Chase to rollout Disney DEBIT card rewards TODAY 8-12-09!!!

I got mine on Monday, and just LOVE it!!
I wish it would offer a bit higher return, but it's free money anyway, so I'm happy. Besides, the smile on my face every time I hand it over to a merchant...priceless!:thumbsup2

Ok you convience me, I am ordering one

bumbershoot-
Free Rewards aren't hidden and the bank prefer you use SOME sort of rewards program because in the long room it saves them money if you sign for purchases (which you have to do to earn rewards)...

Yeah, the banker would push the Leisure Rewards (the current $25/year debit card reward program) because they get points for it. Points dictate how much they are paid at the end of the month.
If you use your debit card, though, it's easy! I know several people who cash in their rewards at the end of the year for gift cards and those are their Christmas presents!

It actually was never told to me until I turned down the one with a charge. I was part of the wamu/chase switchover, the ONLY reason I was talking about debit cards was b/c I needed mine replaced, I never got any info on any rewards program until she started talking about the $25 one (which wasn't a disney one at the time).

So for me, at that branch, it was indeed hidden, until after I turned down the other.

The rewards stuff that is now all over their website was NOT there before, at least, not for those of us in the changeover.

All that said, how times have changed! We actually just signed up for the disney rewards debit card the other day. I realized that we're paying our credit union $25 to enroll in their credit card rewards program, and since we're not going to be using that card anymore (once we get to the the redemption level to get a $50 gc) and we're not going to be enrolled in their rewards program, that we weren't 100% opposed to paying to get rewards.

And since we have to keep this account open until we're done with our Chase car loan, we figured we might as well get something for it. Since there's the $25 disney dollars after the first 5 transactions, even if all we "get" is a cuter card, I'm cool with that.

And their info says that you earn the rewards on transactions that you do NOT use the PIN for...so even though it's a debit card, seems you don't earn rewards on actual "debit" transactions. Little confusing! :)

Why not just use the Disney Visa and pay it off every month? That's what I do!

This is absolutely what I do. I keep hearing about people having their credit limits reduced, but I haven't had that happen.

I have been very happy with my Disney Chase Rewards Card. When it was lost, they overnighted another card to me. This isn't what happened when my daughter lost her card with another bank.

Well I am rebuilding my credit and have bought a house but was denied approval on the credit card

We bank with Capital One and they have been offering a Free Rewards program since last year. We signed up and have earned over 20K points so far. It doesn't matter if you choose debit or credit. You get points (no limit) each time you use it. I also get points for recurring drafts, direct deposits, and for using the ATM. We have one about a mile away so it's very easy. I get the the cash back option. I could earn more but we don't have many bills.

I know that this is a thread revived from last year, but I'm just wondering from those of you that have had these cards for awhile now...how have you made out on your rewards? We have a Chase Debit and are enrolled in their basic rewards program right now, but I'm thinking of switching. We use our debit card for EVERYTHING...we don't have credit cards, and hardly ever carry cash, so that's our primary method of payment. Would love to hear if you think this is worth it...

It's definitely worth it to me! Like you, I use my debit card for pretty much everything. I have $63 in rewards so far this year. Since it's only a $25 annual fee, it's worth it to me financially. But even if it weren't... every time I pull Mickey and his pals' smiling faces on my card from my wallet, it makes me grin from ear to ear. And that alone is worth the annual fee to me. :goodvibes

I know what your saying Gina, I just wonder if I would earn more under chase freedom debit

Hi All I work for Chase and have for 10 years, I went into a branch on saturday to get my debit card replaced because I use it too much and it was breaking in half. When I asked about the Disney rewards debit card the banker talked me out of it and told me it was most valuable for people who go multiple times a year or those that live in Florida..so he convinced me to go with the Freedom card..still earning rewards points but I can then redeem them for cash back OR gift cards and merchandise. I was really wanting it more to have Mickey and Minnie on my card, but I guess I will have to live without it.

Ironic this pops up today..:)

I was on the phone with one of my banks today regarding another matter and the customer service rep reminded me that my current debit card from that particular bank would expire soon and asked me if I wanted the regular debit card or the rewards card.. Believe me - I asked her every single question a person possibly could.. (I can still hear my late father saying to me, "There are no free lunches in this world.." - LOL)

In the end I decided to go with the rewards card for several reasons..

No fee for the first year - $20 per year after, IF I choose to keep it..
Rewards for debits OR CC purchases - just different amounts depending on which you use..

Rewards points are good for 4 years..

One of the places that I can get cash cards for is Amazon - and I do a TON of shopping there..:thumbsup2

There was a very significant number of points given up front - for signing on - and some very, very high points for the first 3 months that I use it..

So - I'll give it a try and see if I like it.. If not, I'll dump it at the end of the year..:goodvibes

I'm pretty sure that the Chase reps are getting bonuses of some sort right now for pushing the Freedom card.:rolleyes1 We have the Disney debit card and have earned about $140 in the last year. This includes the initial $25 credit and what we have earned with everyday spending. I :lovestruc having Mickey and the gang on my debit card.
