hey megan...yeah tiff has designed most all of her converse since like 10th grade...she has had some amazing pairs of shoes and NOBODY will have a pair like them at her school hahahaha:thumbsup2...anyways lovin the shoes...I couldnt pull them suckers off but hey more power to ya:woohoo:

Howdy gals. Nice to meet you Lynn. Actually I have seen you round the boards and I believe you went on the first Diva trip. I missed you by a year as mom and I went in 09 and 10. We won't be making the one this year cuz we bought my girls AP's and we want to get as many trips out of them as possible and so we took them this past June and dh and I are taking them in December and we wanted to get ONE last trip in before their passes expire next June and we couldn't swing the diva trip AND a trip in June and I can't pull them out of school again since we are going to disney WORLD next month soooo that solves that. But we are hoping to go back again in 12. I am really going to miss all the gals as we had a great time the last two years.

And yes I live "near" sac but not in sac. I live in one of the surrounding towns.

Megan those shoes are hilarious. I say go for it. What the heck. Of course just LOOKING at those heels makes my feet hurt but why not! I of course don't wear ANY kind of heels anymore. I am a croc or uggs person now. Or barefoot LOL. The more comfortable the better. ;)

We finally got our info from Disney travel about our trip next month. We have never gone through them before and basically we just got our luggage tags for ME and then a booklet that explains what we are getting so I am assuming we will get the rest when we get there ie the tickets/dinning stuff. And ironically I got my hotel stuff from getaway today also today for the hojo for dec. It also happens to be the 60 day mark so I called and was able to get our WOC meal. Had NO problems booking even though I was a little worried being Christmas week but either people aren't realizing they can call this far out or don't care or whatever. But I am just glad we got it. That was the one thing we def wanted to do. We wanted a do-over since our WOC deal in June was bad and plus dh has never seen it. We are going to do a few other meals at CC and the bbq but I am not worried about those booking up so I am going to wait till AFTER the fact when all of the dates have gone past and then call on wed to book the rest. Then we will pretty much be set on dec. Then I just have to hope the weather cooperates! :)

Anywho back from work and just waiting to go pick up the girls from school and then it is OFF to piano! Have a great day everyone!

hey Kelmac, yeah your right I did go during the time the girls went on the 1st trip and although I did go on a couple of the meals/excursions, I also came because several of the girls from this board were there and also my friend Andrea was going to be there so it worked out well:thumbsup2 I live in Merced and Im pretty sure you know where that is...do you take the 5 all the way down there? or do you go a different route?

Oh yeah I know where merced is!! :) Actually we almost ALWAYS fly BUT since we are going to DW just the month before and since this was kind of a last minute trip (Dec) we are driving again. My mom likes to travel a lot and I actually take quite a few trips with her and/or my girls and she ends up paying for a lot of them because she wants us to go. Long story. But anyway this Dec trip was to be a "budget" trip and so we are staying in the Hojo, driving down etc. The only thing we are really splurging on is a few of the meals. But to answer your question we actually usually take 99. We took 5 a few times in the past when we used to drive all the time but it seems like there just isn't as much stuff on 5, restaurants, gas stations and such, plus the scenery as more boring, you know more farms and such. So the last few times we drove we took 99 and preferred it.

So we will most likely go that route again.

Not saying we will never drive again because it IS much cheaper but if we can get a good deal on airfare we much prefer to fly and we have really gotten spoiled being able to just hop on a plane and be there in an hour. We haven't driven since I think 05 or 06. :)

It's going to be an adventure though. We have one of those travel dvd players and I always go to walmart and buy some old movies in the 5 dollar bin and we bring lots of snacks and pillows and we make it fun so we are excited. Plus I can't WAIT to see it at the holidays again. We were there at halloween in 07 and last year but haven't been at Christmas I think since 06!

I always drive and have gone every year for I dont know how long in Oct AND Dec. I love it during the holidays....I take the 99 too but when I get to LA I veer off on the 210 E fwy which is the pasadena fwy and take it about 35 min or so and then take the 57 S all the way in to Anaheim...I HATE driving the 5 from LA to Anaheim...takes forever and alot of the time its back to back traffic...the way I take it shaves off about 10 min only but theres no stop and go traffic AND once you get on the 57 there is a great carpool lane and even if theres tons of backed up traffic, we sail right through it:cool1:...I have stayed at HOJO since sheesh 2006? 2007? cant remember but I love it there...alot of them know me and make sure I get a good room and even if I have the money to splurge I want to be able to use it at the park..since they upgraded the rooms they are just as nice as most of the hotels but I love how close they are..The only reason I have now for going back to DLH is to try the new renovated rooms in the dreams tower...but as I hear it, alot of people dont get put in there even if they show up early in the am to get first choice:confused3 but no matter where you stay hey its DL right? :thumbsup2

Hey Lynn!
Time has flown! Wow 24, hope she had a great day!

