Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Im good Melody:hug:and Im so glad you love that apricot jam chicken...Im actually going to make that in a couple of days:goodvibes havent made it in awhile...hey are you able to find the russian dressing? I cant find it anywhere so Im having to sub it for catalina but eh whatever...it works....

nice Melody Im glad you got 2 new grand kids...I have none and there are no prospects either:sad2: Tiff has one more semester and shes out of here...She really wants to get into Berkeley but 2nd choice is Long Beach so she has been working her tail off to get that done...I have Tristan on the regular now and am getting paid to watch him because Amanda went back to work full time and Tristan is now in preschool and absolutely loves it...hes so smart and hes got really good social skills so it works for him even though hes 3...getting ready to celebrate his bday in a couple of weeks...I cant believe hes turning 4 already:headache:anyways thats about it for me:goodvibes
I've never used the dressing, because when you originally gave it to me, you forgot to put that ingredient in. :rolleyes1 So for all this time, we do without, and it's still really good!!! :thumbsup2

I am terrible at recipes. I usually just throw some stuff in some pans.. and VOILA!! Dinner. My kids, and hubby, LOVE the corn flakes fried chicken though. I do all breast meat, make nuggets.. and season the crap out of the chicken. YUM! Quick, and easy. Maybe some potato salad.. German of course! and regular salad. Yum. Dinner!

I hate dinner time. Its easy if I have the crock pot going, because I dont have to be in the kitchen forever. But lately, whenever I step in the kitchen it is some sort of signal for all crap to break loose and I have six people whining about this and that. Makes my head hurt. I would just rather let them starve! :rotfl2:

Julie managed to get some sort of Virus on her computer.. So my husband has been working on fixing it today. I made the girls gloves for halloween.. They came out cute. Right now Julie is working on the tutu part of her skirt. I am doing the rest. I figure if I am doing the hard work, she can tie some strips of tulle to a ribbon. :lmao:

I ordered my new sewing machine!! I cant wait to get it.

http://www.amazon.com/Singer-Futura-CE-250-Sewing-Embroidery/dp/B000UXT38W

Isnt she purty??? I ordered it from Joanne Fabric, so I get lessons on how to use it. :cool1: Obviously I know how to sew, but I dont know anything about how to use the embroidery side of it. I should have it next week or the week after.:love:

Morning gals. Sounds like everyone had a fairly productive weekend.

We had our first pretty decent storm of the fall and we lost a few more tree limbs but not as bad as the first one. My dad has managed to cut most of it up but the big part of it is still here. And now we have a bunch of smaller ones lol. But we braved to monsoon and went out and saw hereafter yesterday. I really like stuff about the supernatural and sci fi in general and it looked really good in the previews plus I really like matt damon but it was REALLY slow and not as good as I thought it would be. So that was a bit dissapointing but it was nice to get out even if the weather was awful. We also tried a new pizza place that was next to the theater and it to was just ok.

Anyway then we just came home and watched Amazing Race and Undercover Boss and enjoyed the storm from inside where it was nice and cozy! :)

Now it is clear but still cool and they are predicting more rain next weekend. The girls have an event at our community center that I already paid for on Friday night and part of it was outdoors but I am hoping they can just move that part inside and then on Saturday we are hoping to go do a haunted tour in downtown and most of it is indoors as well so hopefully the weather won't hamper that since most of the stuff we wanted to do for halloween has gotten rained out and I am REALLY hoping it doesn't ruin the kids trick or treating! It orig said no rain for sunday and now it is showing some so I am hoping it doesn't mess that up!!

Shelby has her class field trip to Coloma on Wed so she is excited about that. I am driving again so it should be fun. Looking forward to that! Otherwise just getting anxious for our trip!

Will be glad when it gets close enough that I can actually pack. It has been pretty consistent weather wise but I still want to wait till the 10 is out to make sure. When we went in 08 it was pretty chilly so I don't want to bring the wrong clothes! As of now it is still in the 80's so at this point it is shorts but need to make sure!

Anyway hope you are all well and have a good day!

Hiya Ladies! Was going to multi quote and comment...but just don't want to deal with the dial up nightmare.

Hope everyone had a Wonderful Saturday. DD & I went over to Portland shopping in "the Hood". I got a belly dancing skirt sarong.:lmao: Now that might not sound so strange, except I have no idea how to belly dance. I was recording exercise shows from the Fit channel and they have a show called Shimmy. I teaches you how to belly dance...so I had my first belly dancing lesson tonite...I suck at it, but it's very relaxing and fun. My skirt/sarong whatever that thing is is hot pink with lots of jingly prety silverycoins and beads. It sounds awesome.:thumbsup2

Now that I've been given the ok from the physical therapist, it's time to start exercising.:thumbsup2

Your skirt sounds just like the one I orderd for Zumba. Same color and everything. :rotfl: It just came in the mail so I will get to try it out in class tonight. I love the way the coins sound.

Does it look like this?

I ran a 5K (3.1 miles) on Saturday morning. It was in a little mountain town called Wrightwood. I didn't win the race or the costume contest but I still had fun. :thumbsup2 It was SO cold my hands were going numb.

