Character Mistaken Identity!

About a year ago we were walking through MGM near the Sorcerer's Hat, where they have all the character meet and greets. When my 3 year old son, all of a sudden yelled, "Mommy, look it's Chip and BOB!!". I never laughed so hard in my life. From that day on they have been and forever will be called Chip and BOB!!

We were at Chef Mickey's for dinner one night and Chip came up and kissed my DS on the head. I yelled out "Oh yuck, gopher germs!" Chip started crying and made a big deal about it. We still laugh about it to this day when we see anything Chip and Dale.

When I read the first few words I thought you were going to say you mixed up Chip with Dale. But this is hysterical and had my DH and I laughing!!!!

I was walking past the Castle one day when I heard a big, hairy dad ask his children if they wanted to see the flight of Twinker Bear before the fireworks started.

Silly children....they didn't correct him and say 'Dad, it's Tinkerbell"

Last week during the parade, as the Pinochio float was going by a dad behind me was all excited telling his kids "look, look it's tinkerbell! Maybe she'll fly and sprinkle some pixie dust and the sun will come out!" I didn't have the heart to tell him it was the Blue Fairy.

but it is not disney related, but extreme makeover related. they did a house here in town about 10 minutes roughly where i live. well, they were using school buses to shuttle anyone to the site to view. well, my niece, dd, and I went the first day i was off, and Ty Pennington came out to the site that day. this of course, was awesome to see him in person, and got great pics!
then on Tuesday, I got my dh, also named Ty, ds, dd, and I went to the viewing site. dh, Ty, got on the next bus after us cause there were not enough seats for all 4 of us on the bus i was on. i told him i would meet up with him in a few minutes, (the kids were with me). so, the bus with dh comes and the kids and i are standing by the railing, and without thinking I said "Ty, we are over here!". of course, since i was not thinking about what i just said, everyone out at the site, got very excited cause they thought that Ty Pennington was out at the site again. I felt really bad and apologized for getting everyone excited with thinking that Ty P. was out there.

had to share,

dina  18 days to go!!

I have one worse than calling Mickey "Pooh."

One of my 2 yo's favorite characters is Pooh. However, he can't say Pooh, he says "Poop". And, just my luck, he says it clear as a bell. I can't wait until October when we eat at the Crystal Palace.

March 2004, we were at the 3pm parade at MK, and this man who looked about 40 was with some children and videotaping the parade. He looked all excited, even more so than them. When he saw Beast, he yelled "Look kids, it's the Lion King! Ya know... what's his name? Simba!!!" To which the youngest child, a little girl, replied with a look of horror "That's the Beast, not Simba!" "Oh." And either before that or afterwards, the broomsticks with water pails walked by, and he started hollering to everyone around him "What are they, do ya know? I want to be able to label my video when I get home... they're cacti, right?" By that point, the children got the "I don't know this man," look on their faces. :rotfl: He also called Aurora "Ariel" and I believe he also called Chip and Dale "those funny squirrels." :rotfl2: If only he'd said that to their faces. :rotfl2:

My 5yoa dd remembers everything and I thought for sure that she remembered the difference between Chip and Dale and exactly who they are. Well yesterday we were watching a classic Disney toons dvd and she says "hey momma! look it's Chip and Munk" . I was speachless. I didn't know quite what to say to that one I was so dumbfounded.

When I am working with Cinderella or Aurora, I hear them all. Sometimes when I am at the Norway meal, Belle in her blue dress will be called Alice or Guests think she is a server and ask her for more water. Or they will call her Beauty.
Cinderella has often been called the blue one or once I even heard Snow White!
No one ever knows who Princess Aurora is and I hear all the time Cinderella or Belle or Ariel or Barbie or Rapunzel. I have also heard Alice every now and then too. Once when I was over in France during the flower and garden festival at epcot a lady came up and asked Aurora when the tour started and then got angry at her for not knowing. The greeter had to come up and explain that Aurora is a princess and does not know that kind of information.
Whenever I am friends with Mr. Smee I hear some funny ones too. Grandpa, Doc, Happy, Dopey, Santa Clause... sigh. I just shrug it off and play it up big with the fans who really know who he is.

Phoebus (from Hunchback) was at MGM one day and a Mom told her son "look, it's Hecules!" :rotfl2: The character seemed pretty offended and almost rudely replied back "Actually, I'm Phoebus". It seems like an honest mistake, though. I'm sure a lot of people have no idea who Phoebus is.

