Character Breakfast at monorail resort

We're staying at Poly (shh, it's a surprise for DH and DD ) for a few nights at the end of the Orlando part of our trip and have a PS booked for Ohanas. But . . . just seen the menu and it's a sit down meal rather than buffet. DH would probably not eat an awful lot on the menu (he's a steak n eggs for brekkie man while in the US).

So, I got to thinking that the morning I've planned for our onsite brekkie is the day we go to Epcot, so we could easily get the monorail from the Poly over to either GF or Contempory on our way.

Anyone eaten breakfasts at either of these two?

I'm off to browse the restaurant board to check it out, but wondered if anyone from the UK had any thoughts?

Annie, Flower Hooray - the Polynesian it is then!! Woo Hoo!

We did the Character Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian in May and it was lovely!

A huge buffet with loads of choice, omelettes cooked to order and all sorts of different type things.

Mary Poppins and Goofy were in the foyer and Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and other characters came around during the meal.

Also gave us a chance to have a nosey round the resort plus it's dead easy to hop on the monorail from the Polynesian.

Another vote for the Park Fare 1900 at the GF, one of the best buffet brekkies in WDW IMHO.

We did the GF breakfast a few years ago, and the Contemporary one last year. Although we enjoyed them both, I preferred the one at GF

The GF had a wonderful food choice, beautiful surroundings and everything just seemed 'right' for us (well, apart from the cost, but we were there on the strength of a voucher! )The Contemporary breakfast was somehow noisier, more hectic and not as well organised, even though the food was good.

Mind you, I wouldn't say "no" to either of them right at this minute! ........

Another vote for GF.

I ate an enormous amount of food at this breakfast, just over a week ago.

Great choice, they even have strawberry soup!!!

We also enjoyed a good hour strolling through the resort pretending we could afford to stay there.

Have to say that although I haven't done it I've heard great reviews about 1900 Park Fare and to be honest even though we've done Chef Mickeys for breakfast I prefer it for the dinner buffet so I say also 1900 at GF

We did breakfast at Chef Mickeys last year. Noisy - yes, hectic - yes, disorganised - perhaps; we (especially the kids) loved every minute of it.

Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pluto and Goofy were all there. When Minnie hugged our 7 year old daughter she cried she was so happy. The kids didn't really have much time (or inclination) to eat with the characters coming around and the dancing/napkin waving. I really enjoyed the food.

We didn't go to GF so can't compare it but I would certainly go back to Chef Mickeys.

We did Chef Mickey's for Breckie last time too, and as Simon says very noisy, hectic and Great fun Our party of 16 all loved it, we were lucky enough to be sat near the kitchen entrance and the little cameos perfromed by the characters (especially Goofy) as they entered or left the eating areas were great. Would definately do it again.

As this is the only character breakfast we've done I can't compare to any others, but am certain you wouldn't be disapointed with this one.

I have been to both Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare. Chef Mickey's was (like a lot of people have said) pretty 'hectic' and noisy. There were lots more of the traditional popular characters here tough, like Chip 'n' Dale, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc. It also seemed extremely busy and we had to queue for a while.

1900 Park Fayre had a beautiful buffet, easily beating Chef Mickey's. The food was beautiful, and the fresh fruit and juices were mouth-watering. It was much more relaxing and definitely less hectic and better organised! I would choose here - definitely. You are just a short whizz on the monorail and from there you can go straight on to MK

Not too long now - have fun planning and try not to let the surprise 'jump' out

Don't be too hasty in discounting the Poly.
We had a character breakfast on day one of our holiday last year.
The food was delicious and plenty of it. Sausage, bacon, omlettes, Mickey shaped waffles etc.
Mickey, Goofy, Chip & Dale came in dressed in Hawiian clothes and got all the kids up, gave then maraccas and done a conga around the restraunt. My youngest DD was right behind Mickey in the conga. The look of shear delight on her face will live with me for ever. It really was a magical way to start our first Disney holiday.

Well, after a lot of thinking and consideration, decided to leave it in the lap of the Gods and see if Dreams Unlimited could change my ressie to either Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fayre at GF.

They got back to me this morning and we're now booked in for a 9.20 brekkie at the GF . . . .oooh, lush. I can finally say I've been to the GF 9.20 is a little later then I really wanted, but then I thought we could probably do with a bit of a lie-in that morning since we'll be at MNSSHP until gone midnight the night before.

What will be even more magical (and probably hysterical) will be when my DD and DH find out we're "going to the GF" DH is probably already going to be in shock when we move over to the Poly (I'm still determined not to let them know until the night before - and only then because we've got to pack ). It is hard work, Richard, I'm terrible at keeping surprises as a surprise

We did the GF breakfast on our first park morning. The food was very tasty and plenty of choice. Do not under any circumstances forget to have a large serving of the Bread Pudding with REAL vanilla sauce(custard), heaven.

Characters were Mary Poppins (outside of restaurant), Pooh, Tigger and Alice. They rotated around pretty quickly, Tigger was really bouncy and fun.

This was a bonus as park of our 10 day ticket, but a breakfast we will do again and gladly pay for.

We did Chef Mickeys and we loved it. I'm sure you'll be ok at GF though.
