oops!

sorry, been on Facebook mostly via my touch. Haven't been in the mood for chatting or sleuthing online much lately. Using the touch for here is kinda hard .. teeeeny teeeeny tiny little letters.
Hubby and I have been collecting stuff for months now for SIL's expected little guy. We had a bit of family drama when she called in tears saying she couldn't come. The original plan was she would drive here (1 1/2 hours) to pick up all the stuff to take home. MIL was going to go with because SIL (she's 30 weeks now) didn't want to drive alone.
Well then BIL decided he wanted to come too.. except he had to work on Saturday, not off until after 7 pm. (And they would leave the next day, mid morning because MIL gets nervous about staying late and the cats are alone)
MIL calls and asks if it's okay if they don't come until late and BIL (who never apologized for his last visit behavior) will be coming too.. I'm like <sigh> sure whatever, but BIL better behave himself! (MIL laughed it off, ummm I was serious!!!)
Minutes later..... SIL calls and I have to wait for the sobs to quiet down to figure out what the heck??

Turns out, she called BIL and told him "okay fine you can come, but I want to drive straight through - no stopping. And I want to stay later the next day, because what's the point of going if we only have a few hours to visit?"

Sounds reasonable right???
Well apparently SIL is not entitled to an opinion and can't make the decision about not stopping. Rant, rave, argue...
MIL finds out they had a fight, she gets mad. Decides she is NOT going. SIL tried to talk to her, she hangs up on her.
>>>>> okay, so I tell all this to DS17 and he replies " what are they like 13??" Why not have grandma and Auntie drive up together and uncle can come later?
>>> DUH!!! <<<
So we call everyone back and offer this solution.
MIL doesn't return calls.
SIL puts on a brave face and drove here by herself!!

WE had an AWESOME visit!
(and I didn't have to deal with MR Butt head BIL)

It was fun to watch her go through everything, at the end she said " I can never repay you!"
Silly, we don't expect anything back! We loaded up the entire cargo area of her mini van - folding down the third row of seats. All of it was clearance, coupons, thrift store 50% off day,
Amazon deals with stacked codes/ GC's earned from Swag Bucks. She won't need to buy any diapers for the first 6 months or more.

Wish I had known how to do the coupon deals when the boys were little!
Other than that.. I've been just going along with the usual day to day stuff. Coupon deals, dialysis, doctor appts for hubby, dealing with my fibro stuff, massage once a week (really really helps!), watching my nephew occasionally (he started in home ABA therapy, so not as much babysitting now), dealing with the almost 18 year old (argh!) and generally feeling not too bad.
We're in a good place right now, KWIM? Going with the flow of life, learning to let go, relax. Hubby and I have had just a wonderful time hanging out together, reconnecting - getting ready for the next phase of our life (adult children and eventually empty nest). We don't have much, but I don't feel poor and I'm just happy.
