Should we call you Doug from now on? :teeth:
Just the name Matterhorn Macaroon sounds good. I really want one. Are they sold in the bakery or where?

Good morning gals and Albert ;)

As they say it's a new day so let's all start over fresh and "don't worry, be happy".

Rochelle I have told you before and I will say it again, what you have gone through is extremely hard and NO one can knock you for it. I have gone through a lot of tough stuff myself and what the heck is this "chat" board for if not to CHAT about our lives and gain support from our friends. Talk all you want. I for one am here and will give you all the support you need because I have been there done that. I have never even HAD a relationship that has lasted that long. My first marriage only lasted 8 years but I HAVE been through a divorce so in that respect I can relate to an extent. And unfortunately I am going through a rough time currently and have been married almost 12 years so am a little closer to where you are at. So I CERTAINLY can relate to needing someone to talk to and needing support.

I am proud of you and think you are doing awesome!!

Oh man is it hot down there? HOLY COW it is hot here. 107 yesterday and they said it is going to break records again today. You KNOW it is going to be bad when you wake up and it is ALREADY 80 degrees at 6 a.m. FAINT!!!

I have a TERRIBLE sinus headache from sleeping under the constant AC all night. The vent is RIGHT over my head in our bed and then of course Shane had to have the fan blowing on us on top of it LOL. I am one of those people that having air blowing on me makes my sinuses go nuts. So know I have a sinus migraine. BLEH. I was supposed to go to a jewelry party with mom last night but when I went to pick up the girls from school that heat did me in and so I didn't go because I KNEW that being out in that I would get a terrible headache and sure enough this morning BAM!

Anyway I have told some of you but for those that don't know we have been going back and forth FOREVER about going back to Florida. My mom has a timeshare and discovered about a year ago that she had 2 weeks that she hadn't deposited but nonetheless they were there and she had to use them or loose them. Well we have been trying to decide for the last year what to do with them. Last year we were going to use them but instead we ended up going to DC/NYC. So then this year she really wanted to trade it for a cruise and we thought about it but it was pretty expensive so then we found out about free dinning and so we decided about a month ago to do that.

Mom booked it but we haven't bought the airfare or anything and life has just been stressful and we have literally gone back and forth on this thing 100 times as to whether or not we were going to go but she is BOUND and determined even though we prob shouldn't. BUT she does have that week which she is going to lose AND she has already paid a dep for the DW part sooo we prob should go. So today as long as I don't fall over from this headache LOL I am prob going to go in and we are going to attempt to finally get the airfare bought and make our ADRS. Wish us luck!! I hope it all works out. Eventhough I am apprehensive I am still excited and DEF can use the break!! :)

And then this weekend is the girls seeding tournament for soccer so it is going to be a busy weekend. Then of course there is a break for labor day and then we are having Katy's big Luau birthday party. Her real birthday is actually New Year's eve but she has always wanted a "summer" party so we are letting her do it early this year. She is SO excited.

So lots of fun and exciting things coming up.

Anyway that is what's been going on in my life. Hope everyone is good and happy to be back.

Take care everyone and have a GREAT day! :)
Ugh I always get sinus headaches from AC too. We have a portable AC unit thingy and I refused to let dh bring it into our room so he pulled the fan in and points it at our faces so I still get a headache and my face gets cold but my body is hot.
Have fun booking your trip! I think you should go for it, you likely won't regret going but you might regret not going.
Thanks Kelly for your comment. I really appreciate it. I know I am on the right path and I am not going to allow anyone to throw me off or put me down. It isn't easy but I know I have a better future and will be happier. Thank you all for the support :grouphug:

That sucks about the sinus headache  I always sleep with the fan on because my room is the hottest one in the house :faint: I don't like it but the fan helps. The A/C is on auto so that helps too.

That luau party sounds like fun :smooth: I hope you go on your much needed vacation with your family. I hope to do a Disney Cruise one day and go back to WDW.

I want to do a Disney cruise so bad too! Everyone I know that's been on it says it's absolutely amazing. If only I was rich.

