I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why there is no Character Dinning that caters to boys:confused3

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Princess Dinning, but IMO I think they should have something boys would get into like, Toy Story, POC, Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Star Wars, for examples:confused3

I think Disney is missing the boat on this one, IMO it would be a well sought venue:confused3

Think about it even if you have a DD, how awesome would a Toy Story Character Dinner be:confused3

If nothing else they should give it a shot, the results might surprise them, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks the boys are being left out:confused3

Once again I'm not trying to bash anything that caters to the girls (I love the Princesses) but put yourself in a boys eyes:rolleyes1

My Son was raised at WDW.....

He LOVES CRT...

He LOVES Teppan Edo....

I think there are some "Boy" options... just you need to look for them.....

Hugs,
Mary

oooo, I love the idea of a Toy Story Character dining! DS loves Mickey and all, but something a little more geared towards boys would be nice.

I think there was, awhile back, some moves made to put in a Toy Story meal at Hollywood & Vine, but someone in Disney management thought it would be a better idea to aim that meal at preschoolers. For awhile, there was a big push to add things designed for preschoolers.

I have a preschooler and he loves Toy story. I thought about taking him to Hollywood and Vine but Jo Jo isn't even on anymore and he doesn't like Little Einsteins. So we would just be going for Handy Manny. We'll catch up with him in the park. :flower3: The Toy Story Dinner meal is an awesome idea and the girls would love it too.:cheer2:

I think you're right - and I have 3 girls. There should be some sort of meal with more "boy oriented" characters. Not that boys can't like Princesses and girls can't like Toy Story, but I think there ARE more character options that are girly. Everyone, of course, can do Mickey and the gang.

I think a Toy Story would be a great idea !!

:thumbsup2
I totally agree being the mom of 3 boys (who have went to WDW every year of their lives!)...all of whom have asked me where Cars, Toys Story and others are at during the character meals we've done. I do think they focus too heavily on the princesses (although I DO love them!). My boys would LOVE some new characters!!

My son, and plenty of girls I know too, would be all over a Pixar character meal. To be honest, I'm shocked they don't have one. I was saying the same thing to Disney right after I booked our trip and tried to find a "boy-friendly" character meal.

Wonder if Pixar being a separate company hinders that sort of thing. Imagine that might be the answer as I can't imagine someone wouldn't have jumped on that bandwagon long ago.

I love going to Disney. I have been a fan since my first trip in 1972. I have 2 boys of my own who also share my love of Disney. But they really need to offer more for boys (especially the 9 and up crowd). When went to Universal for the first time this year (sorry but Harry was calling our name). Universal is not Disney but my boys really enjoyed all the theming. With the addition of Legoland next year there will be more reasons for little boys to check out other parks in the Orlando area. Hopefully Disney will realize that they will have to start offering more thrill rides and other options that interest boys. The pirate tutorial and Pirate League is a great start but how about throwing a character meal our way. Now the one character my kids enjoy (Mickey) does not even make the table rounds at Chef Mickey's. You would not only get boys but lots of adult participation at a Star Wars or Pirates meal.

I'd love a Pirates meal! That one seems like it would be pretty simple to implement too.

I could not agree more! They are definately missing the boat on this!

I only have DDs, and I agree with what you are saying. I am trying to figure out ADRs for our May 2011 trip and there will be a 9 year old boy with us (along with 3 girls). So far I have CRT, Akershus, and Crystal Palace for the girls but for the boy I thought of Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, and O'hana's. I am sure he will like whatever since this will be his first time in the World, but I also don't want him to get bored with girly meals either. I too think a Toy Story meal would be fun, but I would also would LOVE to see a Phineas and Ferb meal come to DHS as well.

You may want to consider breakfast at 1900 PF for the boy. The Mad Hatter is hilarious. That was the only character meal my DS wanted to return to at that age.

My boys (especially the 3 year old) would be crazy about a "Villains" character meal. I'm thinking Captain Hook, Maleficent, etc. You could throw in a Pixar character (like Emperor Zurg) -- oh man, they'd love that.

There was a Villains character dinner in 2000-2001 at the Grand Floridian. It was discontinued, according to Disney, because the villains were too frightening for small kids. It was replaced by a princess meal (the cash cow at the time). If indeed the villains meal WAS discontinued because of complaints that kids were frightened, and not because they needed an excuse to put in another princess meal, I don't see it coming back.

Ooooh, thanks....I forgot about that one :thumbsup2....good thing I have until 11/11 to figure out which ones we will be doing:goodvibes

Heck, my 4 year old DD would love the options you listed at 'boy' options. I completely agree, btw.

As the mom of three boys (pre-school to pre-teen) with the screen name "pixarmom," I agree 100%.

First, thank goodness for Remy at Chef's - he's our first stop now when we arrive at Disney. I hope he continues to appear there. (Then we head to Garden Grill for dinner - our boys' favorite character meal, if you don't count Chef's as a "character meal.")

So our boys love Garden Grill, and non-character meals like Liberty Tree, 50s, California Grill and many others. So they certainly aren't complaining! But if we could have just one pixar-themed character meal - that would be huge! They had Woody and Jessie at the outdoor BBQ restaurant / Celebration Roundup at DL, but they removed the characters and now it's just a regular family-style meal.

It does seem like Hollywood and Vine would be a perfect venue for the Pixar characters! Our pre-schooler likes Little Einsteins, but he (and the rest of our boys) would take Pixar characters over the current H&V characters any day!