There were 19 people in my age group (female 20-29) and I placed 10th with a time of 36 minutes 33 seconds. I was not used to running in the cold or that high of altitude. I think 99% of the people there live in Wrightwood.

Pretty skirt! Fun outfit for the 5K.. I couldn't handle even walking very fast if at a higher altitude. I got lightheaded and out of breath each time we drove through Denver, I am not meant to live in the mountains. :upsidedow

Pretty cool sewing/emboidery machine Staley! Mixed reviews but when you see a bunch people rate it very high, a bunch rate it poor and no in-betweens, you know it's because the haters are doing something wrong. ;) You already know how to sew, that's half the battle!

I wish I knew how to sew, it would be fun to make some baby clothes and blankets for SIL. I cherished the blankets my mom made for the boys, the ones you buy are too small for swaddling and the current trend of polyester everything makes my skin crawl to think of using on a newborn. Besides, wouldn't the poor thing roast in the summer? :confused3

My mom used lightweight cotton flannel, hemmed all the raw edges. They were HUGE, big enough to swaddle my monster babies and use as a light blanket as toddlers. The boys played with those blankets for years after, they made a sportingly good cape, bandit mask, or for tying your baby brother to a chair to keep him away from your toys! . :rotfl: :rotfl2:
She also made me those weird kimono gowns with the little fabric ties on the front.. ummm a little too old fashioned now.

I have medical! :woohoo:
I have a letter that says I will get food benefits "right away"! :woohoo:

But ahhh it doesn't say how .... as in how, when, where to get the card to use the benefits? :confused3

Case worker said she would call today.. or at least that's what E thought she said.
It was a trifle confusing because she mentioned something about "quiet time" on Tuesdays and babbled on about Wednesday and some other intake person is to call and she never had anyone that didn't have a card yet so even she didn't know how it worked and blah blah blah.

And well, it was info overload for E to keep track. :faint:

Now think if this was someone with special needs, learning disabled, mental health issues, or limited English. If it's hard for us to figure out, can you imagine how that person would feel? :guilty:

oh yes, the teacher that took E's spot..you know the one that walked out on the students and left? He worked for a few more weeks and POOF quit.
The asst principal already put out feelers to see if E wanted it, he laughed and said "beeeeeeeeeep NO".

They had a sub sign up for the week, he worked one day ... and promptly cancelled for the rest of the week. :scared1:

Yes folks it is THAT bad this year, the current principal is nitpicking over break times and number of copies made per week. While veteran teachers are falling apart and thinking they can't do it any more.

Even his best buddy (young, has seemingly unlimited energy, works multiple jobs and does volunteer work) looks frazzled and tired. It's awful.

He can do the job, but at what cost to his health and sanity?
It's not worth it.

That's fantastic time. At the gym I use the cross trainer set for weight loss. In 25 minutes is says I "ran" anywhere from 2 to 2.5 miles. I can't stand running, my hats off to those who can, do, and love it. I can swim and dance for hours, but running always kicks my butt. I had a problem with it while I was in the Marines, they always gave me flack about it.

I got my new sewing machine today!!! :cool1: WOOOHOOO!!! I got it all threaded up... and I got a red, beeping ERROR!:lmao: Figures. I rethreaded it, and it was fine. I was laughing my booty off. I havent even opened up the embroidery side of it yet. I dont know where to start. Its so AWESOME. Its quiet.. and has some cool stitches... Of course Once I got it all set up, I had nothing to sew. Ill have to cut some fabric tomorrow... I have TONS of that!

B congrats on the bennies. Here's hoping that the rest fall into place now!!

Sara congrats on the run. Cute outfit!!

Megan yay on the sewing machine!! Have fun with it!!

Today I am off with Shelby to Coloma for her field trip. I did the same one last year with Katy so I know pretty much what to expect. THIS time I WON'T be doing the hike LOL. Bout killed me last time LOL. Otherwise it is a fun day as long as the weather is good. We went in April last year but other than being a bit chilly it is supposed to be a pretty nice day. For those not from CA Coloma is where Sutter's Mill is the site where John Sutter discovered gold and what set off the Gold Rush so it is pretty historic and it is really a pretty area up there.

Anyway then tonight we are hopefully carving our pumpkins. We can't usually do it too early cuz it is usually too warm and they actually rot if you do it too early. Although this year it hasn't been as hot so they might have been ok but I don't like to take a chance. This is the only night we can do it too since tomorrow is soccer and Friday the girls have a thing at our community center and Sat we are hopefully going to that haunted house thing.

Anyway hope everyone has a good day!

really?I didnt put that in there? oh man sorry:rolleyes1...well yeah your supposed to put in like half cup of russian dressing but I cant find it anymore so Im gonna use Catalina...i hope it turns out ok...Im actually making it tonight:goodvibes

You're talking about your trip to Orlando? I can help you with that...my friend lives in Orlando..monday she actually mentioned that the temps had gotten back up in the 90's..she lives in Winter Park which is 10 minutes from wdw...so I can ask her when its close time for you to start packing what the forecast is set for if you want:goodvibes

haha that is the exact skirt that Ileah, Tristan's sister has as one of her dance recital costumes...shes been wearing it around the house so we all know when Leahs coming down the hall :lmao:

I have medical! :woohoo:

Bernice I would so be going down there if I was you...I would think you have to go in to pick up your card and have it activated right there and they fill it on the spot!!...you should call them and bug the crap out of them...js!

