Hi all,
I heard today, from a higher-up at Chase, that they are going to be rolling out the Disney Rewards for DEBIT card purchases!!:banana:

I'm SOOOOOO excited I cannot believe it! She said around August 12th is when you can sign up. $1 in Disney dollars for ever $200 in purchases (half as much as Disney Visa). $25 annual fee, and character pics on the cards.

I cannot wait!! Just wanted to share~!

Edited to add, I signed up for my Disney debit rewards account TODAY and am so excited!!! The $25 fee is returned on your Disney Rewards card, which can be combined with the current Disney rewards Visa card if you have one! I'm so pumped, can't wait to see my new cards (2 accounts)!

So, if my math is right...you would have to "spend" $5000 just to cover the cost of the annual fee. If you run all your expenses to your debit card that could be worthwhile. But, if you have a Disney Visa, that's still the better deal.

Just want to add that with regular rewards card- no annual fee and 1 point for every dollar spent and one of the options is Disney world tickets as a reward.

So you have to spend $5000 on the card before you start earning any rewards. I put about $2000 a month on my debit card, so I'd earn about $95 in rewards. Do they put a limit on it? I know I can switch my mortgage payment to my debit card (not a credit card).

$25 fee to have a DEBIT card? No thanks Chase!

I don't think I will switch. Right now we get 4x $1.00 for every dollar we spend. To cut that in half and then pay a fee untop of that wouldn't work for us.

I have a Chase checking account w/a debit card and I also have the Chase Disney Visa. One thing that is really starting to bother me about Chase is all the sales pitches! Last week I had to go into my local branch because I de-magnetized my debit card so I had to order a new one. While I was in there the rep tried to get me to sign up for their debit rewards program for $25/year. I told him "no thanks" and he looked at me like I was crazy and started crunching numbers to show me what a deal it was. Um, I said "no thanks". Heck, they even try to promote things while you are at the drive-thru..."Why don't you come in and sign up for [insert promotion here]".

I'll stick to my no annual fee Disney Visa reward card.

I also have the Disney Visa, but I use my debit card MUCH more and with NO interest. I personally get my $25 annual fee waived on the checking account I hold, so not a big deal for me. On top of that I believe that you get that $25 back in Disney dollars, will post when I can confirm tomorrow.

Since my husband is self employed, we run all expenses through the checking account (which we will change to the Disney rewards card) which will easily add up to over $10-25k per month.

As far as maximums, that was not verified at the time, they are going to let me know...I would assume that there are, but I sure hope there isn't. There are many reward programs out there that work differently for different folks, this program will work brilliantly for us!

The Disney Visa has a max of $750 reward dollars annually which we regularly max out early in the year. If they don't limit the rewards this would be awesome especially if you can pay your mortgage or other bills to add to the balance. Even with maximums, this will add to our Disney Visa rewards, and pay for a large part of my Disney addiction..lol

Even if I had to pay the $25 annual fee, I still would. Twenty five bucks or 2 dollars a month (ish) doesn't bother me, I would rather have immediate rewards for what I spend most of my money on then other reward programs...just my .02

I have no problem with the card itself but I was just thinking that $200 for $1 Disney Dollar is a lot...I wait to see the promo on the card and hope that it's a better deal. I will probably go fofr it!

I worked at chase for 3 years and let me tell you we are pushed and pushed to meet quotas for getting people to sign up or sit with a banker. You get in trouble if you dont meet that sales quota it is every bit as high pressure as car sales. Banking shouldnt be that way but that is how Chase is. I cannot even count how many times we are told during the day that we should be asking every person to meet with a banker....

Exactly. The employees probably really wish they didn't have to "sell" you as much as they do, but it's required by Chase.

I've worked for them previously as well.... it's sell, sell, sell to them... but honestly, they're good products. I left Chase and went to another bank closer to home and kept ALL of our accounts with Chase (except for 1 lone account at ING) and have our mortgage, brokerage, etc. with them.

They got rid of the max Disney Dollars awhile back, there is no limit anymore.

That said, I'll stick to just using my Disney Visa. I rarely use my Debit Card and it seems as though the Leisure Rewards (also a $25 fee/year) will earn you back CASH quicker than this will earn you Disney "cash"...

Wonder how many people Chase "pushed" into signing up for credit cards and other products and has now CUT their limits and RAISED their rates. I'm staying far away from Chase! I refuse to PAY to earn a reward!

If you sign up just make sure you read ALL the find print!

Can they raise the fee at any time? Can they change the earning formula at any time? Be CAREFUL!

That is what I was thinking as well......:thumbsup2

No thanks Chase

So, if my math is right...you would have to "spend" $5000 just to cover the cost of the annual fee. If you run all your expenses to your debit card that could be worthwhile. But, if you have a Disney Visa, that's still the better deal.

I'm confused. I have a debit card with my bank and when I swipe it, the amount comes out of my checking acct with that bank.

Are they going to do the same thing? You set up your Disney debit with your bank acct but when you swipe the card it is "linked" to your bank acct and you earn rewards?

Please explain - It's early and I'm only on cup 2 of my coffee.

Thanks - Diane:surfweb:

So to get 50 reward dollars, you'd spend 5000.00 on your Visa, OR 15,000.00 on your debit card. (yes, 10,000.00 for the remaining 11 months).

Still seems like Visa is the way to go if you can pay it at the end of each month.

The card is a debit card, but to earn the rewards it needs to be processed as a credit transaction. The amount, regardless of which transaction you choose, is immediately deducted from your checking account.

When you check out or use your card, they usually ask "debit" or "credit" you must select "credit" to accumulate reward dollars.

Also, for those equating "equalling out" the amount to spend to recoup the annual fee, you do get that initial fee returned to you in Disney Dollars with first direct deposit or 5 purchases using the card. And if you don't use your card frequently enough to accumulate the rewards, it may not be the card for you.

I've read several negative comments about Chase bank on these boards, and I have never had any issue with them. Quite the contrary, I LOVE Chase and wouldn't switch for the world! My mortgage is/was with WaMu and the changover has been totally effortless and didn't notice any difference in treatment. Just my .02

I never use my debit card, so it won't do me much good, but this is a great way for those that can't or won't use CC's and rely on cash and debit to earn some points.

I have to say, I just switched to Chase for my banking (I've had a credit card with them for years though, United Airlines Visa) and so far they've been great. I understand why many of you want to see them implode though, the way they've been closing accounts and slashing credit limits.

But so far I've had no problems what so ever with them on the banking end, and on the credit card end they detected that my account # had been stolen, notified me, canceled my cards and sent me new ones all in less than 7 days. And of course I wasn't responsible for the fraudulent charges.

I have to say, I'm going to stick it out with Chase.
