Cheapest way to get annual pass

Help needed...we are visiting Disney World this summer as part of a Disney Vacation Sports package. We get a 3 day park hopper ticket as part of the package. I want to upgrade that ticket to an Annual Pass. Can we upgrade these tickets once we have used one day on the tickets?? The reason I ask is our Disney Travel agent told us we can only upgrade these tickets prior to our arrival and can only upgrade these tickets to 4, 5, or 6 day tickets and cant upgrade to Annual Passes. From everything I am reading on these forums, even if a ticket is purchased from UT or another discount service, they can be upgraded. Any advice?? Thanks a million!!

Sports/Convention/etc tickets follow different rules than regular MYW tickets, even discounted ones. I believe that your agent is correct, but I'll double check tomorrow if I remember.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated....It just doesn't make any sense why they would not allow you to upgrade. Im not even worried about bridging the price. Its all good regardless...no biggie.

3. Won't matter if you ordered directly from Disney. Disney tickets don't get price-bridged. But, if you bought from a discounter, the price will be bridged.

So if I buy a park ticket with a package that was booked with the pre-price increase ticket price and then upgrade to an AP, I'll have to pay the difference between the old price and the AP price? But, if I buy a pre-price increase ticket from a discounter, use it and then upgrade to an AP, I'll pay the difference between the new ticket price and the AP? So I'll pay less with my discounter ticket than with my bought-through-Disney-with-a-package ticket when upgrading? Or are tickets bought with packages bridged too?

1. No. They WILL price-bridge a WDW Resort Package ticket.
2. Yes. But, it will work the same for a WDW Resort Package ticket.
3. Tickets bought as part of a WDW Resort Package ARE considered to be DISCOUNTED tickets.

Again, "Direct from Disney" tickets are stand-alone tickets (no "resort package") bought via the Disney website or on the phone (or at the WDW gates.)
"Direct from Disney" tickets are not price-bridged.

Tickets sold at a "deep discount" (some "Event tickets" fit this situation) cannot be upgraded.
I have no idea what the Sports Travel Pkg. tickets are.)

Robo, I'm curious if anyone has reported doing this since the price increase. I'm just curious and a little anxious about making sure my numbers are correct. Am I right in thinking that the bridged price for a 7 day PH to an AP is about $330?

How to figure the cost to upgrade after price-bridging an eligible ticket is to subtract the current new gate price of the ticket that you HAVE from the current new gate price of the ticket that you WANT, and pay that difference to upgrade.

Thank you. I was having a hard time finding the price with tax of the current 7 day PH, but I just figured it out on the WDW site. :)

If you were told specifically that you can only upgrade prior to arrival my guess is that it is considered a convention ticket. Those are sold by Disney at a substantial discount to the organization and cannot be upgrade onsite.

Dang...I hate to hear that...we were really interested in upgrading to an annual pass and visiting the park 2-3 more times over the next year. Hmmm...back to the drawing board, huh?? Our son's baseball team is competing at the Wide World of Sports complex and staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort as part of the package. I just figured since we were purchasing through Disney Sports Travel, upgrading those tickets wouldn't be any different than upgrading a ticket bought with a military discount or through undercover tourist. Don't really make sense to me but oh well...

I sincerely appreciate the information you all have provided. :)

I was hoping to upgrade my 10-day ticket to an AP in May. I'm just doing this for my ticket and I get that you need to "use" a day, then upgrade to the AP, but I also want to buy the TIW card for our vacation and I'm not sure how that works? We arrive on Friday night and don't hit the parks until Sunday. Can I go in on Saturday alone to "use" a day (just get through the gate, turn around and go back out) and have them upgrade me to an AP at the counter? Once I'm upgraded to an AP, how do I get the TIW card? Can I get it right away?

Ok so if I buy the 7 days plus 3 days free hoppers for park savers for $370.98 when we go to upgrade them we would get a credit of $424.94 which is the price for a 7 day hopper?
You should get current price credit for 10 day hoppers, $499.49, since that is what you really have. There is no such ticket as a 7 day plus 3 free. That is a marketing statement from Park Savers to word it that way.

Now that the price has gone up, I believe the new price of the 7 day PH is 467 (this is with tax). If I'm understanding everyone correctly, it'll be the difference between 467 and 797, which is about $330.

We have 3 Disney trips coming up and it is just going to be cheaper to get an annual pass. My husband is military and I thought if we bought it through shades of green we could save the tax but that doesn't seem to be the case. I am still waiting from a call back from them.

So should we buy tickets through park savers and then upgrade after the first use? Or is there a better offer out there?

MIL can get tickets through GE 5 day hoppers for $339 would that be cheaper option ?
Just be aware that the Disney Salute tickets (4 day park hoppers) cannot be upgraded. They are what they are.

Yes, but I believe you have to get the TiW card from Guest Services--not at a ticket booth--so you would want to use the ticket to enter the park, then go straight to Guest Services to do the upgrade and purchase your TiW card at the same time.

I just putting what the website said so people knew which ticket I have. Yes it is a 7day hopper for $370

Yes! The price increase actually help us save more money.

I was not talking about salute tickets. Shades of green sell many other tickets including annual passes. In this case it was just cheaper to go through park savers.
