I am panicking. I just noticed that tomorrow is my cc closing date, and I need to charge a bit more to get my rewards. Will purchases I make tomorrow count toward that?

I have a chase card and in my experience chase will post the charge to your account the same day the merchant does. However, the merchant doesnt always post the charge the same day you make a purchase. For example, you go online and make a purchase today at Amazon. But Amazon wont post your charge until tomorrow.

Depends. Fast food places are hit or miss. Sometimes they post the charge the same day it was made, sometimes it will be the next day. Gas stations usually post the same day. I don't pay attention to the other places, but I notice those when I am making out expense reports.

Thank you both! So if today is my closing date, should I have made all purchases before today, or would a purchase today be fine, as long as the merchant posts it today?

It depends on the merchant, as people have posted above.
You should have made all your purchases 1-2 days prior to the closing date.

Odds are not in your favor but maybe you’ll get lucky. Charges can take 1-3 days to post on average across issuers. Also, fwiw some online purchases won’t charge until the merchant actually ships an item so in those cases it’s even longer.

Charges post when merchants close their credit card batch, they'll show pending until then. Were you able to make charges? And did they post in time? Hope you were able to make it work!
