OK this is a long shot.

Would you believe that today I received in the post a wedding invitation of a good friend of mine in Perth, Australia and it's on December 28th !!!

I don't think we're gonna be able to go unless I can get a couple of cheap flights or at worse a reasonable one for me.

I'm thinking at this late stage I won't be able to get a good rate. I've already checked on Expedia and they're asking £2,000.

Anyone got any other bright ideas  I would really like to go to this wedding. I have to add that since the invitation came through, Paul hasn't mentioned it all day..........mmmmm..........me thinks the decision has been made :(

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most Australians and Kiwis who are planning to return home, try to do so for the Christmas and summer time over there. This means that December is the busiest time of the year to be flying to Australia. Someone wrote an earlier thread asking about flights to Australia and I listed a few airlines and travel agencies who specialise in these routes. Try Trailfinders in Kensington High Street and Austravel in central LOndon. If they cannot find you a good deal then no one can. Sometimes there is last minute availability but you will have to be persistant. But I am afraid that your chances of finding something really cheap (700 pounds or under) are pretty slim.

Sorry!

OK no worries I've just realised this. And after listening to Paul I realise that there is no way he would be able to have that much time off from work after Xmas anyway. And it really isn't worth paying to go all that way and only going for a week. I'll have to break the bad news to my friend Claire.

Thanks Sue :)

Just curious. How long of a flight is to Aussie land? My Mom & Dad went years ago and I seem to remember my Mom having some problems on that flight.

Olaf...the flight to Australia from Pommy Land is a loooooooooong one................
A real loooooooooooong one....................;)

But, you needn't go direct..............you can do a stopover which is the best way to do it. I've never done it personally, but I have a cousin who does it regularly & they stopped over in Bahrain last time & a friend of hers stopped over in Malaysia.