What is it with these silly dh's and their fans??? LOL. In fact we had TWO fans in our room. We had a box fan on dh's side of the room that sounded like a wind tunnel LOL and then I had one of those standing round fans that ocillates but I kind of had it facing away from me so as to not blow directly on me and it was not nearly as noisy. Well dh went to bed before me last night and comes back down a few minutes later to tell me that the box fan "blew up". LITERALLY lol. He said it made this pop and was SMOKING!! EEK!!!!

I am SO worried all the time about this place catching on fire because it is over 100 years old and all wood and would go up like a box of matches if there were ANY kind of fire. So needless to say that scared the ca ca out of me. He brought the fan down and set it in the living room to take out to his truck and dispose of in the morning but I was so nervous about it I set it outside on our patio. I was worried it somehow might spark and catch on fire. Then when I came to bed our whole room smelled like smoke. SCARY!!!

After losing one of my kids (them dieing) my house burning down is my next biggest fear. Losing all my memories in a fire is just so scary to me. You can replace your furniture and your clothes etc but my kids baby books, all the things they have made in school and of course all our photos would devistate me. Those precious memories can't be replaced!

Anyway nuff of that LOL.

But about our trip, as far as I know it is PROB going to happen. Mom is bound and determined like I said and as much as the reasonable side of me is hesitant the spontaneous side really wants to go and NEEDS to go and just get away from all the ca ca of life. So I think that I am going to run in to work here in a bit and we are going to go ahead and get the tickets. Everything has been refundable up to this point but once we get the airfare it will pretty much be set. And she has to pay the balance on the package in a few weeks and then it will REALLY be set in stone because I think she will lose a bunch of money if she were to cancel after that.

Sooo I think it is def on. It is just one of those silly grown up things where your head says you prob shouldn't go, trying to be all sensible and all that LOL but your heart says, ahhh just go for it! ;)

Kelly- I have friends and relatives who have their b-days around Christmas time and they always tell me it sucks sometimes. They say that people combine their Xmas gift and b-day gift into one present and they don't like it. I don't blame them. lol.

Christina- the Matterhorn Macaroon is sold at Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main St. I was told by the CM's that they sell out pretty fast and they try to make several batches a day. I bought 4 of them to share with my family. My brother devoured it in less than 2 minutes! :rotfl: :lmao: I can't find my pic I took of it but here is one I found:

2ecjlso.jpg

I wish they sold Mickey ice cream bars in the markets. That would be awesome :smooth: I watched an episode of Unwrapped on the Food Network and they showed how they were made. Yummy!

Oh my gosh those macaroons looked SO good. I saw a whole table of them one morning but we were in there for breakfast and it was too early for one. I wanted to go back and get one but never did. SOOOO want to try one of those. I hope they have them if we go in Dec!! They looked SOOO good!!!

Hi,

My name is Alison and I have a confession...I haven't been on the DIS in 1 entire month! :scared1: I've just been to flipping busy all summer. Yes, I know that I should be hanging my head down in shame and I assure you that I am.

So why haven't I been around you ask? The reasons are numerous:

1. My hot flashes have escalated to epic proportions. I can no longer stand to sit anywhere near my laptop at night because it generates heat and I'm about to go street rat crazy.

2. We've been busy working on and camping at our beach lot. Heck, I don't even have cell service there (unless I walk to the end of the driveway or go drive into town). No internet service (which is probably a good thing).

3. I hired my daughter to work in our office this summer and I'm trying to set a good example.

4. My new name is either Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart. I recently subscribed to E-Mealz and now spend every evening cooking. I forgot how much I loved cooking. I just hated trying to figure out what to cook and assembling all the ingredients, only to be missing something. Now it's all figured out for me and cooking dinner is no longer a dreaded chore at the end of my work day.

Anyway, hello all! I see I missed about 10 pages of fun and excitement, but I don't have time to read it. Anything I need to know about, if so bring me up to speed.

