What is your favorite character breakfast and why? Who has the best food, ambiance, character interaction? I have two boys and this would be our first character breakfast at Disneyland.

Minnie and Friends in the park
1) its in the park.
2) nice variety of characters.
3) its in the park, no need to take time to walk back and forth to another location.

Food is decent. Nothing fancy, but good quality and fresh. I also like many items are actually behind a counter and plated by a cast member. I have issue with other patrons possibly touching my food. I've seen too many unsupervised kids in buffet lines, touching things and putting them back.
Did I mention its in the park? LOL

We like to go around 10-10:30. We play for a couple hours, and work up an appetite. Then, enjoy a long meal. We typically skip lunch that day.

there are a ton of threads about this, including threads about each individual one - use the search box and you'll get tons of info that way!

I was there recently and had 2 very positive character breakfast experiences:

1.) Minnie's at the Plaza (in DL park): TONS of characters and great interaction, and it was very nice to be seated outside. However, I thought the food pretty terrible. I barely ate, everything seemed thrown together and the overall feel of the buffet was not very clean. But I would recommend this for character interaction and ambiance. I think we saw 9 characters total!

2.) Mickey's Surf's Up (in Pacific Pier hotel): GREAT food, especially compared to the food mentioned above. Very good character interaction. I think we saw Mickey (photo at the beginning but does not wander), Pluto, Stitch & Minnie but I can't completely remember. Stitch was really fun! We had 2 visits from each and it wasn't too crazy in there. I slightly preferred this experience, mostly because the food was actually good.

We did mickys surfs up last week. Good was great and characters were awesome. We saw the same as the previous poster and also Daisy

Sorry didn't know I couldn't ask a question that has already been posted. I haven't logged into disboards in a long time and have forgotten how to get around it.

Thank you so much for your response. I will definitely keep all that in mind. Have a great day!

I don't have any children it is just my Husband and myself but we love to do the character breakfasts. Minnie's at the Plaza Inn has the most characters and you are inside the park already, but...

Since you have boys I would be aware that when you arrive you are first taken to get your photo taken with Minnie Mouse and you receive a pink button with Minnie on it. The whole event feels very girly to me, fun but definitely more girly.

My husband LOVES Storyteller's Café. The characters there are the two bears from Brother Bear, chip and dale, and Meeko.

They have a "park ranger" who comes around and has all the kids do a parade around the restaurant from time to time.

We have had great interactions with the characters and the characters there tend to tease and joke with each other a lot. They are very goofy! Every time we have been there they have shoved jelly packets down each other's necks and stolen people's food, etc. It was a blast to watch. Although there are far less characters you do get a lot more time with each of them.

It also puts you very close to the entrance to DCA by Grizzly rapids and the Redwood creek trail. I like that you are inside rather than outside like most of the tables at the Plaza and the food is better than the Plaza IMO.

Thank you for letting me know that about the plaza... Having boys I think we may have to try another option . Have a great day!

Lots of characters at Minnie's at the Plaza Inn, not just Minnie. Captain Hook, Max, Pooh, Chip and Dale, Eeyore, Tigger and others. Fine for boys (not just the very young ones, either). Food is typically buffet type.....it's ok, not bad. They do have made-to-order omeletts, and Mickey waffles! Storyteller's has better food IMO and it is fun as described by pp above.

We've seen about 10 characters each time we've been to Minnie's. Yes, it's her breakfast, but not really girly. Sometimes they give out little balloons. We went to Storytellers last trip. The food was similar to Minnie's, though they have a few different choices. Both offer omelet stations, pastries, fruit, and a few hot items like potatoes. Minnie's is completely self serve, but Storytellers you will have a waiter who takes your drink order. At Storytellers you will see 4 or 5 characters. That is pretty standard for Mickey's and Goofy's too (though we haven't done those two). Minnie's is the only one you'll see more than 5 characters, it's the cheapest by a few dollars, and it's in Disneyland instead of a hotel. DCA does have a meal too, but it's Princesses.

I agree I don't find Minnie's to be girlie at all! The first pic they take of you is not with Minnie, it's just your party outside of the main eating area. Then each character comes to your table. Last time we were there it was 50/50 on male/female characters.

We have only been to the PCH Grill at Paradise Pier. Food was good. I remember seeing Mickey, Minnie and Stitch.

We have done Goofy's Kitchen, Surfs Up, and Ariel's Grotto so far. And out of those ones we like Goofy's kitchen because we stay at DLH and the kids liked the characters there. Also the Surfs up was great but our daughter was not feeling well and got reaaaalllllyyyy sick outside of the restaurant so it has bad vibes from the kids now :(.
Ariel's was awesome and the food was great, just more for girls obviously.

Totally wasn't saying it to be snarky - there are SO many threads on this subject including super-threads, so using the search bar will get you some great results!

We loved Surfs up at PPH. It's the only one with Mickey which is a great draw. I've always found it to be less crowded as well. The character interaction is great; Stitch is really fun.

I don't think that Minnie's breakfast is too girly. Sure, the free button you get has pink on it, but you don't have to wear it (and most guests at Minnie's breakfast don't wear the button). That's about the only super girly part of the breakfast. If I had boys, I would totally take my kids there. MOST of the characters there appeal to both genders.

Minnie's breakfast is the most economical of all the character meals. It's in the park. We went last October and we saw a ton of characters and we really enjoyed the food. The buffet area was always kept clean despite all of the guests and I thought that the staff did a great job.

If you have boys who aren't into princesses, definitely skip Ariel's character meal.

Minnie's breakfast is our absolute favorite. It has the most characters and some great interaction with them. We found the food to be fine. We used to see surprise characters there, but the last couple of years they have seemed pretty standardized- but there are a lot of them. The last few trips we have seen Hook, Fairy Godmother, Max (Goofy's son), Rafiki, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Eeyore, Pooh, and Tigger. It is our favorite character meal in both Disneyland and Disneyworld.
