Yup and that thread is now closed and no one can add to it which means it will become buried and not bumped.

Well, even though the thread was closed, the important thing is that everything was coming together and a family that could use a bit of help is going to get it as a result of some very kind people. That's a good thing! I'm sure we'll hear about the trip once everyone's back. They weren't leaving for a week, so it will probably be 2 weeks until there's an update.

I'm just glad I had a chance to be a lurker in the magic...

It's too bad about the thread closing. But at least with what the moderator said about it closing and why we now know what to avoid doing/saying. I was moved to tears by everyone's generosity. Hope they have a great trip!

I'd like to add (since I never got a chance to reply to the OP) that

* I agree the POP would be much more convenient with the electric chair.
* Tell the family -- and all the clogger's families -- about the "split a double burger" idea
* Tell them about bringing in crystal light or other water additives
* Remind them that they can bring in snacks to the park

Good luck and post an update when you get back.. or before you go even!

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when ugadog99 tells this family about her surprise. I hope that she posts a trip report. I'd love to hear how it turned out for that family.

I never saw the post by Ugadog99 as a solicitation. If anything, I thought it was remarkable how so many people stepped forward to want to do something magical for someone else. To me, that is what the Disney magic is all about.

Sad how some threads are truly questionable in integrity, but the one thread that pulls so many people together gets banned. Go figure.

I love the DIS, but some of the threads that closed never violate any rules or terms of the board at all. If a mod doesn't like it, it goes bye-bye.

I really wish whoever decided that the thread about "help a friend" would go back and reread it with an open mind.

The OP NEVER ONCE solicited anyone. It was a question of cheap/free things to do while in WDW for a disadvantaged family. Everything that was done to make this family’s trip more magical was from the goodness of the hearts of those on the Dis.

The season of giving is upon us and complete strangers here on the DIS stepped forward and showed how caring the world can be.

I know I am not the only one that thinks the moderators were out of line this time!!! Very poor judgment!!!!!!!!!!

Walt would be disgusted with you just like many of the faithful here is!!!!!!!!!
