Has anyone done a character meal solo?
I really enjoy them, but have never gone by myself and wondered if it would be uncomfortable.
If you did go, did you do the buffet or family style dining?
Thanks for any input :flower3:

i kind of [really] want to do a character dining. but i dont know who i would ask to take pictures! i love the characters, even at the age of 22

I've done character meals solo, and while I've never had my picture taken with the characters (although I have taken pictures of the characters), I'm sure someone at a neighboring table would be happy to do it, or if there's a server nearby I'm sure they'd be happy to do it.

I've not done a solo character meal, although I still might try for one when I go in November. I don't think it would be a problem having one of the people at a neighboring table, or even a server, take the picture for you. I know that when I went to a character meal last year with my parents and sister, I took many of the pictures for the table next to us so that they could be in the picture together. This would be no different than for someone solo.

I just got back yesterday, and I (a 32 year old single guy) did CP solo on Saturday. It was great fun and the characters were great! The handlers should always be around and were more than willing to take pictures for me, as well as the couple at the table next to me (who, were also without kids, so it's not just me :p).

If you want to do it, go for it. You'll have a great time.

I finally solved that problem. I hold out my camera to the character and tell them "I'd love to have my picture taken with you. Do you know anyone who'd take our picture?" Often the characters know a server or handler to ask. A couple times the character's just gone over to a neighboring table and motioned for them to come over and take our picture. People always really get a kick out of being "asked" by a character to do something.
Even though I travel solo often, it was about 8 trips before I dared try solo character dining. Cape May was a good place to start. With lots of convention traffic around, I've usually seen other solos there.

Thank you everybody for your responses! I will take a look at what's available for my trip.
