Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Actually for the first few days it isn't a problem eating on the late side because you are right the time difference does make a difference BUT the day we wanted to eat at T Rex was our very last of almost 10 and by then you are pretty much acclimated to the time. And we are usually pretty EARLY eaters anyway. I am up at 5:30 or 6 every morning and eat breakfast at that time so I am usually hungry for lunch by 10:30 or 11 and dinner by 5 but no later than 6. It is really hard for me to switch things up on vacations and then if so I usually have to have a snack or something if we are going to eat late.

It didn't matter though. We got a ressie at Flying fish which is YUM! I just wanted to T Rex for the girls but I prefer Flying fish anyway and I am hoping to snag one of the photogs to get some good shots of the girls all dolled up from their BBB day anyway! :)

Sigh...sounds like fun, wish I were going. I don't think we ever get used to the time change there, even we we are there for two weeks. It seems like we are all over the place, eating at strange times and I'm so tired it doesn't really matter when we do or don't eat!lol. I forget too that your kids are younger. With older kids, meal times aren't that much of an issue. As a matter of fact, it seems like I have to beg them to do a nice meal anymore. They would rather grab a burger or pizza and sit by the pool.

OK, here's the plan....we'll wait until the wind is blowing towards the exit of DCA. You can distract Albort momentarily and I'll jump up on the cart. I'll turn the umbrella sideways so we can use the wind as a sail. You grab a hold of the handle and run as fast as possible and I'll steer using the umbrella. Keep running until we reach the exit, at which point you will need to slow down so we can get our hand stamped for re-entry (I'll explain later). We will throw out all of the other non-Mickey ice cream's free & tell everyone (including security) that it's the Year of a Million Dreams, so nobody will think it's odd. You then hop on and we will ride with the wind over to HoJo's where we will sit by the pirate pool and eat Mickey Bars until our belly's bloat. After we run out we can head back over to DL, using our hand stamps and do the same thing there. What do ya think...are you in?:cool2:

let's go!

BTW Alison-I went over to my parents home recently and saw a large box of Neil Med Sinus Rinse on the counter. I said: "Hey! One of my friends highly recommended this for the longest time!" My older sister had it in her house too and said: "I use that too! It really works!" :lmao:

I use it too and I love it! :thumbsup2

This is just a wild suggestion I'm going to throw out there. But doesn't Nestle' make the Mickey Bars? If so, I would think you could probably go down to the local grocery store and buy a box of some kind of Nestle chocolate dipped ice cream bars and pretty much get the same thing.

Now I know that doesn't solve the problem of the shape. So you will just have to start at the bottom and turn the rectangular shape into a Mickey Head. It might look a little rough to start with, but if you lick the ice cream when done and then re-freeze for a few minutes surely it could pass for Mickey.:confused3 Couldn't it??:confused3

:rotfl:

I could imagine using vanilla ice cream and using a Mickey shaped metal cookie cutter for the outline maybe? :confused3 Then just sticking a popsicle stick into it and placing them on a baking sheet that would fit into the freezer to chill. Then melting chocolate and dipping it and freezing it? OR could we just hijack Albort's ODV and get some that way? :rotfl:

I was thinking of a cookie cutter too. :thumbsup2

But if I ignore Alton's advice, then I wouldn't have a breadmaker and if I didn't have a breadmaker that also serves as a door stop for the laundry room door, then I wouldn't know that you can also use it to make any dough for any bread recipe, and I wouldn't know that you don't have to actually cook the bread in it...just dump the ingredients in and let it do the stirring, kneading and first rise (if you want) and that I could then remove the dough, wrap it in lightly Pam sprayed plastic wrap and put it in the fridge until I want to cook it, which would be the way I would tell you to make your bread much less labor intensive, and I wouldn't be able to tell you how many bread makers are at garage sales & thrift stores for a couple of bucks and that you will probably have to move the rice cooker over to make room for the bread maker now.:rotfl2:;)

I had one, gave it to my sis... who got rid of it months later.:headache: I only know this because I had a hankering for bread making without the heat of the oven to contend with in summer. I just asked her last week, :rolleyes1 a year too late. Darn! Back to scoping out the bread makers at my fave store.. Unique Thrift! when I have money that is... argh!

It might look a little rough to start with, but if you lick the ice cream when done and then re-freeze for a few minutes surely it could pass for Mickey.:confused3 Couldn't it??:confused3

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Mutant Mickey heads?

