Hi
We have booked 14 nights at a deluxe resort in WDW. I would like to book one night at Animal Kingdom Lodge as I've always wanted to stay there and we have a diner reservation for Saana.
Is it possible to just book a single night at Animal Kingdom Lodge whilst keeping our other hotel room ie just go an spend one night at AKL? If so, is there any pitfalls to this?
Thanks

You do know that Sanaa is at Animal Kingdom Villas, not the Lodge don't you?

There is no problem with doing what you suggest, nor are there any pitfalls (although, out of courtesy, I might mention to the front desk at your other resort that you will be away for one night staying elsewhere).

You may (but I honestly don't know) have difficulty with having two resort reservations linked to the same people on MDE (for the same time) but you could easily not bother linking the AKL reservation.

Personally, if you are already staying on site in a deluxe resort, I don't understand why you would spend the extra money to stay one night elsewhere but that's just my opinion (I can understand those that do it when they're staying offsite or at a value but just not sure why you would go to the extra expense if already staying deluxe) :confused3

I've done that a few times

note that you MAY NOT hold 2 reservations for the same lead passenger for the same night.

When I asked, Disney made a point that, if I booked a room, while already being booked at another resort (paying for the night at both resorts) Disney might randomly cancel one of the bookings without notice.

So if you do that, book your 14 days package in your name, and the one nighter under your husband's name or any other over 21 party member (or is it 18 at Disney's, nevermind)

if it's the same first and last name, same email adress, same home adress, Disney might cancel one or the other booking as one individual guest cannot hold 2 bookings for overlapping dates.

double post (sorry) to add :

here is the email I received back in 2012 regarding a double booking (POP + CBR while remaining booked at POP)

How long afterwards did you receive the email?

Only we booked a one bedroom villa at OKW in April 2013, then later in the summer added two nights at BWI.

Our booking is for August 2014 and we haven't had an email like this. We did the BWI booking over the phone and the CM didn't say anything about it being a problem for my husband to be lead guest on both.

Do you think that is because we have three people on the OKW booking (includes my MIL) and only two at BWI? Both are successfully shown in MDE.

Thanks everyone. I will book it in my husbands name. Always wanted to stay at Animal Kingdom

I would still call them because, you know, different CM, different policy ...
booking under 2 names, if you can add both to mde then no bother, but if you can't you'll need one magic band to open your akl door and one magic band for the parks

a magic band is a key and i'm not sure it's supposed to open 2 locks at the same time, so i'm not sure it's a good idea to link both bookings on the same mde, but it also means you'll need to deal with 2 magic bands for the day you're at akl ( and set up another mde acount if you want to customize your akl set of mbs

.

I inquired before booking the double nights to make sure it wouldn't pose any problem and that's disney's answer
i did not receive that email because i had made a double booking

As you will have two sets of Magic-Bands one for your two-week stay with room key access, tickets and dining and one for the one night stay with only room key access; then as already pointed out it would be best to have that one-night booked under a different name and to set up a different My Disney Experience account with a different e-mail address and best not to link any family and friends, so maybe use a middle initial for each guest and choose a different coloured Magic-Band.

If not already done so then check room prices from a few sites, both on the US and UK Disney and also UK Expedia, usually you can get the room cheaper on Expedia by going through Quidco for an extra 12% saving http://www.quidco.com/expedia/ and they also offer a price-guarantee, http://www.expedia.co.uk/daily/price-guarantee/default.aspx and free cancellation up to 5-days before check in.
