Hi! I am new here and am very greatful for all of your wonderful information. I realize it is cheaper to book as soon as prices are released but what if my husband and I are planning a cruise for this spring to try it out and want to book a cruise with the kids for 2010. Would it be better to book next month when the 2010 prices are released or wait until we cruise in February and rebook onboard for the 10% off and the OBC? Because we are a family of five we would be getting 2 rooms. Hope this makes sense.

Book when they are released and direct or with a TA, then when on the ship check the prices, if they havent increased cancel and rebook with OBC discount

Exactly right--book ASAP, preferably thru DCL. Then check at the rebooking desk while onboard. If it is the same price, you can rebook while onboard and cancel the original ressie. If the price has increased, you locked in the cheaper rate.

As long as you didn't use a TA for the original booking, they can even give you the same cabin as you originally had and roll over your deposit.

Disneydreamer, you may also consider booking with Dreams Unlimited...when we went on our cruise they gave us a great onboard credit. Even if you book onboard you can transfer your reservation to them and keep both credits/discounts.

Enjoy your vacation!

:thumbsup2

Ok, further question....

We are going on the Magic on the Nov. 1 Western. According to reports, the 2010 cruises could very well go "on sale" by the 21st (of course, just 1 week before we leave!!)

If I book a cruise on the 21st, then go on the ship, would they let me have the shipboard credits, etc for the same cruise. For instance (and I am just throwing out numbers here, I know they are probably not correct)

On Oct 21st I book a Cat 10 for a Baltic Cruise for $10K
I go on the ship, and tell them I already have a future date booked. A category 10 for the same cruise, etc is now $12K. Could they give me the 10% off the $10K price and shipboard credit I got on the booking on Oct. 21st, or would I only get the 10% off the 12K price??

Did that make any sense whatsoever??? :rotfl2:

They will only ever give you 10% off the pice booked on ship, if you book before you would have to cancel that one and rebook if you thought the overall price would be cheaper. 10% is off the main cruise price and not any extras.

Nope, the deal only goes for cruises booked on board.

Thanks for all the replies. I will book as soon as the prices come out direct with disney, recheck prices while onboard, and probably transfer my reservation to dreams unlimited after that. I love that you get to keep your onboard credits from your initial reservation plus any credits dreams unlimited are offering!:cool1:

Is that standard for DCL to offer you 10% while you are on their ships..to get you to rebook another cruise? Is it every time you cruise DCL or just the 1st time?

Its a deal that has been on both of the ships for a long time and most likely will stay in some form or other. No restrictions as to 1st or subsequent cruisers.