We enjoyed the crowd free dining being on our own Central time zone for meals at DL. The problem with this oh so wise plan...we got hungry before some locations opened for lunch.

What?? You don't serve lunch at 10 am?? But why???

No, I don't want breakfast or brunch, I want my chicken platter to split with my dh, scavengering the vegies off my kids plates of course. And refilling one single glass 20 times to get our fill of POP yes it's POP not that other word :snooty: Now tell Tigger to go away and look for Pooh somewhere else, I want my chicken!

Or you could get up at noon and eat whenever the mood strikes, that's what we do.. waiting for my dinner from my magical rice cooker now @ 7:30 ish. We crawl into bed at 2 am.. it's an odd life but hey it works for now. I'm gonna laugh when the boys have to start school and catch the bus at 6:28 am in a few weeks. :p

Okay...#1. Kelly. Im sorry. I know you were refering to me, and please know that I never meant to hurt your feelings. I do read everything that is posted even if I dont respond to it. Especially lately, since I just dont have a whole honking lot of time to get on the computer these days.. I tend to keep things short and sweet and update on what is going on here. At least, that is my plan. :rolleyes1 I have been working my butt of trying to get ready to be invaded by the Germans, and then three weeks of them being here, and now we have a 17yo living with us.. Im sure you can imagine that I am busy with five kids and a hubster to take care of. Anyways.. Im sorry, and I didnt mean to slight you in ANY WAY.

#2. WTH. All Im gonna say.

#3. Yikes. Worst day ever yesterday. I wont lay it all out for you all here, but I spent most of the day in a dead panic and bawling my eyes out.. and ended up having to borrow a HUGE sum of money from my mom. Not really borrow I guess.. She just gave it to me. It almost ended up being a TON more, (think several thousand $) but I talked her out of that one! The freaking BEST PART??? It was Julies birthday. Which we spent driving to Portland, and with my mom... then driving home. But I told my mom and she took her (us all) out to dinner and bought her a hoodie at Costco. I got home at 10:30 and we still had to unload the van with all the stuff my mom bought us at costco.. WHich was about two full honking carts of stuff. (that was NOT included in the huge sum of money we got from her... just a surprise she threw in for us.) But we made up for it today.. Took her to the mall and Target and I bought her a cell phone to use here. The same one as mine. A whopping $20 cheapy phone!:lmao:SHe is just happy to have something to call us on. She brought her German phone, but its pretty useless here, unless she wants to call her mom or something. But it wont call american numbers.

AND I got a call from the school today and they want her to go in for ESL testing. So now she is all freaked out about that. I told her not to worry, it wont count against her in credits and stuff. Heck, if she gets into ESL it might be a little easier for her. I dont really know. Then we have new student orientation on the same day. AND we got all the fees for her school stuff.. Not all. Just for the ASB card, and yearbook.. Which she wants both of, of course. Never having gone to an American school, all this is very knew to her. SO that is going to put us back $75 or so. Surprised the heck out of me! When I was in high school my ASB card was like $10. NOT $35!! Sheesh!

Anyways.. Thats all. Yesterday was awful, really... really awful.. Today was better..

Alison, Im glad you came back to us!

Sarah... That race sounds intense, and YOU GO GIRLFRIEND!!

Pix... You know..;) I am way down with you sister. :thumbsup2

B... Want my breadmaker?? You can just run over here and get it. :rotfl2: My MIL showed me how to make German bread, and it is so easy, it just takes a few minutes.. but it does heat up the kitchen when I bake it. Duh.

If I have forgotten anyone.. Im sorry. I have the attention span of a 2yo!

Megan no worries and it was NOT just aimed at you. Like I said it just seemed to me that you guys were a really tight group from before and I just kind of felt like maybe I was "inteferring" or was butting in where I wasn't wanted or something. And like I said I probably was being overly sensitive but sometimes you just want to know that people even acknowledge that you are even here and for awhile there NO ONE was and it probably wasn't even anyone's fault and probably no one person even really knew they were doing it but like I said I just got my feelings hurt and so rather than even say anything I just left. And I don't have to tell you the rest. I was NOT happy with how it all "came out" but regardless that was yesterday and today is a new day and it's all good, done over with forgiven and forgotten.

No worries, no grudges and I'm not mad at anyone honestly. I'm just glad that it is over and we can move past this.

I'm really sorry that things are rough for you but so glad that your mom was able to help you out!!!