Hi Alison! You were missed! I'm sorry to hear about your hot flashes. That really sucks :( It sounds like camping at the beach is fun and I think not having internet and being away from electronics once in a while is a good thing. :thumbsup2

I need to start cooking again too. I loved cooking and baking stuff but haven't done much of both recently. It was always fun for me and I think I should start again. I've been wanting to make scones and I believe I saw a scone pan at Cost Plus for $10. Either that or I'm sure Home Goods or TJ Max may have one for cheap too.

Alison we've missed you!!! Yay so glad to see you!! Sorry about those dreaded hot flashes. I am at the stage where I either get so flippin hot that I can't see and I literally sweat through my clothes, I know I know tmi, or the next minute I am freezing, courtesy of my lovely bp meds that cut off all circulation to my extremities. Gotta love it eh? lol

That is awesome that you are having fun with the cooking. I used to LOVE to cook but I have not been into it the last few years because A I just don't have the time or patience with all the sports and other junk we have going on and B I tend to EAT what I cook and I am already a heifer LOL. So I find if I don't cook then I don't eat it. ;)

Course I am STILL a heifer but at least I am not a WHALE yet LOL. Could be worse! ;)

Glad to see you and hope you stop by more. Not much going on on my end other than I am preparing to take a trip to the world and getting ready to throw Katy a Luau 11th bday bash but that's bout it for me.

I am sure the others have some exciting things to share.

Stop by when you can!! Miss your humor!! :)

:cheer2:

and

:cheer2: You have guts for signing up for the half. I will admire you from far far away, Go Sarah! as I sip my coke while I lounge in the recliner and type on my laptop. I wanna see pics of your medal, they are seriously cool looking the one year we watched the finish line. Hoping you have a nice cool cloudy day. :thumbsup2 It was hot hot hot in the 100's the one year we watched :faint:

My race starts at 6:00am on the 5th of Sept. I'm not sure what time it will be in your neck of the woods. :confused3 We have to be there at the starting line
(near the DL Hotel) at 4:30am. :scared1: At least it should be cool that time of the morning. Clouds would be good. :thumbsup2

Sara have fun at ZZ Top. LOVE them!! Reminds me of my high school days. By the way my 25th reunion is in a few weeks and I am still debating about going. None of my close friends are able to go so I hadn't planned to go but it sounds like fun so it is still up in the air.

And that is SO awesome that you are doing the marathon. I hope your mom or DBF gets lots of pics and I agree with B. I wanta see that medal!!

And yeah hope it cools off!!! It was 107 here today! BLEH! I was supposed to go to a jewelry show with mom but this heat sets off my migraines so alas here I sit. :)

And thanks so much Christina for saying that. I really appreciate it. :)

DBF is going camping/fishing with his friend Labor Day weekend but my mom will be there at the finish line. My aunt is running with me but I think she'll probably leave me in the dust. :rotfl:

I want a Mickey Bar too! :mickeybar

Here is the pic I got

Those are so cute. But what is a macaroon?

Sarah (Moto)- You will do great in the race! I'm excited for you and think it's impressive that you are taking on the 5K marathon. :yay: :yay:

Macaroons are cookies that are made out of coconut. And they are HEAVENLY (if you like coconut that is ;) )

The most I have run so far is 8 1/2 miles. If I start running at 6:00pm after I get home it starts getting dark around the 8.5 mile mark so that's the most I've done. DBF says if I can do that much then I should be fine with 13.1 miles. I'm a tiny bit dissapointed with the medals this year. The past 4 years they have been of the Castle but this year there is a big 5 on them for the 5 year anniversarry. I don't really like it but maybe in person they will look better. It's the image in my siggy.

I love coconut! But I've never had a macaroon. I will have to try one when I'm there in a few weeks.

I think no matter how many miles you run, it's still awesome :) The medal is cute but I can see how the castle image may look better than the #5. At least Mickey is on it :)

Here's the one from 2005 (the first year of the DL 1/2)
disneyhalfmedal.jpg

Here's the one from 2007:
Disney07medal.jpg

I'm pretty sure the past 4 years have all been the same so I guess some people will like the new one.

