Changing stateroom category

Hi, Just booked a cruise for Fall 2016 - Realised after I booked the wrong category. How simple is this to change if I phone up in a few days (once the high volume has calmed down?) . Obviously there needs to be availability, but is it a relatively simple transaction?

Yes. You can call and do it, or you can do it online. Once you access your reservation, and are on the page for "stateroom" there is a "modify" link.
 
Yes it is a easy procedure. I would call sooner than later to make sure you get what you want.
 
I change my category online all the time to check availability- no need to wait days.
 

Thanks - Have just changed it online, but owe a further $30.80 (on top of the deposit I already paid earlier)
When I try to pay it says "
  • Initial payment must be at least the deposit amount."
What am I doing wrong?

I'd guess that you are switching to a stateroom category that is more expensive than the one originally booked and thus owe the 20% of the difference.
 
Yes, but when I go to pay it, put in my credit card details etc, thats the error I get? The $30.80 is the extra deposit I owe

Oops. I misunderstood what you were saying. I have no idea why that would happen. Try what PrincessShmoo suggested. Maybe try paying a couple dollars above what they are saying you owe?
 
I had a similar problem last week trying to upgrade my 8C to a 4C. I had paid my 8C deposit and had also made $400+ worth of additional payments. My upgrade didn't increase my deposit by more than the additional amount I had paid. So that page told me Deposit Only $0.00 and it wouldn't let me continue. I tried to do Other Amount and put in 0.00 and that didn't work either. I ended up calling and talking to a lovely CM who sorted it all out in about 5 minutes. Good luck!
 
Just on phone with dcl - apparently their system doesn't allow you to pay that extra little bit online - you have to phone instead! Grrrr
