Hi, :wave2:

Just a quick question that maybe you can help with.. both my phone and camera have chargers, is there an adaptor so that I can use my chargers in the US?

Thanks in advance..Moira.

Hi Moira,

You'll probably find that both your chargers will work with the US voltage. Check them carefully and you will see something written on them like "Input voltage 100V - 240V". If they have this then they'll work fine in the US, you'll only need the usual UK/Irish to USA travel adaptor so that it fits their sockets.

In the very unlikely circumstances that your chargers say something like "Input 200V-240V" then these will work in Europe only. In that case, you'd be probably be cheapest to buy new chargers suitable for the US - try eBay.

Basic adapters work with just about anything, only problem I have ever come across is a Motorola V220 phone, we all had the same phone and all 3 were the same, none would charge. When I returned home I rang Motorola, it is/was a common problem with this model. For our next trip I bought an original US charger with free car charger off ebay cost me 99c plus $4 P&P to UK. Will be taking it with us again this week.

I often find it useful to take a trailing multisocket (you know, four sockets in a single strip, a bit of wire and a plug) when I go on holiday. I plug the trailing socket into my plug adapter, and plug that into the wall. Thus I have four UK sockets to use, rather than just one.

Nice one Alan!

Well, if youdon't find any before you travel, you will undoubtedly get them from Dixons at the airport. Expect to pay around £5

Strange! Me and my son have V220 phones and had no problem with them. However, a good option is to take a car charger - 12v is the same here and there :thumbsup2

Hi David
Its about 2 years ago so I wonder if they have solved the problem or if it was just a bad batch of phones they produced, I don't know. I got rid of mine and changed to Sony Ericsson, call quality is far superior, I had nothing but dropped calls and background noise with V220. DW & DS both still use theirs.
