Do you think it is a must to do a character meal breakfast before the park opens when the crowds are low? We are planning on Jan 21-25 and would prefer to get to the parks around 9 and eat first then tour...or do you think it is crucial to eat before rope drop and then tour at rope drop?

I think it depends on what park, but in general if you scheduled one for 9a or 930a and got to the park of your choice by 10a-1030a in low season you should be fine.

I found find a character breakfast close to the park ( or in the park ) that you plan to visit that day:

Near MK I recommend 1900 Park Fare or Ohana's.

Near Epcot - Cape May

AK has one with Donald that is now in the Tusker House, I think.
