Anyone know if you can pre-pay some of your charges? I dont like carrying cash in the parks and I have a few hundred on gift cards. Id like to pay a few hundred upon checking in can I do this? TIA!!!

We just charged everything to our room, kept track of how much we spent and paid it every few days. It worked out great! It made things super easy, but we were very diligent to keep track of how much we charged. I think it could make it very easy to overspend. Have a great trip!

Yes, I have put Rewards card dollars and gift cards onto my room account at check-in and started off with a credit balance. They will definitely take your money in advance.

Awesome thank you! I love charging it to my room so I dont have to worry about losing cash or forgetting to bring my debit or credit card with me but I always forget to check the balance as the trip goes on. Id rather just put the few hundred on it and then the rest can be charged to my card and I wont have to think about it while having fun! Thanks again for the imput!!!!

We prefer to charge everything to the room, you can stop at the desk anytime to get a print out, I suggest that you do it daily it is much easier to get it handled right away, we only had a problem once, and were double charged for somethings we bought in one of the parks, They had it fixed the next morning.

You could use your in room safe to keep the cards in so that you don't have them all with you at once. I don't know how long it would take to get your money refunded if you had a balance left over,, NOT likely...:rotfl: but you never know...

Have a magical time

At POFQ in April they wouldn't take my gift cards at check in, instead told me to stop by the concierge desk the day before check out to have them applied, which we did. I guess it depends on how helpful your CM is at check in...

When we went in dec. 2011 we pre paid with a $1000 disney gift card.

At check in I asked them to add the gift card to our room balances. All week we charged everything we needed on our room key and at the end of the 10 days we owed $24. It worked out perfect.

This is great to know! I have bought a whole bunch of gift cards while I get 5% on my Disney Visa, and was hoping to just use them to pay off our daily charges. So much easier to just apply then at check in! Thank you!

I had the same problem at POFQ.

For the past couple years we just put $500 cash on our room at the check in and at the end our your trip they refund what we have left over in cash. This way I do not have to worry about carrying cash or having it in the room.

Hmmmmm, I was wondering about gift cards at check in. I'm also staying at POFQ. Hopefully I won't have trouble at check in with mine.

Maybe it depends on the CM and what their understanding of the policy is?? On my trip in April to BWV, I tried putting all my gift cards on my account when I checked in (just to kind of get rid of them :)), and the CM said that I couldn't do it that way. She said that I could come in occasionally during my stay and apply gift cards up to the amount of my balance at the time, but not with a credit showing.

I thought it was a little odd, since I was staying 9 days and knew I'd spend more than what I had in gift cards. But it wasn't really a big deal. I just came back later in my stay and applied the cards.

If you are paying cash at check-in do you also need to leave credit card information with the desk?

No.... by putting the $500 on the room that limits the amount I can charge to the room and keeps us on budget. I usually call the front desk 1/2 way through to see how we are doing. For the most part we put tips and a few souvenirs on the room.

Thank you for the info!

The impression that I got from the CM's that helped me do this last is that it's easier somehow to do it if you have already charged SOMETHING. But, once you have charged something, they can add as many GC's as you have.

Personally, though, I wanted to end up a little under rather than over so I didn't need to worry about refunds in any way.

So basically, I hit the front desk on day 2 (or after paying for dinner on day 1 or something) and put all my GC's on my KTTW card.

Oh good to know ill just add the gift cards on the second day once I have bought a few things!!

I usually deposit $1500 at the front desk and then charge everything to the room. They will give you a printout of everything you bought, and its fun to go back and look at it.
