Changing Resorts at last minute - Anyone done it?

I have a reservation at SSR starting April 18th - 22nd. I have 100 points that must be used or lost. Since SSR is only using 78 of those points, I;m thinking about changing resorts. But my problem is nothing else but OKW is open for a studio.

I've called quite a few times to see if anything is open and nothing ever is.

On the chance that something opens up closer to my check in date should I take it? Or is it too much hassle switching resorts close to check in time?

If anyone has done this, can you share your experiences?

Thanks :thumbsup2

Should not be a hassle unless you are using ME and your luggage tags say SSR.

You can keep calling and if something opens up, book it. Just keep an eye on your points and make sure they used the holding points (from your cancelled SSR ressie) to book your new resort and not your regular points.

I wouldnt be picky about requests if you do get something last minute somewhere else. Sometimes they will hold back the HA rooms and free those up at the last minute if they dont need them.

If I had expiring points, I would book an extra night on the front or back so I would have a guaranteed early check in or late check out just to use those points up. It may or may not be available, but worth a check.

If your luggage tags say one resort and you are staying someplace else, get a black marker and change them. (I did and it worked just fine!)

As the "last minute booking" queen I have called at the resort and changed my reservaiton for "tonight" from Resort A to Resort B. I don't think it's a hassle!

Thanks for the opinions.

I think I'm still gonna try to switch. Just because I'd hate to see those 22 pts. go down the toilet.

I'd really like to try to get Beach Club or VWL. But...will take whats open.

I'm thinking to pick up my own luggage and bring it to DME on my own (little paranoid). My luggage got lost on a non stop from Syracuse to Orlando once...

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't such a bad idea or a hassle.

We see our Members switch resorts at the last minute ALL the time. We didn't realize that so many people switched at the last minute so it must not be a big deal. We saw the patterns during our Beta Trial and just made sure our systems could handle the last minute changes.
