Yesh, constant phone calls yesterday and the day before.. scheduling dh for various appointments and his dialysis social worker checking in on how the battle with the county was going.
We didn't know the county stopped his medical as of December 1st, the worker never sent anything to say it was stopped or why. (which I think is a violation of his rights?) We didn't even know until last month when he tried to get glasses and the lady at Pearl Vision said it was inactive.. uhh what?

We both left messages with the worker to "fix" it, she never called us back, never sent a notice.

Unknown to us, his dialysis worker
also had been calling the worker and the worker's
supervisor.. and she too was not getting a response.

This week the dialysis worker chatted with dh, did some serious arguing with our clueless ditzy worker and went to another case worker (who was snippy and rude to her) to get things started again. Except this time he is under a different program and now has to pay a premium, uhhh earning less money this year but now he has to pay?

How does that work?
Kidney Foundation will help out and pay the premium, but it will take awhile to get approval. We have to pay for the first 4 months (retro to December) so it doesn't get cancelled for "failure to pay" . Gee, you are going to screw him over for YOUR mistake? Thanks Ramsey county, you're just swell.
Never had problems with his medical in other counties. If we moved just 4 blocks up we would be in a different county, alas not to be, we would be in a different school district too .. a crappy one! We deal with this headache every 6 months, the boys get an awesome education. Good trade off I guess.
His other appointments are for physical therapy, his back still hurts from his fall. Our lovely doc is a take action style, other docs hand you more pain meds.. she likes to figure out other ways to fix the problem that is causing the pain.

Massage, TENS unit, ultrasound, SI joint belt and exercise. Hopefully strengthen his "core" and walk without waddling because his hips hurt, which puts stress on his back and causes pain, and less stress on the knees and .. you get the picture.
His other odd new thing, he has cysts that grow on his back. They look like blackheads, raise to the surface and eww pop. Well there is one that didn't come to the surface, it tunneled under an old surgical scar. His doc poked at it, puzzled over it. She exclaimed "what the heck is that?" you can tell she was working thru the possibilities: "it's not inflamed (immuno comprised but not enough to NOT have inflammatory response) so it's not a boil. It could be a lipoma (fatty tumor) but it doesn't move like one. What the heck is it?"

So, off to a general surgeon to cut it out. Ewwwww!
And one appt call for me to go get my bosoms squished.
Too many appointments!
