We are staying at the FW Cabins in December due to not being able to get into a DVC resort for a last minute vacation. I am very fearful that I wont like it! If it is that bad will we be able to call MS and cancel ressies and move to the Cont or Poly w/o any penalty? Thanks

We stayed at the FW Cabins when we first started going to WDW 10+ years ago and I loved them! Very cozy and you get the feeling that you are really in the woods!
You are locked into taking buses to get out of the campground, except for the boat to MK.
We also enjoyed shopping at the 2 stores on property, the Meadow and Settlement Trading Posts.

Check out http://wdwig.com/faq_fw.htm for lots of info.

If you plan on spending time at the campground I would reccomend renting a golf cart. They are fun and can get you where you want to go in a jiffy!

And of course Hoop-de-doo is right there if you plan to go.

Don't worry and have fun! :D

We stayed at FW cabins prior to purchasing DVC.....After 2 days we decided that it wasn't the Disney experience we wanted or enjoyed...we are definately a hotel type family.....Any way I pickup the phone and called CRO to find out where they might have available to move us to without a huge expense.....Well they moved us to BWV studio...And the rest is history ...by the time we left for home we were owners at the BWV's.......

This happened during a late August stay...but if you don't enjoy it is worth a try to move to another hotel.....While most people love FW Cabins...I really hated them...

How many are you? We stayed in the cabins last March and while we generally LOVED them, the sleeping was tight. My parents graciously took the Murphy bed and put myself, dh and the 2 kiddies in the bedroom. Yikes. They griped about the bed all week. Let's just say, "They are large and it was small!"

On day 2 of our trip we got interested in DVC and my parents bought that very day. I still swear a night on that Murphy bed is what did it! They kept hearing "king mattress in separate bedroom" over and over again. And for the record -- because of all the fussing that goes on here -- our guide definitely told us that 4 adults and 2 kids could stay in a one bedroom even though it is "against the rules." She even based the amount of points we needed to purchase on that!

Anyway, the cabins are great. So cutely decorated, and each has a nice little deck with a grill. The whole area is gorgeous with Pine trees and beautiful nature all around. My dh is NO camper, so this is as close as we'll ever get to "camping out." The cabin has a full kitchen and a nice bathroom. Not as spacious as a DVC 2-bedroom, but if you are used to a hotel room/studio, this is an "upgrade."

Hope it works out, whatever you decide to do!

You are not cancelling you are changing-

Look on page 36 of your member guide

changing on the arrival date - if the new reservations uses fewer vacation points than the orginial reservations, the remaining vacation points will be forfeited - but the Polyn requires more points not fewer - so you should be okay.

If you were canceling the entire reservations - no points will be refunded after your arrival.

And do try calling in the week before your arrival. You might get lucky and get into a DVC resort. We did this on a trip in August after having no luck on the waiting list, and got into BCV for the week. Diana
