Chase Southwest Visa Bonus Point Question

I asked this question in another thread (Chase SW CC - is there a catch?) but haven't gotten any replies, so I thought I'd ask in a new thread.

For anyone that has gotten the offer of 50,000 bonus points for signing up for the Chase Southwest Visa -- can those bonus points be used to purchase gift cards from the Southwest "more rewards" site?

The offer states "get 50,000 bonus points good for 2 free flights" then clarifies this with sample air fares and approximate costs. But in the envelope is a flyer telling of other uses for points - international flights, gift cards, etc. Can't figure out if we could use the bonus points for gift cards or if only points earned by using the card can be used for these other perks.

Thank you - seems like a great deal! We could book a RT flight for DH & I and have enough left to buy enough gift cards to basically offset the annual cost.

Are you sure it's still 2 flights and 50,000 pts. All I found was that deal expired and replaced with 1 flight and 25,000pts.

We each got an offer good thru 8/31 for 50,000 points + 3,000 on anniversary (not free flights & points - just 50,000 points that can buy 2 rt's or more, depending on cost of flights).