I can't believe how much the kidlets have grown and I'm glad that you get a bit of $ to watch them.. every penny helps right?! ::yes::

Giant packet of our entire financial life is on the way to be processed.. cross fingers, make a wish and a hopeful prayer. I can't see how they can argue and continue to take everything when we have nothing! The only assets we own are .. well... you know.... the kind that are attached to my body. :lmao::lmao::rotfl2: And it's not like those are worth all that much, well except to dh of course

Sis dropped by to fax some papers, chatted about the memorial/ bonfire for my cousin. Lots of family were there that we rarely see.. until the next funeral.:guilty: Including a part of my uncle's family that were NOT invited  But I guess everyone was civil even though they refused to talk to them.

Eloy and I talked about family disagreements, he thinks his mom is "done" with him. Which surprised me considering it wasn't that big of a deal (the whole drama of SIL being told by her mom that she shouldn't come visit us.. Eloy got pissed and left a message asking why.. MIL called back and said she won't visit, afraid he would tell his sis anything she would say).

He said when he talked with her that she was "flat".. that angry unemotional detached feel.

It's depressing, he's tried so many times to encourage her to be part of his life.. things go well for awhile, then he innocently says something that she considers "wrong" and POOF! She won't talk to him.:sad1:

He shrugs and says he doesn't care if he ever hears from her again.

:guilty: Sometimes I want to shake some sense into MIL and show her how much he does care.. even if he won't admit it. I could never treat my boys like that, chances are that I might not like everything they do as adults.. but they are MY boys. A part of me that I will always love. I can be disappointed, worried, angry.. but I would still want to be part of their life. No strings.. no " I love you, but..."
Love means accepting a person just as they are.

Morning and happy Tuesday!

Lynn yeah we are anxious to try the Hojo. For years we always stayed at the hotels on Harbor. Mom has a bad knee so the closer the better for her. In fact the divas always stay at Hojo but even THAT was too far for her and so the first trip we stayed at the DI. We have stayed there several times and while it is not the hilton it is fine for us. We don't need anything spectacular just clean and decent and it suits us just fine. We have also stayed at the fairfield Inn and the Ramada as well as a few others. For us the closer the better and they all are pretty much the same. As long as they are clean and roomy enough for us as we usually have 5 or more then we are good. Heck we have even stayed at the Del Sol and while it was "ok" I am not fond of that one and won't stay there again. We just got REALLY spoiled our last few trips because we got a GREAT deal at the DLH last Oct so we splurged and stayed there and while the room itself was not that hot we enjoyed the pool and the onsite restaurants. Then for the ladies trip this past march mom and I stayed at PP and really enjoyed it and then this past June we took the girls and also got a great discounted rate at the GC. So we really got spoiled staying on property but our streak is now over as all the discounts have ended for the time and there are NONE to be found esp Christmas week. SOOO it is back across the street we go. We orig were booked at DI again but thought for a time we were going to have to cancel and then when I tried to re-book the DI was all booked so I am now at HOJO. So I am actually really looking forward to trying it out. I didn't book direct as I doubt there were any ET rate rooms that week so I got ours through Getaway today. I hope I get a decent room! Like I said this is a trip we haven't done in a LONG time so it will be an experience but fun! :)

B that is really sad what is going on with your family. We have had stuff like that go on too and I find it so sad when you have family feuds. Esp when my uncle died so suddenly this past May it brought a lot of people together but there was some bad blood that I don't think even THAT can fix. Truly sad. But I have always said that we have to make sure that our OWN little family is "good" and as much as I would like to have things be "good" with the extended family I can't control that and I just have to make sure my own family unit is good.

I think I mentioned we got all our stuff for our trips so we are excited about that. Now it is just a waiting game. I have to make a few more ADRS tomorrow but otherwise we are set. We have 3 weeks from Thurs till we leave for Florida and I am SO ready!!