I got my new sewing machine today!!! :cool1: WOOOHOOO!!!

yay:yay::dance3::banana:

man this day stinks and its not even 8am yet...Ive been up for 2 hours after waking up every 2 hours on the clock all night long...I woke up to having a stuffy nose and that feeling you get that your throat is going to be sore...I got up and took an airborne losenge that you put with water and drink and Ive been drinking water but Im tired and I feel like caca...I should have known it was coming because Amanda has been off work all week and yesterday I had to take Tristan to the dr because he hasnt been feeling well and he has an ear infection so its inevitable...Im just afraid its going to mess up my weekend and I wont be able to go with Tristan to go trick or treating:sad2::sad1:I think im just gonna go back to bed and watch tv and try to go back to sleep for awhile...hope you guys have a way better day:goodvibes

Awesome! See think how frustrated you would be if Amazon didn't have reviews ;)

Anyway then tonight we are hopefully carving our pumpkins. We can't usually do it too early cuz it is usually too warm and they actually rot if you do it too early.

And here we would worry if it was too cold! Or if it would blow away  we had 50 mph winds with rain all day and night yesterday. Our version of Pooh's blustery day. Had to pull the heavy lobby doors to close them, could hear the bathroom vent flapping so hard it sounded like gun shots, I was convinced that the siding was going to tear loose because I could hear it shifting back and forth.

Today it's not as bad, but freakishly COLD. Noticed a few random flurries of snow mixed with the rain. Would not be surprised if we got more snow than rain as the temps drop at night. I don't think our apt is getting heat, which is kind of okay as third floor we get heat from the lower floors. But in the evening E gets chilly in the bedroom while dialyzing. Brrrrrrrrrrrr.
I will have the caretaker bleed the lines for us when he gets home from work.

Must be going around, I have a raging sore throat and feel just blaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh. But I just can't make myself take a nap during the day, even on my worst days.. I just can't!
My sis said "drink caffeine like everyone else", umm yeah but that's actually not good for you.

Hope you feel better soon.

Question for you ..
If your car had electrical issues and died on a busy street (with a business parking lot within 200 feet of your dead vehicle) , would you
A. Attempt to push the car into the parking lot and ask a friend to jump your car in the safety of the lot
or
B. Would you have your friend turn their car against traffic and jump the car in the middle of the street. Wait for 20 minutes to recharge you car before leaving the scene. Blocking one lane of traffic. (on a wet/freezing rain slippery road)

what would be the safest course of action?
what would be the SMARTEST course of action?

Dim light bulbs one and two chose option B, causing several near miss collisions as people quickly try to change lanes after being at the stoplight. Plus turning traffic.

:sad2: Idiots!

B congrats on the bennies. Here's hoping that the rest fall into place now!!

Sara congrats on the run. Cute outfit!!

We arent doing pumpkins this year.. We had plans to hit the pumpkin patch, and of course it has poured every weekend. Oh well.

Lynn and B.. I hope you two feel better soon.. I HATE being sick.

Morning and Happy Thursday!

Lynn thanks for thinking of me and that would be great if you could talk to your friend. It is seeming like it is going to stay warm but any info you could get would be super helpful. It is SO different than what we experienced 2 years ago. It was downright cold when we went at thanksgiving in 08 and when we went in 05 it was during Hurricane Wilma LOL. So it will be "sortof" nice to have it be warm as long as it isn't TOO hot. When we went in 02 it was in May and it was sweltering so don't want that either LOL.

Sorry you aren't feeling well and will be thinking good thoughts that you are able to go trick or treating with your grandson (it is your grandson right? ;) )

And B we didn't end up doing our pumpkins last night after all. I was exhausted from the field trip and dh worked in the bay area again so got home late so we didn't do it. It is supposed to rain tonight so if they cancel soccer we may do them tonight. We shall see. Otherwise we may do them after the game on Saturday.

The field trip was a lot of fun and I let one of the other moms take the kids on the hike this time and one of the moms that went last year with me and knew better LOL and I went down by the river and hung out till they got back. The weather was perfect and it was a nice relaxing day.

By the time we got back though the clouds came in and it is supposed to rain like I said so we shall see. And then it is going to rain tomorrow but hopefully the girls will still have fun at their event and then Shane and I will prob go grab dinner while they are at their event. I hope they have fun. They get to go on a pumpkin hunt and get to play games and watch a movie and get goodie bags so it should be fun. Then we are supposed to go to a haunted house thing downtown on Sat night so that should be fun. I hope it all works out and also that our game doesn't get rained out on Saturday.

Anyway today I have more chores to do and then tomorrow is work.

Have a good day all.
