since the AP doesn't cover those parks. So my net savings is really $385. In addition, we'll save a ton with the AP discount on food and merchandise.

Thanks again.

I already have my rooms booked for our August trip (APH Rate of $211). Am I correct that all I have to do is call the hotel and ask them to apply the current, lower rate of $159 to my ressie?

If the hotel is out of APH rates, will I have a problem getting the current lower rate applied to my ressie?

I hope it all works out. This credit will pay for our buffet breakfast in the Island's Restaurant  ...thanks to all you good people!

Thanks for this thread - we had HRH booked from 8/12 - 8/19 at $237 a night, but now have changed to 8/27- 9/2 for $179 first night and $149 for the last 5, we've saved a fortune and managed to switch around with our Disney hotel :)