And good luck with all the fun of dealing with your sis in law. I have an 18 year old stepdaughter and I won't get into it but I will just say it was a challenge. She sounds like a pretty good kid though and like she is going to be a lot of help to you guys so I am glad that she is that way and not a pain in the butt as so many teens unfortunately can be.

((hugs)) and hope things start looking up for you and again no worries!! :)

Okay.. Good.. again, I am so sorry if I hurt your feelings. ANYWAYS!! We are all good now, right? :goodvibes Julie is a good girl, and I have to say.. It was nice having her here yesterday. She was so cool about everything, and I was so grateful to have someone with me to help me keep my head on straight. Otherwise it would have been just me and the kids.. and I was seriously loosing my mind. At one point I grabbed her arm and said.. Look hon.. This is MY stress to carry right now. I WILL fix it. I dont want you to worry about it, okay?? She looked at me and said NO. I will share this stress with you, and that way it will ease some if it off of you. I WILL help you through this. SERIOUSLY. She just turned 17 yesterday. She is an amazing kid. Still can be a crabby teen... but a really mature kid when it comes down to it. I dont know what I would have done if it wasnt for her yesterday.. Dh was working, so I was on my own to fix it. I have gotten so close to this kid over the past month.. I really feel like she IS one of my kids! My mom was so great with her too.. She totally treated her just like she was one of my kids!

That is a mature and loving thing to say, she is an awesome amazing teen!

And are you okay? I hope things get better for you soon. Stress can take big old bite out of a person. Take care of you and big breath.. have faith, it will be better. As long as you have a home, food and love.. that's all you really need.

As for the school fees, if she qualifies for reduced/ free lunch most schools cover any class or bus fees (not the yearbook of course, I can't afford the yearbook here it's $65!)
ASB must be a west coast thing, don't have that here. Fees are collected as they occur if you go to a dance or sports. At least you know what it means... when we signed the boys up for school in CA we got some vague description of what ASB, AVID and some other program was about.

"oh, it's this club and it's good for them"
okay but what is it??Can you give me a flyer and he can sign up later? "uhhh, I don't have any copies"

:confused3

Well fine, then he isn't signing up. :snooty:

Yes def all good!! :) No worries!! And that is SO awesome that she is a good girl. It seems like in this day and age that is harder and harder to find. She is going to be such a huge help to you I think and what a great thing to have when you really need some stress relief. She sounds very mature for her age!! I can tell you with my daughter I raised her from 7 and it is SO hard when you think you did everything right and no matter what you do they still go down the wrong path. :( We had two VERY bad years with our daughter and things STILL aren't good. She is not in our lives any more (in the sense that she lives in Virginia and we are in CA) but dh still talks to her and there is still constant drama. We have tried over and over again to give her advice and try to lead her down the right road but sometimes with kids like that you just have to let them make their mistakes and pray to god that they learn from them and don't end up in jail or dead! You are so lucky to have one of the good ones that has her head on straight and can actually help YOU out and is not a constant stress on you guys!

And again I hope that things start looking up for you guys. I can DEF relate on the stress front. It seems like at times I think to myself what ISN'T stressful in my life but then I just have to remind myself that at least for the time being I have a roof over my head and my kids are healthy and they are two of the greatest little kids anyone could want and I love them to death and am so proud of them and they really make all the other crap in the world ok! ;)

And hey there is always Disney eh? ;) I think that is why I like it so much because whenever everything else seems to suck that is my escape. I can come read someones trip reports or just look at the pics of the day and just remember my last trip or fantasize about my next one and everytime someone says you are going AGAIIIINNNN I say yeah that's right because that is one place that when I walk through those gates it is so magical that I forget about all the crap and just love it there. Between the music and the fantasy and even when it is hot and crowded I can just sit on a bench and take it all in.

Anyway I am rambling LOL but I hope today is a better day and so glad that you have Julie to help relieve some of your stress! :)

As for ME....today I am hoping to not melt LOL. Not sure what the forecast holds but I think it is STILL going to be up there. Not QUITE as bad but still pretty warm. Luckily other than taking the girls back and forth to school I don't have to go anywhere else till tomorrow thank goodness!!

Mom got our plane tickets so I think we are finally good to go on our trip. She said she still needs to secure the rental car for the 2nd half of our trip but that is incidental and then in a few weeks she will have to pay the balance on the package and we will find out more about magical express and get our stuff in the mail. We have always stayed off site so this is all new to us. This whole dinning thing is new and plus it is free so I'm loving it!! :)

But anyway I also have to reserve our room for dec. So I'm a happy camper. 2 trips coming up!! Yay!!