We are actually getting a bunch of rain this weekend and I am ready for it but bummed cuz it may affect our outings but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Anyway that's bout it for me.

Have a great day everyone!

Yeah for Justin!!!:banana::banana::banana:

Just make sure his job earnings don't affect your SS. You don't need another headache in that area.:sad2:

B. That ad was too funny!:rotfl:

Megan - yes teenagers totally freak out about stuff like that. But on the other hand, they seem to think it acceptable that you have to sit and watch them play kissey face on the sofa.:confused3:lmao:

Love the shoes...they'll look awesome with Mom Jeans!:rotfl: I found some shoe pants that Wil & Jada Smith's daughter was wearing in a magazine the other day. They look like pink Converse's, but the pants are attached and the laces go clear up the front of the pant legs. I know I would look horrible in them, but I still want them just because they make me smile.:):):)

LYNN!!!!! Yes, I will get you Alex's email. But just so you know, you could probably send her a PM on here. She said she occasionally lurkes on the DIS.

Kelly Girl - enjoy the rain. We are 68 and sunny today. We had a horrible, cold rainy September. But October has been quite lovely upper 60's and lower 70's and sunshine for the most part.

Here's a link to Willow Smith wearing the Pink Converse shoe pants. Seriously, I want a pair!!!! These would be so cool to wear to breast cancer events.:thumbsup2

http://soulfulbeauty.com/article.php?n=541

Yes, I am aware that I would look ridiculous in them. But I really don't care.:lmao:

uh ummm interesting and uhh unique! Yeah.. :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

I think they would be cute on someone with super skinny legs with a fufu poofy mini skirt. Reminds me of some of the things the Japanese young tourists wear at DL.

They also remind me of mukluks on steroids..

but hey more power to ya if you can wear them. :thumbsup2

Justin's earnings (or mine if I were working) don't affect SS for now.. it might when he's 18 in April but not yet graduated. The beneficiary check comes in his name only at the age of 18. Not that we are even getting the boys benefits since Eloy's is held up with the repayment issue. That will be another set of forms once they decide the fate of Eloy's benefits. I wish they would just process the boys and just take those benefits for the repayment.

If the repayment is not waived or reduced on the boys portion.. they could, in the future, be responsible to pay it back as an adult if/when they file for their own benefits.. screwy huh?

Hi everyone!

It storming here. Well not really storming cuz it's just sprinkling but the thunder is so load it's shaking my office.

I hope it's not too bad tonight becasue I have to pick up DBF at 9:30pm from the airport.

Hope you start feeling better...welcome to my world, the Wonderful World of Menopause where you don't just have hot flashes, your entire thermostat is broken.

I don't usually do the hiring. If we hire new managers that interview at the corp. office, then I usually get a chance to interview them if my boss is considering them. If he's not considering them, then they don't make it to my office. He just wants me to be a double check of his opinion that they seem qualified.

This last winter we started having some of our department head position resumes come directly to our office to start with. So I'm getting to look at quite a few. I prioritize them before I set them on his desk (they get a 1-4 ranking) and he usually only looks at the #1's; sometimes a few of the #2's. But he's been pleased with my prioritizing.

I would be happy to look at your resume. The main thing we look for is qualifications & not a lot of job hopping. We would rather see somebody with longer periods between jobs then somebody that gets a new job every 3 months. Some of them are hard to read, I think a simpler format works better, because when you have to read 100's of resumes you start not reading the entire thing and just look for things to stick out. Also, I've had a few resumes that almost made my #1 pile, but they misspelled or made really bad mistakes and if they were borderline, then I stick them in my #2 pile.:thumbsup2

My email is (my first & last name), followed by 1@comcast.net.

OMG! I'm on dial up internet, this is freakin' hilarious!:lmao:

Our internet card broke. I paid for insurance in case it broke. Now they want another $50 to send a new one, even with the insurance! We only have 3 months left on the contract & I can pay a $70 early termination fee if I want to get out of the 3 months.

I'm so freakin mad that they won't replace it without a new 2 year contract. My neighbor mentioned that he is getting a new high speed internet from some tower around here, so I have a call into him. Apparently it only costs about $30 a month (instead of the $70 we currently pay AT&T). So hopefully he calls back tomorrow and I can get signed up for new service.

In the meantime I'm back to my freebie Net Zero!:rotfl2:
