When we to disney last year, I found the cheapest way to book was through our travel agent. Does anyone have a different outlook on this?

NO!! We used a travel agent the last 2 trips. I will never book again by myself!!! It was so simple. She took care of everything and even looked for discounts!!!!

Good travel agents are probably the best unless you have a lot of knowledge about the rates and packages that are available. Travel agents will also help to make sure you always have the lowest rate if things change.

With the internet you have the opportunity to shop around for the best deal. At any given time, a TA may be able to get the best deal for you depending on Disney promotions, discount code offerings, etc. at the time. For example, one trip we did I pieced together the components myself (airfare, Disney hotel with a discount code, park tickets, etc.) and I believe I saved quite a bit over a Disney package or TA pacjkage at the time. The last time we went (July 2005) I purchased a Disney hotel/tickets package through AAA with the AAA discount and found my own airfare because that was the best I cound find. I would ask a TA for a quote and evaluate the price of the quote against what alternatives you can find on the internet and elsewhere and then inquire as to the difference with the TA if you find something cheaper. Good luck.

Truthfully, it all depends on your travel agent...prior to us buyig DVC we had local travel agent we really liked. She left the agency and went to work for a major airline. he other agents just weren't the same. If you find an agent you like, stick with them.

We just booked a package with AAA (MYW dining) and they were able to save us about $400 on the price of the package... a pretty good savings I thought.

IMO AAA is worth the price of membership regardless of whether you use it for disney or not. The roadside assistance, insurance rates and other discounts are valuable to my family and I. On top of it, AAA was the best thing going when we went on our last WDW trip in July 2005.

AAA saved us $57 dollars on the package for our next trip. That doesn't sound like much, but we get several perks with that deal. Also the package is for POP, so there may not be much discount available.

I also used AAA to book a hotel for the trip down. The final cost for the room with tax was the cheapest starting price (no tax included) I could find.

With the perks and the discounts I am expecting to save about $150 from expenses that I would have payed anyway.

I also get to park in the AAA Diamond Parking, so less walking to and from the parks. :cool1:

In th epast I have always booked our trips only because the one time we did use AAA I was not able to make any changes the TA had to do it all. She was great but we have a DS who is handicapped and I was dealing with Special Requests and had to keep calling TA to call SR etc...it was not easy. I have done all the trips since then myself (we get on e AP and use that pricing for the hotel). If we didnt have the speical circumstances I would use AAA again. They were very nice.
