So I just seen air fare watch dog list the prices' for GRR to MCo for $198. I paid $240. Can I get a refund?

What airline did you book? Most economy fares are non-refundable meaning you can't get a refund or reduction unless you pay a hefty change fee, but a small few (like SW) will give you credit toward a future flight.

I booked with AirTran. That's $22 cheaper each way, x's 3. Even if we got baggage credit.

I would call AirTran and ask about the refund/change policy on the fares you booked.

Its actually $42 per ticket, round trip. That would more then pay for my baggage. I think Im gonna have to call them.

Unless Air Tran has changed their policies (which is always possible since they are merging with Southwest), I don't think you can get a refund for the price difference in the tickets. Doesn't hurt to ask though. Good luck!

Is the flight you actually booked less now or was it just a blast that said air is running at $198 now? There is a big difference. I am constantly getting e-mails from various websites (that I signed up for) saying air to MCO is now $XX, but when I look for actual flights, there isn't anything like that.

Not sure what Airtran will do, but make sure you're comparing fares for the same flight.

I did just that. I went and checked my dates and the price is still the same as what I paid. I guess I dont understand these sites like airfare watchdog. I cant find the price they are advertising.

If it's an actual drop in the fare, Airtran will give you a credit. I just got $64 credit on a flight to Tampa for February this morning. I've also gotten about $30 for my Orlando flight tomorrow.

Good luck!

AirTran has twice given me a travel voucher for the difference in price. Very nice! I have a family of 6 flying in January on US Air, the round trip price just dropped $890 total!!! But they won't give me a travel voucher without paying the $150 change fee, which would be $900, so it would cost me $10 :-(. I'm going to call again an speak with a manager to see what they can do, but I'll just fly AirTran/Southwest going forward for this very reason. I did let the person on the call know to log my complaint and that I will no longer fly US Air because I this. Doubt it will do anything.

Anyone have any ideas or strategies to try and get a voucher???

No. US Airway's policy is stated right on their website. It's the same as almost every other airline; they charge $150 per ticket for a change fee for nonrefundable tickets for domestic flights. Speaking with a manager isn't going to change anything. And no, the airline won't care if you never fly them again.

Agree that US Air has it posted. Never hurts to try. But not all airlines follow this policy. I just got a $55 travel voucher from AirTran for a drop in price for a flight I have with them in December. As a friend told me she did the same with Southwest, which makes sense because they are merging. So I'll be flying those airlines in the future.

All US airlines charge a ticket change fee for nonrefundable tickets except for AirTran, WN, and JetBlue.

No ideas or strategies because it's simply not possible. When we choose airfare by price and purchase the least expensive, most restricted, nonrefundable fares, we agree to all the conditions associated with those fares. "I didn't know...", "Nobody told me...", "Do you know who I am?", "But all the other airlines are doing it!", etc., has no effect.

United's policy on nonrefundable fares is that there is a $150 per ticket per change fee even just to get a lower fare. This aligns with all the other legacy carriers.