Plus it looks like the lanyard is through the actual medal which is good because I have read online about the medals falling off the lanyard becasue they are so heavy they stretch the little piece of medal that hooks them to the lanyard.

Those castle ones are nice. I hope the one you are getting this year doesn't rip or tear and will be more sturdy holding the emblem. The castle one looks quite heavy.

As they say it's a new day so let's all start over fresh and "don't worry, be happy".

You KNOW it is going to be bad when you wake up and it is ALREADY 80 degrees at 6 a.m. FAINT!!!

I have a TERRIBLE sinus headache from sleeping under the constant AC all night.

we are having Katy's big Luau birthday party. Her real birthday is actually New Year's eve but she has always wanted a "summer" party so we are letting her do it early this year. She is SO excited.

So lots of fun and exciting things coming up.

Excellent all around (minus the heat and the sinus headache)!
What is a seeding tournament?
So it's her unbirthday!

We pick a day in the dead of winter, when we have not been graced by sunlight in weeks and weeks, tired of bundling to the eyeballs to prevent frostbite.. when winter makes ME want to go street rat crazy (thanks for adding that to my vocab Alison) .. we have a luau inside. :beach: Crank up the heat, wear shorts, eat pineapple, drink something tropical with silly umbrellas in the glass. Dream about the heat of summer and sunshine.. ahhhhh.

And I SO would love to do a Disney Cruise or ANY cruise for that matter someday. But for now I am happy to get to do ANY vacation!! :)

:yay:

What is it with these silly dh's and their fans???

Well dh went to bed before me last night and comes back down a few minutes later to tell me that the box fan "blew up". LITERALLY lol. He said it made this pop and was SMOKING!! EEK!!!!

It is just one of those silly grown up things where your head says you prob shouldn't go, trying to be all sensible and all that LOL but your heart says, ahhh just go for it! ;)

We have in our bedroom when the heat is ungodly too much.
1. ceiling fan
2. tall standing fan
3. my small fan
4. eloy's larger fan
5. window fan

Last night it was blessedly cool, turned off a few fans and added some blanket layers. Ahhhhhh, yes please more fall weather would be delightful.

We had a computer monitor that was old and acting odd. It turned itself off, I clicked it back on and SNAP poof out came a plume of smoke. I freaked, unplugged it and hurriedly tossed it outside. It didn't do anything else, but it freaked me out!

I get peeved when people prop doors or leave stairwell windows open. We lived in apt building where a child played with matches and lit the carpet on fire in a stairwell. It was contained to one area because the manager was VERY particular about windows kept close and no doors propped open. I wish the staff here would be as careful, they keep propping the laundry door. It is to be closed and locked as last summer someone broke into the storage lockers in the room. Eloy and I kick the door stopper away and it gets lost behind the machines. :thumbsup2

I'm about to go street rat crazy.

No internet service (which is probably a good thing).

My new name is either Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart.

Tsk Tsk

eeeek, where is the rat trap?

No internet is good?? nooooooooooooo not true!

But I thought you said your name is Alison the street rat?

oh yeah, welcome back we missed you!:goodvibes

I've been wanting to make scones and I believe I saw a scone pan at Cost Plus for $10. Either that or I'm sure Home Goods or TJ Max may have one for cheap too.

hmm, I think you can make scones without a pan.. let me check.

I tend to EAT what I cook and I am already a heifer

:lmao:
Right there with ya!

My race starts at 6:00am on the 5th of Sept. I'm not sure what time it will be in your neck of the woods.

We are two hours difference.. it would be 8 am. Switch cola with coffee and I will be set to imagine from a far... far .. far away.

So at about 11:00am your time be sure to cheer me on crossing the finish line! :lmao:

I have heard that there will be a way to sync cell phones up so they receive text messages everytime a runner crosses a mile marker. We have to wear something on our shoe that will keep our time.
