We are not going to Disney until next Dec but I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten a good airfare rate from Charlotte NC to Orlando. We will be moving to Charlotte in September and we are trying to decide between driving or flying.

Thanks

US Air has some pretty good rates, and excellent service several times a day from Charlotte.

I'm sure that Safetymom will chime in at some point as I believe that she's a US Air fan! :goodvibes

There must be a dozen flights a day from Charlotte to Orlando, and I've seen fares as low as $98 r/t.

Charlotte is one of the most expensive cities to fly from. They are dominated by USAirways so you won't find many deals.

Charlotte is a great airport though, it is a hub city so you will find lots of flights. Also lots of great restaurants and the airport has lots of rocking chairs to spend some time in.

US Airways: Fares under study
Goal is 'reasonable fares' for Charlotte

US Airways is studying changes to its pricing that should lead to "reasonable fares" out of Charlotte, the airline's chief executive said at a breakfast hosted by the Charlotte Chamber this morning.

In response to an audience question about when Charlotte fliers might see more competitive fares, Chief Executive Doug Parker said: "Oh, they're competitive. They're just higher than you'd like them to be."

I swear that they pump some type of pixie dust into the air in the Charlotte airport. All of the employees seem to take happy pills, even at 5am. It's just a little odd.

I even had a TSA agent hug me there.... Be prepared that they are a VERY happy bunch and their one goal seems to make travel easier.

Now if they could only train other airports to be like CLT..... :teeth:

and we typically drive. We'll take one travel day at the beginning and end of our WDW vacation.

Drive down day - we'll leave early in the morning. Drive takes about 9-10 hours. We'll check into a "cheapie" motel and relax and have a nice meal.

On WDW check-in day, we'll wake up early, check out of our cheapie at 7:00 am and go to our WDW resort where we'll check in and get our park tix. If our room isn't ready yet, we leave the luggage in the car and head to a park. After lunch, we head back to the resort and get into our room for a nap, swim, and/or rest.

On WDW check-out day, we are leisurely with our check out. Then we head to DTD for lunch and shopping, then get back on the road north. One year we even took a side trip to Savannah on our way home. That was nice.

If you really want to fly, I would suggest looking at rates out of Greensboro as an alternative to Charlotte. (If you will be living north of Charlotte, then Greensboro will be a very reasonable drive) We live in Piedmont NC and find that it is convenient to drive (9+ hours)
