Charging Privileges

You can use the gift cards at counters as well. :)

Wow, was that at locations other than the gift shops? I've known Disney gift cards could be used in the shops onboard, but nowhere else (theater snacks, arcade, room service, bars, spa, etc.).

My kids have used them at the shops. But they don't have a need to use them elsewhere like the arcade, etc.

Perhaps I should have been more clear to say you can use them at the counter in the shops. :)

I have never thought about that, but I don't think so.
I always just tell mine how much they can spend and make sure they bring me the receipts. :)

Or you could always give them a Disney gift card instead and once it is gone, it is gone.

Do you just associate the gift card with their KTTW at guest services?

good to know.....has that changed or was I always just plain wrong? again.

It should work in theory. They would be considered a "cash paying guest" However, the concern is still the same. It isn't like a debit account where if you spend your gift card, they decline your card. You can still keep charging to it to your account and youll get a letter in your stateroom telling you that your account needs to be paid before you leave the ship. So your kid could have blown through the $50 gift card and another $200 on top of that.
