Characterpalooza

I want to stress that NO character listed in this thread is a lock to appear. There is a certain subset of characters that the Palooza characters are drawn from each day, but it is impossible for the average guest (or even CM) to know which ones will appear until they actually show up onstage.

Furthermore, Palooza itself is not acknowledged in any way by any Disney media that I know of (for example, it does not appear in the daily Times Guide for DHS). This means that though very rare, it may not occur on a particular day per Kenny's schedule.

:thumbsup2 Most CMs won't even acknowledge or admit that it's going to happen.

It's because you have to be polite or he won't stop for you. ;) If you say, "Please, Captain Hook, can we get a picture with you?" he will stop for you immediately. Pleases and thank yous go far with him.

We will definitely have to remember this and hope he is there when we go. I have some little boys with hooks on everyday playing Captain Hook!

I'm sorry, I thought I read somewhere sometimes the second set changes up a couple of the characters. Good to know for the future!

I meant to answer this earlier....

There was a time when this was the case, and there were two sets of Palooza characters appearing on a particular day (at different times). However, this was back when Palooza occurred in the Animation Building and I don't think has been the norm since moving outside to Streets of America last year.

Why is it so unofficial? Is it like Epcot where it is a training session for new CM's? I've heard about it for awhile but for some reason still have not done it. We have to do it this year.

It is not a training situation. I think it has mostly to do with giving some Fantasmic CMs a little extra to do during their shift, though I am not sure about that.

We've never done this so I look forward to giving it a try in a few short days!!

Thanks for all the info!! :thumbsup2

I believe mesaboy is correct. That's why everyone raves about the interaction with the Palooza characters. One of the few times you can closely interact with show-caliber characters.

The palooza was around originally to serve as a way to fill out the shift for the CMs who were in the parade and Fantasmic, something for them to do between the two shows. However, now it's a way for the Fantasmic shift to last a little longer since there's no longer a parade.

When did it switch to being outside? It used to be in where art of animation is, where Mickey meets? We would go and do Mickey and the Incredibles gang, and then at 5 we enjoyed Character Palooza...are there two now or has this changed?

It changed when Countdown to Fun and Disney Channel Rocks ended. So, a little over a year ago.

Minnie has a larger meeting place in the Animation building, now.

Thank you !!! Glad I saw this thread or we would have been at the wrong place....wrong time.

What times do we see characterpalooza now?

My DHS day is Nov. 5...that is two days before the first MVMCP. Will they have Characterpalooza that day? Also, Fantasmic is scheduled for 6:30 that night, which is not an option on Kenny the Pirate's website...so what time would it be at???? I hope I don't miss out on this, it sounds so neat!

Characterpalooza is never guaranteed but if it were to occur, the earliest would be @ 2:00. It is completely dependent on the Fantasmic schedule and how it fits in with the casting of all the other entertainment shows throughout all the parks.

At character palooza the line does not get cut off. The characters just leave. I did not know this until we were next in line for Max and the handler says. Sorry folks Max gotta go for now. Disappointed grand daughter but we were more prepared the second time

That is very true. I mentioned Palooza in front of two FP CM and they didn't acknowledge my statement in anyway. Also we had a Disney official in between sets who was scanning the exiting crowd of the Stunt Show to give the go for the second set. When he saw us all again waiting he'd joke around, "I don't know what you're all here for. Just another day here at the park!"

It was funny to bump into some people already waiting for the characters. It was sort of a hush hush, "Psst...you here for characterpalooza?"

Awesome experience! We were there on 5/22 at the 4:40 set, and saw Belle, Pocahontas, Jasmine, and a Green Army Man. There was also the Queen of Hearts, Max, and Mary Poppins, but we didn't make it to them.

About 2 weeks ago we saw Snow White's Queen, Pinocchio, genie, meeko & green army guy (queen & Pinocchio were the longest lines). We were there as soon as the characters showed up and stay thru the end.
Max (from goof troop), Milan, chip, dale, Minnie Mouse and Stitch all showed up as well :)

The same characters will be out for each set on a specific day. There is no need to go to more than one Palooza per day unless you want to meet up with a character you missed in the first set.

Also, no Palooza during SWW...SW characters roam the Streets of America.

I'm going to be at HW on the Thursday before a SWW, will there be a palooza?
