Was charged $21 by BCV for a handling fee of 50lbs of groceries delieverd by netgrocer 2 days prior to our arrival. (ordered water.....).

When I questioned the charge I was advised BC, YC, BCV has always charged for the storage/delivery of non-luggage items. I said VWL doesn't charge for this service. I likely could have had the charges reversed if I pursued it, but wasn't worth the effort and they didn't offer a credit immediately. I was just very surprised to see the charge.

They did say the don't charge for luggage that is shipped and is obviously luggage. I said "you mean I can go to the post office and ship a duffle bag without putting it in a box???", and they said "yes!" ... sounded strange.

I supposed if the box didn't say netgrocer all over it there may not have been a charge ....

Anyone else have anything like this happen or not happen?

Last August we checked into the BCV for a 7 night stay. We had shipped down two boxes that arrived the Friday before our Sunday checkin. The boxes combined were over 50 lbs. There was no charge for storage or receiving the items.

It seems as if, iif this is the policy, it is enforced haphazzardly at best.

There have been posts about this before, it does seem to be inconsistent. I think the charge was designed for people shipping boxes for conventions, then charging it back to their company. YC/BC has a convention center, WL does not. I would pursue it, tell them it was for your personal use.

Just my opinion- But since it arrived two days prior to your arrival, I find the fee to be fair.
It sounded like you chose to handle it well, since you did not make a stink about it.

Since I'm waiting on our purchase to close and make our first trip "home", what do people mostly do for groceries if they don't have a car available?

Sounds like it's either

1. Netgrocer - if so is BC the only resort that charges "handling fee"

2. Arrange for a 30 minute stop via the FL Tours shuttle ( is this enough time?, would be fun hauling the groceries to your room)

3. Another way?

Thanks,
Peace

We are going in August and aren't renting a car (although we usually do); we plan on using a towncar service with a 30-minute grocery stop. We have our list all made out, which is sorted by areas such as freezer, dairy, etc. to make it quicker to find items! My husband and I also plan to split up the list between the two of us, hoping this will get us out of there faster.

One can also make limited food purchases at the DVC resort gift shop. I realize the selection is limited & the prices are more expensive than most of us pay at home, but personally I look at it like I'm on vacation "). Just a thought ...
