we will be at MK on oct 31 for mnsshp and wanted to take the kids to a character dinner. we went to crystal palace back in 04 and they had a blast, how is liberty tavern compared to cinderella's castle.are they both character dinners??we will probably hit one of them around 5 or 6 pm. thanks for any input

:confused3 Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer have characters at their location effective January 5, 2009. So, if this is something you always wanted to do, I recommend getting on the phone and making an ADR. Because, it will be a character-less meal next year for the same price.:sad2:

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Consider taking the monorail to the Contemporary and going Chef Mickey's. Or to the GF and doing dinner with Cinderella and Friends.

There isn't a character dinner inside the castle. I believe you can still meet Cinderella in the lobby area before dinner but there is only a brief show with the Fairy Godmother and the mice during dinner - they do not visit guests at their table.

I second the idea of going to either Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary or Cinderella's Gala Feast at the Grand Floridian if it's a character dinner you're after and the LTT and CP are fully booked already. ;)

Good luck getting your Ressies.

Why are they discontinuing the characters at LTT?

Oh no. I did not know this. Thanks. :sad1:

I just tried to get reservations for MK for the MNSSHP on Sept 12, and everything was booked. So you might want to try ASAP for Halloween day. I imagine that is a busy night.

Liberty Tree is one of my family's favorite meals. It is more like a Thanksgiving type of dinner and since we go at Christmas it's great. Also, since it will not be having characters after the first of the year 2009 I think it's a good time to try it if you can get a reservation.

Good luck!

Chef Mickey's is a good option. You can hop on the monorail from the main parking lot, then after supper it's only a 7 minute walk to the MK (or you can take the monorail but you go all the way around the lake -- when we stayed at the Contemporary we tried both ways a few times and walking was always faster).

The other nice thing about Chef Mickey's is that it is a buffet so you can start eating right away and the kids have a lot to pick from.

I've moved this thread to our Restaurants board. Perhaps you'll get more input here. :)

We have been to the Cinderella character meal in the castle. My daughter met 4 princesses and Alice from Woncerland but neither of us cared for the food. This character experience is 2 points on the meal plan. We also went to the Cinderella character meal at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian which she enjoyed just as much (4 characters). She really enjoyed meeting prince charming, in fact she was speachless (never happened before or since). Our family enjoyed the food at the buffett (although I'm not a buffett fan in general). There were a good variety of dishes (including prime rib-my husbands favorite). It's also nice with small children not to have to wait for the food. This experience was 1 point on the meal plan. No contest- my husband even suggested visiting this one again on our next trip.:hippie: :thumbsup2

They are all great! You can't go wrong with any in my opinion.

I hate to sound like a downer, but if you really want to do a character meal in or around the MK on a MNSSHP night, you need to get on the phone right now and just ask if they have ANYTHING available. You will be hard pressed to get an ARD at all, let alone a character meal. I truly hope you get a little magic and something opens up for your trip.

thanks everyone.. i called tonight , and as was predicted everything is booked. the rep i talked to advised me to keep trying because cancelations come in . we will keep our fingers crossed.

Why are they discontinuing the characters at LTT?

:confused3 I don't know. I called WDW this morning to add some ADRs for our upcoming trips. I made one for LTT (character dinner) and Garden Grill (character lunch). Since, both will be discontinued by years end. The CM confirmed both that LTT will no longer have characters and GG will be closed for lunch. :sad2: She didn't give me a reason. But, the CM said that MK will need to have another character meal somewhere else in the park. :rolleyes1 We'll see . . .

Sorry not more help.
