Hello, for the first time we have purchased tickets for a Character meal with our package. We have the choice of the Plaza Inn or the Storytellers' Cafe for breakfast. Does anyone have any recommendations? We are very excited to try something new and we are just hoping that the food is good.

I prefer the atmosphere and range of characters at the plaza inn, we will do it for the 3rd time this trip.
We have done Storytellers once because we wanted to meet Meeko.

You will meet 2 or 3 times as many characters at Plaza Inn. I would only choose Storytellers if I wanted to do something on a day I don't have a park ticket for.

We did Storytellers in June with DGD because we wanted an early reservation......7:30 am
Loved it.....not crowded at all. Characters came around twice each, danced with her. She had so much fun.
We met Chip, Dale, Pluto and I think, Koda

Will do it again

Having done them all a few times with mostly adult trips, here in my opinion:

Plaza Inn: Characters are great, food is awful bland cafeteria buffet
Storyteller's: Food is awesome...basic selection but quality is best of them all, characters are just "meh"

Storytellers characters are rarer. They had Koda, Kenai and Brer Fox when I was there. You do have to wait a bit if you want to see all characters but we loved it and the food was good as well.

They can be. But when Chip, Dale and Pluto are 3 of the 4 (see above poster's experience and this was our experience as well) it's less appealing. I wish they would make it more consistent.

For me, the characters at Plaza Inn are hit or miss. In 5 visits over the last 3 years, I've had 2 great with plenty of characters, 1 with about 5 characters (same as you see at the other locations) and 2 with only 2 characters in 90 mins, despite asking the handlers for help.

To me, Plaza Inn has the lowest quality food, and it is "self service."

Storyteller's, you will see 5-6 characters, but they aren't all the top characters. We did Storytellers this week. We had Chip, Dale, Pluto, Koda, Kenai, and Brer Fox. But the food was awesome. And you had servers to refill drinks, clear plates, bring fresh utensils, and assist with needs.

Our preferences is usually Surfs Up with Mickey. Food is good, buffet is kid friendly, yet has plenty of items for adults, you get Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Daisy, and STitch. Sometimes Goofy shows up too. The servers are great and friendly.

Goofy's is fun, and has a great selection of food. You will get Goofy's and 4 additional characters. The servers do a great job. The place is huge, so you may not be close to the action.

For us, if it is mainly adults, we do Storytellers, add in a few kids, we do Surfs Up, or maybe Goofy's? If my granddaughter asks specifically for it, we will still do Minnie's, but it is my last choice.

We actually had Chip, Dale and then the three I mentioned because we waited until they came over to us.

That's encouraging! We typically have only seen 3 or 4 characters there. Maybe it's time to give them a try again! I would love to see Brer Fox!

Plaza Inn has my 150% vote! I have done all the character meals but this is by far my families favorite. Not only is the food excellent, but they have the largest selection of characters who I find will also take their time with you at the table. You will even see characters you may not even see anywhere else in the park such as Rafiki or the mice from Cinderella. I also have found that the characters are more playful in the sense that they often hang around the front door/buffet area and goof around with you as you get your breakfast, or even to say hello or goodbye as you come in or leave.

My family has done 3 breakfasts here and planning our 4th for the next trip. If you have a tablet or a phone and can do face time calling, they have a blast with face timing your family and friends at home so they can share in your joy. Just saying ;)

I have done both several times. If you have plans fro a relaxing day at the hotel, then I would suggest Storyteller's Cafe. If you have fastpasses or want to check out the park, then do Plaza Inn. Both have nice atmospheres and both offer enough characters and pictures with the characters. It really depends on what your plans are for the day. Either way you won't be let down :)

We love Storyteller's for breakfast. The food is some of the best and we enjoyed the characters a lot; less people so less waiting for interaction.

Has anyone ever met Thumper, or any other bunny, at one of the character breakfasts? I'm going a week or two after Easter 2018 and hoping to see meet some bunnies!

No, but Thumper was in I believe Critter Country prior to Easter. But not after.

You're so lucky you have Brer Fox at Storyteller's Cafe. I tried to find him there twice, but couldn't find him. After that, I decided to gave up finding Brer Fox at Disneyland, until something comes up. I missed him so much.:sad1: Of course, since they reopen the lower area of Hungry Bear Restaurant, I wonder they should bring Brer Fox and other two brer characters out for meet 'n' greet there instead meet n greeting near Splash Mountain. I'm not going to hold my breath, but it's a possibility.

We love the food at Storyteller's but we we like the characters at Plaza Inn. My daughter is a major Minnie fan which does make a bit of difference.

I prefer Storytellers, the restaurant is much more impressive, the whole thing is inside seating and the food I feel like is better.

DH and I did both last year for the first time. We preferred Storyteller's. We were kind of disappointed by Plaza Inn, especially after reading so many good reviews on here! We waited forever for characters and still ended up missing some. Although the ones we did meet were great! We had great interactions at Storyteller's and preferred the food much more!
