A couple of questions. Two rooms reserved. We may have a situation where we want to flip a couple of people from room to the other. Not changing the total in each room, One person goes from cabin 1 to cabin 2 and another goes from cabin 2 to cabin 1. How close to the cruise can this be done and what is the cost? Or after boarding can they choose where to sleep? Both cabins will have the same muster station.

Second question. Are you able to assign a different credit card to each key in a cabin or only one to the cabin and all in the cabin with charging privileges use the same card?

I know you can have different credit cards for the people in the same room. I do that when I stay with my sister or parents.

The first question, I have heard you can switch people in rooms when you board, but their card will be to the original room. I wouldn't think it would cost money to switch people because technically you aren't adding anybody. Just my guess is all.

You can either have the two people involved just switch rooms. In that case, each of them would need to get a blank (room key only) KTTW card to now access the room they are in. And they would use their "old" KTTW card to charge things onboard the ship. Or, you can go to Guest Services and have the two people switched on the reservations. Then they would each get a new KTTW card.

Each KTTW card can have it's own back up method of payment (credit card, or cash).

It is no extra cost to “switch” people at the port or immediately after you board. Just tell the person that is checking you in at the port that you want to do this. They will take care of it or send you to the guest services desk at the port or onboard to take care of it. It’s a pretty simple process.

If you “switch” people before you get to the port, DCL views it as canceling the reservation and booking a new one. If the price has gone up since you booked, you will be charged the current price for that person/people who are “switching”.

Similar to what the OP asked - I did a placeholder cruise in my name and my husband. So we had to book one room in my name and one in his. Will it still be ok to switch him to my room when we get to the port? Didn’t know if different rules applied in this specific case.

When we cruised with our sons (then 14 and 16) in the cabin next to ours, cruise line rules required one adult be assigned to each cabin (in other words, no cabin could be booked as just for kids). The only solution in that case was to get new blank key cards for the people who were assigned to rooms they weren't sleeping in. So if you're switching to put kids in their own room, that's your only option.

Thanks for the info! Luckily, the other room is for my parents so we shouldn't have the issue you described. :)
