Cheap(ly) made tickets (minor rant)

I don't know what those tickets are made of, but you're not in any trouble - just take them to Guest Relations at any of the parks and they will re-issue the ripped ticket for you.
I went over to AAA and had them replace the one with the cut. Not taking any chances.

There is a lot of discussion about the hard plastic and the paper Tyvek tix but none about these. But just out of curiousity, WHAT ARE THESE THINGS MADE OF?? It looks like the scratch came from a paper clip that was holding a batch of them. That doesn't sound all that durable. My Universal tix are the same material. I am not a worried about those because I am staying on site there and the room key is your FOTL pass. But these will be going in and out of Fastpass machines all day...Again, just curious, has anyone else used these tix?

I'm afraid I'm not sure what tickets those are. I have heard that people have gotten different types of tickets from AAA.

We are picking up a couple from our local AAA as soon as they come in - I'll look at them.

The Tyvek tickets are pretty flexible - are you sure they aren't those? What's printed on the front?

They may be made out of a 'hard' Tyvek(?) but they are not the flexy 'fedex envelope' kind that you get from Undercover Tourist. We have gotten those before so we know what they are like. They are like a piece of paper with a soft plastic coating. They look like a movie ticket on one side and they each have a different picture on the other side.

Curiosity - if you have non-expiring tickets, can they put those on a room key? What if you have days left? Will the room key still work for admission?

I know that they do NOT put APs on the room keys.

Any ticket media CAN be put on a room key, including an AP. These will continue to work just fine after you check-out.

As WillCad noted, the use of Room Keys for long term ticket media storage isn't the best choice, but odds are you are just going to have them moved to your next room key on your next trip.. so no harm no foul.

Even if the strip demagnetizes, the numbers on the face of the room key are all that's needed to re-issue the tickets on whatever media you prefer. Frankly, both Tyvek and the plastic room keys can demagnetize.. so it's probably six of one, or a half dozen of the other. ;)

Those sound like the standard Tyvek tickets to me...there are like six or eight possible images, and I think they have a black bar at the top and bottom (like a letterbox movie...).

I think the APs should be made plastic like a credit card. It always makes me mad. They cost a lot of money and if they get bent at all they won't work right. Every year at least one of us has problems at the gate because of it. I wish they wouldn't be such cheapskates about some stuff.

DL APs are plastic credit-card-like cards. At least - the So-Cal Resident ones are. And we have the least expensive ones with all the blackout dates. Never had a problem.

(actually - I noticed the last time I was there (on my birthday) that when they scanned me in - a message popped up on the CM's screen that said "Happy Birhday!" :wizard: That was fun - I didn't know they did that.)

(guest relations is INSIDE the park gates, right?).

No, each park has a guest relations outside of the gates. MK's is to the right, over by stroller rentals, Epcot's is to the right, before the gates, AK's is to the left just past the ticket booths, and MGM's is to the way left before you enter as well.

in MK, i was thinking that guest relations was over on the left on Main Street, so that helps, but the stroller rental is still PAST the ticket gates, right? you mention that AK's is past the ticket booths, too. guest relations opens at the same time the park opens, as well, right? i sometimes get the function of the TTC and the parks' guest relations confused, though.

i only mentioned this because i'm assuming that if someone goes out of their way to buy their tickets in advance, they probably don't want the hassle of dealing with getting a new ticket reissued at 9am on the first day of their trip!

We've always had the credit card type tickets.

..just noticed that you were the op....so glad you got the new ticket prior to your trip!
have a great time!

Hi all!
So we were at BCV and I was taking a shower, and my DH decided to do some laundry. About 5 minutes later I get a knock on the door "Hey honey, where's your room key?" "In the back pocket of my shorts with my AP... why?" "Uh, no reason..." *door open* *door close* *footsteps*

Yup, you guessed it. In the wash.

AP still works. It also has an eeeensy little bump in the side (I can't really call it a tear!) where I tried to rip it.

On the other hand, my KTTW card... well, it still let me in the room, but I lost all the charging privileges on it & needed to get it reissued.

Plastic vs. Tyvek
Winner: Tyvek

Guest Relations at MK is by stroller rentals, but not inside the park. Just go through the bag check area, then head to the far right. I had to go there back in November when I lost my APs. You do not have to enter the park.

That sounds a little like the tickets from the Disney Store, which I always thought were thin plastic (about 1/2 the thickness of a KTTW card,) but now that I think about it, they could be a thicker variety of Tyvek.

They look like this (sorry this is the only image I could find)...I can post an actual picure of mine later tonight.

The stroller rental is by the gates, guest relations bumps up to it, and when I said AK's was after the ticket booths, I meant where you purchase tickets, not where you actually enter the park. And I'm not sure what time guest relations open, but if it was me, I would like to get it resolved before I got to a park since the guest relations line can be long and slow.

Those look exactly like the APs I got earlier this year made of Tyvek. Can't be sure without holding one in my hand though.

I just checked my APs, and they look exactly the same as well. I had the black bars on the wrong edges. And the same as the MYW tickets I had last year from a travel agent. All Tyvek.

If there is yet another type of ticket (other than being transferred to room keys), I haven't seen it.

OK maybe they are a harder Tyvek. The ones we got from Ticketmania a few years ago were flexier and more like a Fedex envelope. These are more a cross between paper and light cardboard with like a very thin plastic coating on them. They flex but not as much as the Tyvek I remember from before.