Not really mistaken identity but, total "what the heck is this thing?!?!?!"... There was this really werd black/grey gorilla/monkey thing standing at the meet and greet place right inside entrance of MK. Well, Friar Tuck, Robin Hood and Prince John, and this thing were there. We got autographs from all as there very few people in the lines. So, I figure I will be ableto read the name when he signs the kids books, nope. Unreadable. I had to ask the handler "Who is this". Apparently it was someone named "Turk". He told us which movie this character was in but, I can't remember, Tarzan mabye?

Terk is a she, and she's Tarzan's best friend. :)

Congratulations for recognizing the Robin Hood characters though...we've heard a lot of people question who the heck they are! :teeth:

Hey tink22! Thanks for chiming in on this one! I'm sure you've heard it all! ;)

my boys have an autograph from clopin from 3 years ago. I only recently figured out who he is. The same time they got that one they got mulan's autograph, but they didn't know who she was (they were not quite 3-year-olds at the time) and she gave us major attitude about it.

This isn't really mistaken identity, but an incorrect name.

DS has had all the Disneyland Sing along videos. In one of them there is a preview for a Mr Toad movie and they call him by his full name, James Thaddeus Toad. Well, when DS was very yong he picked up on that name and stared talking about Jim Pattia Toe. He named a game that, and it was a common expression he used. I never knew where it came from until one day I was watching the video with him and he pointed and said "Jim Patita Toe!". Then I made the connection...James Thaddeus Toad = Jim Pattia Toe :rotfl:

So to this day, I call Mr Toad, Jim Pattia Toe. I'm sure if people heard me pointing out his picture to DS on Winnie The Pooh, they would have thought I was nuts. :teeth:

I was at Town Square in line for Launchpad McQuack, when a mother said to her child, "Are you excited to see Donald Duck?"
Then 5 minutes later when we were in the line for Darkwing Duck, the SAME mom said "Look at Donald! That was a quick change. You wanna see him again?"

I just turned around with this questionable look on my face as if to ask why every duck apparantly is Donald. ::shrugs::

too cute and nice they're close enough buddies for him to call him"Jim" and not the more formal "James"

I know that Minnie gets called Mickey a lot! And Pluto and Goofy are forever getting mixed up even when Pluto holds out his nametag.

I wasn't there firsthand for this one, but apparently one time Eeyore and Pooh were in UK and this kid came up and said "Look, it's Donkey! But why is Shrek yellow??"
LOL

Once an older lady was carrying her baby grandchild up to Pooh. She kept saying "Kiss Tigger's nose!" The child's mother said to her, "Mom, that's Pooh!"

People will say "it's Chip'n'Dale" as if it's one word even if only one munk is there.

Prince John gets called Lion King.

One of Mary Poppin's penguins was out near the castle. A little boy came up to him and enthusiastically showed him a Donald Duck Pez dispenser. Then he said "Isn't this you?"

And yes, characters do sometimes forget who they are for a second! Chip and Dale goof up every once in a while. hehehe. Their personal helpers will sometimes have days in a row in the same location but switching munks. It gets confusing, especially if they are sleepy. Once at Garden Grill, Dale signed a kiddie menu, and the family said "Oh, I thought you were Dale!" Dale nodded that he was Dale, but then looked and uh-oh, he'd signed Chip! Embarrassed, he wrote Dale over it.

Some people know that Chip has the chocolate chip nose...but they think of a brown chocolate chip and then think Dale is Chip!

A few years ago at DL I thought I looked pretty cute in my vibrant sundress and shocking I Love Lucy red hair. While riding the elevator at the Paradise Pier Hotel the woman next to me turned and exclaimed, "Wow! Which character are you!?!?!" Her expression quickly changed to embarrassment when I replied that I wasn't. I felt pretty awkward too! DH still teases me about it every once in a while.

Another time by Space Mountain I was wearing a red and white polka dot skirt, black top and a bow in my hair (please note, I was not wearing ears). A young girl, about 7 yo, came up to me and asked if I was Minnie. I replied no, but I just like wearing the outfit. She then began arguing with me about how I really was Minnie. She gave me one of the meanest looks I have ever recieved in my life when I walked away!!
