Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Howdy Hyenas!

Sarah, That is cool about your sister! :bride: When is she getting married?

They are planning for Spring of 2012. So I little more than a year away.

My sisters boy friend works in the entertainment industy (right now he's some kind of Executive Assistant on Glee) so they know alot of high up people and I guess one of their friend's already offered up their house in Pacific Palasades as a place to hold the wedding (they have held alot of weddings there) and they know someone who will DJ for them.

At first my mom was saying she didn't know how she was going to pay for a wedding and maybe they should just go to Las Veags and elope but now she said "what's left for me to do, I want to help with something." :sad1: :rotfl:

Wedding stuff is fun! Have fun planning the shower, bachelorette and everything. Location sounds beautiful and already a DJ.. that was quick! I hope they keep that up and the wedding planning will be wonderful and less headaches!

Melody, busy lady! Hope your visit with your sis goes well, safe travels.

Pix, yep Valentine's is very much "just another day" for me and the hubbs. Though he surprised me when I got back from my massage today. Walked in and there was a bouquet of roses, candy bar, card and a jewelry box on the table. He had pulled petals off, strewn them across the table and over the jewelry box. He bought me a set of three pearl bracelets: silvery gray, pale pink, and a mix of plain pearls, pale pink and gray. We have an ongoing theme n jewelry, in the past he bought me gold jewelry and noticed I never wore it. So every few years he buys me pearls because he knows I will wear them!. :goodvibes

We enrolled for LA Fitness membership, paid in full for the year and they don't have our credit card or bank info so when the year is up we can walk and not be hassled. Read too many horror stories that you need to send letters to corporate in order to stop them from continuing to take $ from your bank account. The sales guy was pushy, almost sleazy used car salesman style.. but we were firm and said "this is the way or we go somewhere else".

Now that we are finally done taking turns being sick. I plan to make use of the E-Mealz, week behind but it's matching nicely with my store ads this week (I shop on Wednesdays). Eloy and I looked it over and scrapped the things that didn't make sense for us (really 2 bags of frozen vegies per meal? fresh shrimp? :lmao: Wish we did but no, not at my ghetto-ized Wedensday shopping store)
And I'm skipping a whole boatload of junky stuff for doubling coupons. My boys don't need frozen pizza, more cereal, or snack crackers - even if they are almost free! Which brings me down to just two orders for doubles and more time in the produce dept. :thumbsup2

My massage is heavenly wonderful now that I go weekly. It's keeping my pain level low and allowing me more flexibility. Few spots still hurt but not nearly as much. That first massage was almost torture but I had a feeling over time it would beneficial.. so glad I kept going! :cloud9:

Weather - warm this week!
Diet changes - lined up and ready to go
Exercise - ready to go, swimming three times a week is the plan.
Finances - peachy! Got our state return, Federal next week. Even without that boost, budget is in check and no freaking out. Poor, but not that soul sucking poverty poor. :upsidedow

Life is good and getting better everyday.

:beach:

Hi Mel! :hug::hug:

How are you? You are a powerhouse with all the work you are doing for the ladies trip! That's really cool! :)

I'm doing good. I have been a bit busy. I now have 2 hip hop classes every week and I've been working out at the gym, hanging with friends and family. I'm trying not to think about Valentine's Day but it doesn't bother me as much anymore. I followed some suggestions given to me and I made al ist of of all the positive things that I have accomplished and of the positive things that are in my life. I was also told that Valentine's Day is a time for flower shops and candy shops to earn more money and for people to splurge and empty their wallets. I was told that rocky relationships are the ones that usually have this false "hope" that everything will be better on this day and that it will somehow make the relationship better. It leads to one having high expectations, which leads to disappointment. I was told that healthy relationships don't care or put a lot of emphasis on this day.

Sorry, not trying to make it sound like I am putting down this day but am just sharing what I was informed. It did help though. :)

I'm glad I have hip hop tonight. When I am in class I just zone out and block out and don't think of other things. It's also fun for me and is a great activity to do.

Plus my co-workers put treats on my desk and I keep staring at it but am hesititant to eat it. If I end up caving and eating them, then the hip hop class will help me to feel less guilty!! :teeth:

My DH & I don't do the candy/flowers /cards/going out thing on Valentine's day for exactly the reason you describe. I would rather get flowers on a random Monday anyway. If this is supposed to be a love holiday we figure it should be about doing things that show it. Like yesterday he let me sleep in and he got our son ready for school and did the dishes and I shoveled the snow shows you appreciate what the other one normally does.

Bernice- that's really cool and yay for the gifts and massage :) That's really sweet about the pearls :)

I feel like I have hurdled over some uncomfortable times so far- just holidays in general. It was tough because it was the first time without the ex: my b-day, thanksgiving, christmas, valentine's day, etc. I feel that if I can get through it then I will be okay and I am hoping that from here on out, it will get easier.

The other day I got a mani/pedi and I was talking with the girl working on my nails. She looked like a teenager and was so nice. We ended up chatting and she asked me questions and it ended up with me telling her a bit about my ex. She said that she has an aunt who is married to an abusive husband, who beats her and gives her black eyes and is controllind and manipulative. She said that her aunt refuses to leave this man and she is afraid to. They also have a child together and her aunt cannot leave this man. She said that in a way, she can understand what I went through and she said: "You have to know, it takes a LOT of courage to do what you did! You left him and it's not easy and you were with him for so many years. The good thing is that you got rid of him and he is going to treat the person he is with the same way!"

When I was about to leave, she gave me a hug and told me that I have a lot of courage.

I feel really blessed that I have good friends and family who have been supportive of me. That really helped me to get through a lot of the holidays and rough moments. :cloud9:

Happy Belated Valentine's Day ladies! Hope everybody had a great day. We just exchanged cards this year and DD got everybody some candy. Pretty low key this year.

