Looks like you will be in town during Riverbend. Here's a link to the festival info:
http://riverbendfestival.com/

Expect the weather to be in the mid to upper 80's normally and humid with possibility of showers in the afternoon.

I have fond memories of our stops there. Fun town and no one has said anything about the Tow Truck Museum. Not sure if it is still there but back when we just had the oldest-he was 18 months or so- he LOVED the Tow Truck Museum. We also did the Children's Museum-nice, River Boat Ride, Aquarium and walked all over. But the Tow Truck Museum sticks out. Have fun!!

I am almost getting my feelings hurt.

Everyone who has posted "noone has mentioned..." has not seen that I HAVE MENTIONED IT? Did anyone even see my list? Am I just being ignored? :confused3

What is lula lake? where is it? more info fro another sorta local.

thanks

Lula Lake is one of the prettiest places on Lookout Mtn. It also is a good stop if traveling the 90 miles of Lookout mtn parkway to see the mostly overlooked attractiosn strecting from ten, ga and Al.

Lula lake is located about 5 minutes form Rock City. It is a land trust adn so only open twice a month on the first and last sat of each month. There is BEUTIFUL water falls, great views from the cliffs adn amazing streams and plantlife. Awsome hikes adn just pretty untouched mountain lands!

Heres the website
http://www.lulalake.org/

MORE ABOUT THE LOOKOUT MTN PARKWAY
This is a good day trip when visiting Chattanooga (this is liek an eco trip)
Youll see some things like the following
Lula Lake
The Hangliding school, (COOL TO WATCH)
an animal sancturary
Small art galleries
Desoto Falls adn State park
Cloudland Canyon State Park
Nocolula Falls
and all kinds of smaller attractions adn thigns.

It is gonna be HOT!!! You will be here for Riverbend..I hope you get a chance to attend..it is really fun (well if you like to be around a lot of people), but if you can handle Disney,, then you can handle Riverbend!!!

Even though I kind of high-jacked this thread I learned a lot :) Thanks. So resturants down town with out kids...... Tony's (I feel like I am at MK) and others you guys would suggest? I seen that Riverboat that someone put a link to that website..... we might do that too. Looks really nice and they have a 7pm thought that would be really different, with 3 kids we NEVER eat at 7pm ;)

Thanks! Oh and sorry about the high-jacking :)

Also from Chattanooga. Great place to visit and to live. I'm happy to see a bunch of folks considering relocating to the area. As a Realtor, I'm always proud to see people coming to our area.

Some restaurants downtown to enjoy without kids:

1) 212 Market (212market.com) - A great restaurant with excellent service. The desserts here are fantastic. Located a block from the Tennessee Aquarium.

2) Foodworks (riversidefoodworks.com) - Located on the North Shore near Coolidge Park. The restaurant is in a former knitting mill with indoor and outdoor seating options. Fresh seafood options and great appetizers.

3) Tony's Pasta - already mentioned in this thread. Located right on the bluff above the Tennessee River in the Bluff View Art District. Don't miss Rembrandts Coffee shop while you're there.

4) Hennens (hennens.net) - a steakhouse right next door to the IMAX and the Tennessee Aquarium. Fantastic food here. Also in the same building are Easy Seafood Co. (easybistro.com) and The Blue Plate (theblueplate.info)

5) The typical national chains: TGIFridays, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, Big River Grill, Panera Bread, Taco Mac, etc are scattered throughout the downtown/Aquarium area.

One thing to keep in mind: restaurants located near the Aquarium will be VERY VERY busy during the Riverbend Festival June 5-13. Parking and admission to the area will be difficult from 4PM on. Riverbend is dark on Monday, June 8 though so that might be a good time to hit up the area.

As for earlier in the thread: that Holiday Inn that has "a Chattanooga Choo Choo theme" is the actual Chattanooga Choo Choo. Holiday Inn bought the facility 15 or so years ago and manages the hotel including the train cars.

Enjoy your visit to Chattanooga!

we went sevral yrs ago to the Back Inn Cafe in the BVAD....it was wonderful. When Rachael Ray was in town she ate there for her show. I've not been in a few yrs but it would great for a couple romantic dinner

My family and I went and did Rock City - cool for one time - no need to go back! Ruby Falls and the incline rail were too expensive for what they appeared to be and I don't regret not going. The kids didn't either. Holiday Inn - dirty! Trundle bed in the train car hadn't been made - bad service. That place is a huge joke in our family and we paid almost $200 for one night!! My daughter and I went back to a regular room about a year and a half ago and there was a dirty tissue in the bed. It was an okay part of a trip that also included Atlanta.

was a great experience. I did it 20 years ago on a break during a college hoops tourny.

Thank you so much for the dinner help. I would love to stay away from the "typical" stuff so this really helps :) Thanks!

I gotta put in my two cents concerning the Chattanooga Zoo I saw mentioned in a previous post. We visited about 2 years ago. It was absolutely the worst zoo my family has seen.

First, it's far from downtown. Don't even think about walking there (just believe me on this one :rotfl2:).

The first sign of the quality of the zoo is the parking lot. Drug stores have bigger parking lots than this zoo. The zoo itself is tucked behind a college softball field. I honestly believe they are both the same size. The zoo was filthy. The gift shop/ticket sales employee was rude. They have no drink stands or food inside the zoo. Their drinks come from a soda machine outside (Really). We used coupons we got from the TN Welcome Center, which made 4 tickets about $25. I believe there were maybe ten visitors in the whole zoo.

In case I haven't been clear, we hated this place. I wouldn't wish this zoo on my ex-wife. popcorn::

OK. Rant over.

Seriously now, we did enjoy Chattanooga as a whole. ATT Field, IMAX, the Aquarium are all downtown. I just recommend staying around downtown, other than to see Rock City.
