Has anybody booked a stay at one DVC resort only to switch a week before departure?? Is there any problems doing this??
We booked last night a 1 bedroom at VWL for 3/9 to 3/15. My DW isn't high on the property but she is basising it on is the boat ride from the Wilderness cabins to the Lodge dock. She never has seen the property, nor have I. Our home is the BWV and would love to get the week there if there was availability. Should I hang tight and switch if I can? :confused3

I have stayed at the BW and the Wilderness. I LOVE THE WILDERNESS! My kids love the WL as well. The BW is great location wise for MGM and Epcot, don't get me wrong but the feeling of WL is something completely different.

The only problem with switching your reservation at the last minute (aside from regrets later, LOL) comes into play if the new reservation takes less points. That means the extra points go into the holding account.

Unless you get a standard view at BWV, that shouldn't be an issue for you.

Best wishes-

P.S. My advice is to give the VWL a try. If you don't like it, you'll know for the future. It's a lovely resort and worth a try, IMHO (and yet I am a die-hard BWV owner who hasn't stayed anywhere but the BWV, so you know how much my advice is worth, LOL).

I certainly wouldn't base the boat trip from Wilderness Cabins with one from Wilderness Lodge either. I can also guarantee the VWL units are MUCH nicer than the cabins!

You own at BWV so you will probably be enjoying many visits there over the years. Given that you managed to book a 1 BR at VWL on short notice, why not give it a try? Consider it an adventure. To me, that's part of the fun of owning DVC!

We bought into BWV because we love the boardwalk area. But out of curiosity, we stayed 2 nights at VWL on our first visit to WDW as DVC members and we loved it! But then, we also loved our trip to Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park and if you love those parks and their magnificent lodges, then you can't help but love VWL, too. The theming at WL/VWL is perfect.

What's the absolute worst that could happen? You discover VWL is really not for you, so you cross it off your list for future stays. Actually, the worst that could happen is what happened to us: we enjoyed it so much we want to add on at VWL just so we can be sure to get in there when we need a "lodge fix"!

try the VWL, there great. We own at BWV also but try to stay at all the DVC on site. Our next one will be at BCV in May (first time there)
