Character meals?

I read in a book that there is a character meal at IOA , can't find any info. on their website. Anybody heard of this? Where and how much and is it worth doing? Also, can you bring any food into the parks? Last year we took a small collaspable cooler (6 pack size) into WDW with sandwiches and snacks without a problem wondering if we can do the same at Universal/ Thanks!

There isn't a character meal in the parks. There is a character dinner on Fridays at the Portofino and Saturdays at HRH. There used to be a character lunch in the park.
