How can people get away with wanting to charge too much money for vehicle repairs???
I would consider this to be a minor repair.
I have a '98 Dodge mini van and have had basically no problems with mechanically. For the past week or so I have been having problems with my ignition lock. Occasionally I couldn't get the key to turn in order to start it. I menitoned it to DH but he has been working like crazy latley hadn't had time to look at it.
Yesterday afternoon we get in the van to go to family bowling league and it wouldn't turn over. And we had just been out shopping all morning in it and everything is fine. And unlike the other times when it eventually turned over, it never did yesterday.
So I call a locksmith to see how much to repair the lock and they say it will be around $225 approx. And I would have had to wait until today.
Well today DH looks at it. He takes the dash apart and pulls the ignition lock out and sees that the pin in the ignition lock is broke. He calls the locksmith to see how much to repair the lock and they say....$225!!...still!!!!!
HOLD THE PHONE!!!!! WHAT????? DH took the dash apart and the lock out. All they have to do is repair the lock and DH will put it back in!!!
DH headed to Pep Boys and bought a new ignition lock for ....$14.99!!!!
And he's almost done putting the dash board back together.
$14.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know we all need to make a buck. But when you take out most of the labor of the job how can one charge the same amount of $$$ for the repair?????
Give me a break!!!!!
Ok I fell much better now!!!!!