Anywho it's time for the girls to rise and shine so I better run.

See yall later!!

Staley- I'm sorry to hear of your financial troubles and I hope that things improve for you and your family

Your SIL sounds so mature and she has a good head on her shoulders. :) I'm glad that you have her as support. It's so great that she wants to help you and your family. I hope she does well on the ESL testing. I know that can be frightening. I have known people who have had to take that since they moved here from another country.

Last night I went out with my bro and a mutual friend. We also met up with some new people who were quite friendly and fun. We had such a good time and went to a Farmer's Market. I bought a cool Jack Skellington necklace. My friend knew a couple who sells merchandise there. They gave me a discount and were so nice. My bro and I tried a cheese, tomato and basil empanada from one of the stands. It was so delicious and tasty! I would have bought more but they were $2.50/EA. It was good though! :thumbsup2

We did eat BBQ grilled chicken with jasmine rice and pineapple and I had a strawberry & banana smoothie that was poured into an actual hollowed-out pineapple with a strawberry and umbrella and pineapple slice at the top. It was really delicious. A few people stopped me and said: "Excuse me, but where did you get that from?" :rotfl: You guys can see the pics on my FB. ;)

Thanks guys... We are all good now. My mom REALLY came through for us when I really needed her. PLUS she had ALL the kids school clothes waiting for us at her house. There was tons of clothes. WHich was AWESOME. I just stupidly got us in a huge hole that when it came crunch time, I couldnt fix. and it HAD to be fixed in about a one day time frame. BUT... Thankfully my mom was there to help. It was our car payment.. I got behind. WAY behind. My mom wanted to just pay off the car altogether.. But I said NO FREAKING WAY. I love my mom, but she tends to hold that kinda thing over your head, you know? I dont want to feel like I am in debt to her for 20 grand. My husband on the other hand was like.. Screw it! Let her pay for it. We know she has the money. Ummmmm... NO!

We ARE lucky with Julie. She is awesome. She is still a teenager, and totally acts like a teen most o the time. But when we are in a crunch, she is amazing. hehehehe... I have a funny story.. Kinda. There is this little boy that lives in the complex, and he is a little slow.. I used to have Alex kinda watch out for him, make sure the other kids dont pick on him to much.. Whatever.. Then we started noticing that..1. his parents dont seem to give a crap about him. That made me sad for him.. 2.. The kids picks on younger kids that cant stick up or themselves. Like Kaylee. We have had 3 or 4 times where she has come up BAWLING and BLEEDING because he has pushed her down. I dont blame the kid. I really dont. His parents are AWFUL. Yesterday he knocks Kaylee down, she comes in with her leg all bloody and I LOST MY MIND. I called Alex in and told him I was done. I this kid messes with you or your sister... Kick his BUTT. Not the right way to take care of it, I know.. But his parents arent doing CRAP about this stuff.

Anyways.. I go to Julie and tell her what happened, and she was in her jammies.. She grabs her clothes and as she is running through the house stripping, and throwing on her other clothes she is yelling how she is going to kill this kid because NO ONE messes with her babies!!:lmao::lmao: Anyways.. We go to leave to take her out later on, and all the little kids are yelling at this one kid, and throwing rocks at him. I was like.. WTH?? NO. Of course.. there is one kids little brother sitting on the ground crying, and BLEEDING.. The kid is like 3, and Darby went after him. So dh ran up and got Darby's dad and said there is something going on with your kid, you need to be outside handling it. He come running down, talks to Darby for a minute and comes stomping over to us.. He said Alex has been beating him up.:mad: I DONT THINK SO. I laid into that guy and told him everything that has been going on. I showed him Kaylees legs.. EVERYTHING. I told him about his little angel..:rolleyes1 shoving another boys head into the wall over.. and over.. and over again. He said.. Oh. Sorry. Ill handle it. Mmm. Yeah. Right. I was hot. It is NOT the first time we have gone to them with this stuff. I rather think CPS will handle it if we have any more issues. I know our apartment manager is thinking about calling on these people, and when I complained.. She told me I should call as well. This is a special needs kid, out ALL hours of the day and night, no parents in sight, I have seen him playing on the main street.. WHich I told his mom she was out there and she didnt care! GRRRRRR. I wish they would just move! I dont want to see when he gets hit by a car!

