So I was planning a trip to Disney in December with my Boyfriend and he made me wait too long to book the trip so we unfortunately could not get a value resort with or with out my annual pass discount. (yes I have an annual pass and I have to say off property, sad I know) I am a college student so i don't have a ton of money to spend on the hotel, I would have very much preferred staying on property but it's not going to happen. So I was wondering if anyone knew a nice hotel that was very close to the Disney property (hopefully near the downtown Disney area) that was not too much money.

Also my mom told me about a place in Ocala, FL that if you go to (i think its the welcome center) they can give you a discount on hotels. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank you sooo much!

What are your dates and for how long will you be staying.

I got a room at the Hotel Royal Plaza for the end of November through a special mousesavers newsletter for a rate of $79.00 which includes a free upgrade and 2 free breakfasts. I got my upgrade to a poolside room. The Hilton usually has good deals through allears, mousesavers or mouseplanet

There are a ton of hotels close to WDW. International Drive has Doubletree Castle Hotel, Embassy Suites Orlando, Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn & Suites Convention Center, Hyatt Place Orlando, La Quinta Inn International Drive, Springhill Suites By Marriott, Staybridge Suites Orlando International Drive.

Lake Buena Vista Area has Buena Vista Suites, Caribe Royale Orlando All-Suites Hotel and Convention Center, Country Inn & Suites Lake Buena Vista, Courtyard by Marriott Lake Buena Vista at Vista Centre, Embassy Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort, Residence Inn by Marriott Lake Buena Vista, Sheraton Safari Hotel and Suites Lake Buena Vista, Sheraton Vistana Resort, Springhill Suites by Marriott – Marriott Village, Staybridge Suites Lake Buena Vista.

Celebration/Kissimmee Area has Best Western Lakeside, Celebration Hotel, Clarion Hotel Maingate, Comfort Suites Maingate East, Comfort Suites Maingate West, Holiday Villas, Holiday Inn Maingate East, La Quinta Inn & Suites Orlando Maingate, Radisson Resort Orlando-Celebration, Radisson Resort WorldGate, Royale Parc Suites–a Quality Suites® Resort.

There are 6 DTD Hotels; Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort Hotel, Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa, Doubletree Guest Suites Resort, Regal Sun Resort, Hilton Resort, Royal Plaza.

All are decently close :) Lots to choose from! I looked on Mapquest and there are several that are "right there". Of course the DTD ones are right by DTD.

Hotwire has hotels for as cheap as $22 nt. Have used them once, and got a 4 star hotel for $48 a nt. It was one mile from Seaworld, and that is the area that I requested. I would use them again.

thanks!

We are going from December 11th to the 15th

I checked All Star Sports online and they have a discounted room for $74 available for Dec 13th to Dec 15th in a preferred room.
They are blacked out for the 11th and 12th..

It might be worth it to move to on property on Sunday Dec 13th for the rest of your stay...

I've kind of run into the same problem. We have to go to Orlando the first weekend of December for a one day training class. I was going to try to get a value just for the long weekend. Everything is booked up. I am going to check when the 45 day mark rolls around for people going in that same time frame. Hopefully, some people will cancel and a room will open up. If not, I'll be saying off site too. Check out the website for mouse savers...they give a list of recommended hotels in the area. Good luck!

Try using Book it! We stayed 2 nights at the Regal Sun Resort through them for $59 ($68 with resort fee and taxes) a night and it was awesome!! It is RIGHT across the street from DTD, it was much faster for us to walk than drive there. Given the choice, I'd rather stay at that resort than on property but probably won't ever be able to b/c of the dining plan. There are buses to Disney almost constantly, a character breakfast, gift shop, etc. We were also upgraded free to a Disney Tower View room with a view of the fireworks. Those beds were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on! Good luck!

Also my mom told me about a place in Ocala, FL that if you go to (i think its the welcome center) they can give you a discount on hotels. Does anyone know anything about this?

I just wanted to add that unfortunately the beloved Disney/AAA Welcome Center in Ocala closed in 2005, and is sadly missed by lots of tourists who always stopped on the way to WDW for their first taste of Disney magic to come ;)

If it were me, I would book something that has a very liberal cancellation policy, and then keep trying for the on property stay. Trying at the 45 day point is good, and even trying at the 6 or 5 day point to catch the room only cancellations might work. Then if you do manage to get on property, you can cancel the other room without penalty. If you don't, you have somewhere else to stay. Best of both worlds, I think.

Try at the 45 day mark and then again around the 30 day. We were booked with at free dining pin and nothing was available at the values booked moderate. I called last week and I asked for pop and they said it was available. That was around the 29 day mark. I called at the 45 day and there was still nothing. It saved me 580.00. .

If you call Disney for a reservation, and there is nothing you want, ask what they have to offer as a Good Neighbor Hotel. Disney sells from a selection of dozens of different non-Disney hotels, and of various room types.

I have stayed at hotels on 192 just west of "Main Gate" aka World Drive. I would say they're as "real close" as you can get.

Try the Orlando Vista in Lake Buena Vista it is literally right beside the entrance to downtown disney and they have a promo on right now that if you buy so many nights you get some free (through expedia.com) or even try looking at the Comfort Inn lake buena vista (just down the road from the Vista) another cheap spot but again really close to downtown Disney and the crossroads (good spot for lots of restaurants) and both hotels have shuttles that take you to all the parks for free. Good luck planning!!

I have stayed off-property most trips.
I usually go for a Disney Good Neighbor Resort.
I find that they have a bit better standard and that IF there is a problem, they QUICKLY fix it.
I actually have had better, more luxurious stays in cheap off-property hotels than at Disney. Off-property has to offer more to get people in.

My favorite Off-Property is The Royale Parc Suites (Quality Suite).
http://www.royaleparcsuitesorlando.com/
It is next to Celebration on Rt. 192 (sits back off the road a bit)
We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite with kitchenette, living dining area 2 flat screen tvs, egyptian cotton sheets for $90 a night
A 1 bedroom is around $65.
They include a free hot breakfast buffet, 24 hour free gourmet coffee, each evening there is a manager's reception at the pool bar with free beer, wine, and soft drinks.
LOVELY hotel.

We have also stayed at the Quality Suites Lake buena vista for about $75 a night.
Full kitchen, 2 queen beds, separate living room, hot breakfast buffet in the morning.

We have also stayed at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista.
They usually have a $59 sign outside.
standard room with frig, microwave, coffee pot, deluxe continental breakfast

The other hotel we enjoyed 2 years ago was the Galleria Palms. It is right off of World Drive 2 lights down on the West side of Rt. 192.

Nicely decorated rooms, slightly small, double sinks, plus a wet bar sink in the room, frig and microwave, queen beds, small hot breakfast buffet.

The lake buena vista hotels are EASY access to Disney. They are across the street from DTD. They tend to be a little more expensive and crowded than the kissimmee hotels.
If you are in the lake buena vista area, go to Chevy's restaurant at the crossroads. Delicious fresh made mexican food. AND they have a balloon animal guy who will make you anything you want!

btw, look for hotels on places like expedia or hotels.com.
They often have great prices.
BUT do NOT book through them.
Just call the resort directly and tell them the price and ask them to price match.
I have always been successful with price matching when I ask!