So we were going to go camping this weekend, but there is snow forecast!:rotfl2: Not likely that we want to pull the trailer over the coast range in snow to camp at the beach. My inlaws live at the beach, north of where our beach lot is at. So we are thinking of going to visit them for the weekend. We have four wheel drive, just don't really want to pull a trailer in the snow. It's not supposed to be a blizzard or anything, but maybe an inch or two over the coast range.

I started Zumba last week. I really suck at it, but what the heck, at least I'm going twice a week.:thumbsup2

Just a quick hello. I've been sick since Saturday and it's only getting worse. I'm just going to get a few things done here at work and then go to the urgent care. My throat feels like it's on fire. :sad1:

Alison- that's cool that you are taking Zumba :) I love my hip hop class (the new one). It's really fun and I love the steps we learned to Pretty Boy Swag. :)

My old hip hop class changed instructors. We had class this week and one more next week. The next session starts up in March. We had this new teacher for 2 sessions. The first session she was so-so but then this week she was just mean. :headache: If at any time one of of us messed up, she would stop the class and make us start over. She was really strict and kept trying to get us to dance like her. It was terrible and if you are forced to dance perfectly, it no longer becomes fun. The other classmates were griping how this wasn't fun anymore. When she taught us one move, the teens and kids in the class got excited and said: "Oooh, that reminds us of a move that our old teacher taught us, except she had us nod our head and move our arms like this!" and they showed her. Then they asked: "Can we do that?" and she said: "No, not in my class" or she said: "Well we aren't doing that today." She was just *witchy* it seemed and she totally took the fun out of everything.

On a positive note: we have one session left but she said she is going out of town and won't be here. The bad part is that she said she doesn't know who will teach next week's class! WTH?? I'm just sick of irresponsible people when it comes to this class! We have no idea who is teaching us next week.

Oi vay! :headache:

Bernice and Sarah Moto- I hope you both feel better!! :grouphug:

aww, you too!? That sucks.
Mine started as a sore throat but that has gone away. Now it's just the sinus crap.

And yes I use the Neil Med Sinus Rinse.. but I must have some weird anatomy, some of the fluid gets trapped in my upper sinuses and dribbles out HOURS later if I look down. Now when I use it I have to tip my head forward, side, side, wiggle and wait for the drip drip drip. Gave myself a headache and triggered my vertigo.. a little stuffiness is preferred.

It's been lovely warm this week, melting the snow and ice off the sidewalks. Causing run off INTO our ceiling fan.. hmm, well that's not suppose to happen! Eloy noticed it in time to turn off the fan (it was whipping droplets everywhere) and put out a bucket. Filled an ice cream pail in just 4 hours. Evening came and it stopped.. ice again most likely. Thursday is to be almost 50.. so we will see if it dribbles again. :sad2: The people downstairs had a soaked bedroom, run off from the building and parking lot pooled around a snow/ice pile and found it's way inside. Yuck, what a mess! Ahh the joys of an almost spring in MN!

That's crazy to have a teacher like that! It's not like the people in the class are going to become professional dancers. Doesn't she realize that people are doing this for fun & for exercise?

My Zumba teacher is very nice. She's 50ish and teaches yoga also. We have some younger people in their 20's in the class, but half of the class or more is above 40. So she doesn't get too wild with us!:lmao:

Most new exercise classes make you feel out of shape at first, not Zumba. But I do feel uncoordinated and clunky. This is my 3rd class though and I get better every time. So as long as I see a forward improvement, that's good. Plus, there are plenty of other people in the class that suck just as much as I do, so I'm not alone! It's fun to have a class where you can suck at what you're doing, yet still have a lot of fun.:thumbsup2

B. I always tip my head to the left for a few seconds and then again to the right immediately after I finish rinsing. That seems to empty it out of my sinuses. I think the instructions said to do that. If I don't and I wait a while then I get the same problem you do...drip...drip...drip...and it's not my ceiling!lol.

That's crazy about your ceiling fan! I think I would let the manager know, it's not a good idea to mix water & electricity!:scared1::laughing:

The Doc says I have Bronchitis. She gave me an antibiotic and told me to take Tylenol and gargle with warm salt water. I've been using the Neil Med Sinus Rinse every other day anyways but it does help me breath better.

I do the tip , tip thing.. but it takes more than a few seconds to wiggle it all out. My dh says I have a big head.. must be why the fluid gets lost up there.

We called the emergency line right away, the maintenance guy said it was beyond his abilities but put in a call to the owner. The owner called and yammered on and on about ice and the temp blah blah blah .. basically saying " deal with it"
why? because he's cheap.

He was to have the roofer out to check, but I didn't hear anyone up there or they came while we were away. No one came and looked at the damage. There were quite a few wet spots on the ceiling. :headache:

TGIF! I'm finally starting to feel a little better. I left work early yesterday and came home and went to bed.

We are leaving for San Diego tomorrow morning and staying through Monday. We are going to the Supercross on Saturday night and Sea World on Sunday.

I'm glad I can breath better because we always stop at this little hole in the wall mexican food place on the way to San Diego. They have the best Carne Asada burritos ever. :) And i'm glad I'll feel like eating and be able to taste it. :rotfl:

Just a quick update.

Left town unexpectedly last Monday, as they thought my sister would not make it through the week. Well, she seemed to get a bit better, than took a turn for the worse again. I came home last night, to get some stuff done, then I will probably go back up north again this weekend. After that....who knows? It's so hard to tell how long she will hang on. It's the pits.

Thanks for listening.

Wish I could be there to give you a big hug. Safe travels, our prayers are with you and your family right now.