Wow.. Im sorry! That was really long winded! But this whole situation makes me CRAZY!!:headache:

Megan that is so awesome that your mom was able to help you guys out. It seems my mom will be helping us till the end of time. We are living in the house I grew up in and we pay a lowered rent then what she could get if she were to rent it to the general public but with dh taking a 10/hr pay cut it was the only way we could make due. And she still pays some of the utilities on the place to like water and garbage and such which really helps us out. It is a BIG house and those things get expensive. Esp here where the meter the water and such (we live on an acre). But for us it is a give and take. They don't really want to sell the place so by us living in it and "taking care of it" and paying them some rent to offset the payment it helps them and in turn we get a place to rent that is cheaper then if we had to go find a place. So we are helping eachother out. But SOME day I would love to be able to own my own place again!! I owned two houses during my first marriage and as tough as it was to get by it was such a good feeling to be able to do it on my own. But in this day and age it seems sometimes we ALL need a little help!!

And that whole situation with the little kid (I wasn't sure if it was a boy or girl, you probably said but I was confused LOL) That is just nuts! I hope they move or your manager turns them in or something. It is not good for the child or anyone ELSE'S kids yours included. SHEESH!

And don't worry about talking about it. It helps to vent about stuff like that! I totally get it. We all need to do that sometimes! :)

Hey on a happy note I booked our room for Dec! So now I have TWO trips to look forward to! I am so excited. I don't think we have been to DL at Christmas since like 06! So I am really excited. I can't remember if I said anything on here but my dh isn't going with us to DW in Nov and he was pretty bummed because he hasn't been on ANY vacation since our short little 4 day vacation last Oct to DL. So he really wanted to go SOMEWHERE and suggested we do another short weekend trip in Dec. So we are driving down the day the girls get out of school and only staying 3 days but I'll take it! So excited!

Anyway I am off to pick up the girls from school here in a minute (short day today) and then they have soccer practice tonight. Have a good rest of your day everyone!! :)

Its a little boy.. GAH! Drives me nuts!

Yeah for going on two trips!! We are going to Disnelyand in December too.. We are driving down to My sisters house for CHristmas break, and taking Julie to Disney for the first time. :cool1:

LOL after I wrote that I went back and looked and saw you said that. Brain fart!!! Ok I am old I admit it. Can't even remember what the hell I read 5 minutes after I read it. ACK!!!

Awesome you are taking her to Disney!!! Has she been to ANY Disney parks or is the a first to any of them? If so how awesome for her! DEF take lots of pics! How great to see her face and it will be like a little kid I am sure!! She is going to love it! I don't even remember if I have been with anyone who has never been but how fun that would be!!

Heck maybe we will pass you by as we are heading home ;)

And it will be all pretty for Christmas! :thumbsup2 :santa:

Yikes on the whole kids beating each other up scene.. how sad and disturbing for that little boy with special needs. Sounds like he has become aggressive to compensate for not fitting in with the other children.. which turns into a disaster when he gets older in school and causes tons of problems later unless someone intervenes. Unfortunately, CPS may find that his physical needs are being taken care of enough and just give the parents a warning or parenting classes. Until something very bad happens. BUT if someone does report at least a file will be created. Hopefully their lease won't be renewed.

I had issues with other kids in the apt complex when the boys were small. Bratty kids, parents not keeping an eye on them. When the family was about to move, things escalated and my boys were getting blamed for being noisy and making a mess on the sidewalk. I told the boys not to play with those kids (knowing they would move in a month or so).. well the mom came pounding on my door and tried to call me racist for not letting my kids play. uhh no.. I just want them to stay safe! I was so happy when they moved and months later we moved away for eloy's college.

woohooo, happy news.. the big bad scary thought of not having money for bills is averted... for at least a little while. :rolleyes1 Eloy looked at his upcoming pay stub, we thought he was done with his deferred pay from last year's salary.. but I guess not. YEAH! I thought so, but Eloy was not convinced. So I got to do the "told you so" snotty sing song routine :rotfl2:

Oh yes, and my body has noticed it's hot today. Darn you cool weather for disappearing! Motrin (okay, generic Walmart brand) here I come. grrrrrr!
Happier news, I can finally get a diagnosis next month because we will be poor enough to get insurance thru the state.. yeah for being poor :thumbsup2.. that's sarcasm if you didn't realize.
