Our party will be my dad and mom (in their 60's), me (25) and my boyfriend (26).

We'll be checking into our hotel on Monday, but will not be in the parks until Tuesday. I thought a character meal would be fun for our first day. Providing that we cannot go to one IN the park that day/evening, I have two questions:

1. Do you think we'll feel out of place or dorky at a character meal since there are no children in our party?

2. What character meal would you recommend (we are staying off-site, but would not mind going to one of the on-property hotels)?

3. How much do they cost (it will be for dinner probably)?

There are plenty of adult only groups at the character meals!
Goofy's kitchen at DLH is the only one serving dinner except for Ariels at DCA and that is princess theamed.

Last time we ate at Goofy's the characters spent more time with the adult groups , not cool when your with kids  but you won't be out of place at all!

Sorry I can't remeber the cost but I am sure some one else knows!

For dinner outside the parks, it's only Goofy's at DLH.

And I think the only in-park dinner is Ariel's, with the princesses, over at DCA.

Check out allears.net or dlresortinfo for menus and prices; we don't do the dinners so I don't know the prices!

As to whether or not it would be lame or dorky for you, I just don't know. :)

My mom and I are both adults and we LOVE the character meals. I do not feel out of place or dorky when I am there. The characters still come up to our table and take pictures with us. They will spend more time at your table if you want them to. I have seen characters sit down with a table full of adults, they do not treat you any differently. I have been to two characters meals; Goofy's Kitchen for dinner, and Lilo and Stitch at PCH Grill for breakfast. I had a lot of fun at Goofy's Kitchen and highly recommend it. It is $31 for adults to eat at the buffet. You also get a really cute button when you go to a character meal. Even though there won't be any children at your table, you'll still have tons of fun.

The characters are really great with adults. We have gone to lots without kids and had a ton of fun. In fact, I somehow always manage to get "stolen" from DH by characters.

My dh and I did Ariel's years ago before it was the princesses. We felt a little out of place. Now that we have a toddler they are fun!

I don't think they are worth the money if you don't have kids unless you are really into the characters.

I'm thinking of doing it just so I can get some pics of my boyfriend with the characters. For some reason, that is hilarious to me!

My mom and dad are kind of shy with the characters, but I think they'd probably have fun.

I think I'll do Goofy's Kitchen. I've actually always wanted to look around the DLH because I've never been there. Maybe that will give us a chance to see the beautiful waterfall walkway/gardens they have there.

As always, thanks everyone for your superior Disney knowledge!

I don't think it will be weird for you at all! I think they are lots of fun! And goofys kitchen has adults kids and mixed.... Its in the hotel so lots of people go there! I also go the first night we get there... I think it brings to the fact hey were at disneyland and gets us all exctied! I go with kids (since i got them :lmao: ) But i would go by myself if i didn't!

The food at Goofy's for dinner is really good. There is a wide variety to please everyone. It is dimly lit which gives it good ambience compared to most character meals. They offer adult beverages and a AAA discount if you have it.

Goofy's was really fun. My kids loved it. However, my hubby was not to crazy about it. Every hour they dance the Macarena, fairly loudly. Then once an hour Goofy comes out and drops a plate full of plastic cooking things and him and the kids march around the buffet area banging on pots and pans while music plays. My kids were a bit overwhelmed with all of this and my hubby was a bit annoyed. We lucked out with a table near the back where the character entrance was. We saw a lot of them, but not everyone stopped at our table. The food was great for my little ones (corn dogs, pizza, deserts etc.) but only had a small section for more adult fare.

I would do a meal with just my husband... but I would do a breakfast where I could order from a menu.

Goofy's was great with kids, but I would not go there with just adults. But that's just me :upsidedow

DBF and I do character meals every trip and it's just us 2 and we have a blast! The interaction is always great and they play around with you and everything. I think you will have fun. Plus the food is really good!

Have a great time!!

Isn't there just a little bit of kid in ALL of us? If you are into going to DLR and you don't have kids, then there is a bit of kid in you. So go ahead and have a character meal. And if anyone feels shy just remember: You are with your parents, in their eyes you will always be their "kid". lol
